Damn.... I don't think I can make the rally... I may have to sell off my tickets.

Why?!!!!!

Alright, I need you fellow Paulites... help me think this through so I can decide what to do.

Everything is so damned expensive. $450 for plane tickets from Chicago to Minnesota. Trains are out of the option as they are completely sold out (it's the D.C. March all over again, but this is also probably because of the RNC Convention).

The only available options for taking a train are either spending $250 plus the regular ticket price for an expensive sleeping room (also out of the question).

Or, I could wait all the way until Monday to go up, and then I'd have a roughly $150 ticket round trip, returning on Wednesday.... that just doesn't leave a lot of time in Minnesota.... although, it would get me back just in time for a class I have that night.

Unfortunately, the new school semester starts the week before the rally.

I thought I would either move back to school late after the rally on the 3rd, or move back early and then just return to Minnesota for that weekend....

I only have classes Wednesday through Friday.... however, since the rally is all day Tuesday, I wouldn't be able to come back until that Wednesday.... meaning I'd likely miss at least one (but probably both) classes that day (classes are from 9 am to 9 pm... yuck).

At my school, if you miss 3 classes you get dropped.... and at $1085 per credit for classes worth 3 credits each, that's a lot of money to lose.

It's so annoying, because I'm already in Minnesota for the summer.... if school just didn't start for another week, everything would work out perfect....

If I go back to school late (coming back Wednesday the 3rd), then it'll mean I'll miss every single class one time (since my classes start the Thursday before: 2 on Thursday, 1 Friday, then 2 the next Wednesday, the day I'd move back, which would take all day).

ahhh.... I'm already confusing myself....

Probably, the best thing to do is move back to school on schedule or early. That way I'm there the first week, can get settled and moved in, get my transportation pass and any other paper work, start classes and work, etc.

Then, take that "cheap" train ticket and come all the way back to Minnesota on Monday, go to the rally on Tuesday, and then get back on the train and go all the way back to Chicago on Wednesday, missing one class, but arriving just in time for an evening class.

SIGH.

OR.... I could just sell my tickets (I've got two... still need to find someone to go with me), not go, and miss out on history in the making.....

hmm.... I did budget extra money in my loans in anticipation for things being expensive/travel expenses....

Damn it.... it's all just one week off.

Well, this post is pretty irrelevant, but at least it helped my work things out and sort out my options....

However, if you have any alternative ideas, let me know what you think.

Well, what do you think?

Please check out megabus.com (I think). Cheap ride. As for your school, you need to check out their exceptions--if you miss over 3 days and/or how you can get "excused" for them. Then try to fabricate their plausible condition so that day can be excused.
Good luck deciding.

There you have it. And stay healthy so you don't miss any more school. How long of a drive is it from Chicago. You've gotta go.

Ron Paul Nation Celebration
7:00pm - 11:00pm
Blaine National Sports Center Stadium
Blaine, MN 55449

The Ron Paul Nation Celebration may be the most fun event of all three days. The Campaign for Liberty will host a free evening concert as a big THANK YOU for all Ron Paul supporters.

Ron Paul 2008 was a historic campaign. Countless numbers of supporters poured a lot of their time‚ money‚ and effort into spreading the message of liberty. It was a grassroots campaign. We broke fund raising records with two enormous money bombs‚ held the largest rallies‚ and got the Ron Paul Blimp in the air. An entire generation of young people have been inspired due to your hard work‚ and we would like to say "thank you".

Ron Paul musical favorites‚ Aimee Allen‚ Mark Scibilia‚ Rick Ellis‚ and emcee‚ Adam Curry will be our entertainment for the evening.

The celebration is free and open to the public so bring a lawn chair‚ blanket‚ and your dancing shoes. It will be a blast!

...just one week off....

If the St. Paul Rally is Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 then you have a month---unless I've lost another month myself, which wouldn't surprise me these days.
Just checked my computer clock and it says today is July 26th so I guess I'm ok. Sort of.

Whenever I have a problem like this and I've done everything I can think of to "fix" it and nothing seems to be working out I have me a little "sit down" talk with God. It usually goes something like this.....
Dear Father, (hey, God, or however you chose to address him)
I know you have better things to do, like running the universe and trying to keep John Conyers awake and such but right now I need your help. This is the situation...........
and this is my problem.............
Then KNOW that it will be resolved in the best manner possible for you. Let HIM take care of it.

I know this is an oversimplification but that's the jist of it.

The idea of a chip-in is a good one.
I wonder if you can get on a waiting list with the railroads so that maybe if there is a cancellation you could get a ride on a day you would like to go.
Find some cute young thing at the railroad ticket office and beg and plead for "anything" but you absolutely have to get to St. Paul on (day). Ask if you can ride in the baggage car! Ask if you can work your way to St. Paul as a waiter or something. Use your imagination, show your desperation and don't take no for an answer.
Maybe when you get to school you will find others in the area who are driving to St. Paul and you can share expenses.
For that matter, something may happen and school opening will be put off a week.

A miracle will happen. They happen every day.

you can send your ticks to

you can send your ticks to the campaign for liberty and they will give them to someone else who can't afford it and can make it

Take the $150 flight. Be in Saint Paul for two days!

You will find a place where to crash... Just post that you need a crash place. Ask and thou shall receive. And if all else fails Send your signs there so at least a part of you can show the country that Ron Paul OWNS Saint Paul. Here is the link for that... http://www.dailypaul.com/node/50462
Feel free to leave a comment there asking for a place to crash... lots of people from Saint Paul are reading the thread.

well, my parents live an hour a way from Minneapolis, so I'd probably just stay with them....

this is just so irritating that the timing is off... then I'd just have to drive up to the cities for the day.
