McCain in Nevada
Last night I tried to campaign for a friend who's running for congress here in Nevada, against incumbant Dean Heller. Inbetween acts at an outdoor concert on the lawn, I went up to groups of people & asked if anyone was participating in the republican primary next month & if they were, would they please consider James Smack for their vote. Well, I met 100% disdain & ire from the crowd. People told me, "NO!" resoundingly, & with anger in their voices. I'd interject, "Wait a minute, I'm a Ron Paul republican!" No one ever responded. They didn't know who the f..k Ron Paul was. I had this experience with EVERY clump of people I approached. If McInsane is winning, it's because the media says so & that makes it true. Friday was very bewildering as it started with our day in court trying to get our injunction going against the state GOP, which we lost. Jesus Christ, what are we to do to get our people elected, when most people HATE the party? How come the people in Nevada aren't lynching Heller for his support of FISA, the mortgage bail-outs AND his sponsorship of the bill to embargo Iran? We had 2 banks go belly-up yesterday & people still don't get it that it's not ALL Bush - it's our congress & senate, too.
Disgusted,
Cynthia Kennedy

Most of these people do not
Most of these people do not even know what FISA is. Have no idea about the implications of a bail out and have hardly set a foot outside their state much less the country to be able to form an informed opinion about Iran.
When I was getting coffee
at the June Reno convention, while waiting in the line in the concessionaire area of the casino, the people behind me noticed my convention badge. I told them what was going on. They were from NY & having a family reunion. They got very excited to know that we were still carrying the flag for Ron Paul. I was so happy to meet people from across the country who had an understanding of what we were doing. It was a rare occasion.
On the other hand, when we were having a non-partisan candidates' picnic at our town's park a few weeks ago, I realized that the dems there probably thought we were all for Bush/McInsane, just like we think they're all for Hilbama. We were real upfront about our support, but just the same, to think that someone thinks I'm for those two creeps makes me shudder, just like I shudder about Hilbama.
Cynthia
Mission Accomplished...
You just described the goal of the "powers that be" behind our two candidates. If they can get everybody to believe that nobody else even deserves to be considered as a candidate and then get people to act upon that belief... then they can and will shut down any attempt to introduce pertinent subject matter into the debates/discussions... as Ron Paul so masterfully accomplished during his appearances... I miss those days as it gave me opportunities to talk about it with others... "Did you see the debates last night?"
Thanks for all the good posts Cynthia and I'll let you and Juanita know more about the Voter Education Program later this week... Heidi wants to move forward with it but we were all just a little too busy this past week with the law suit to focus on new business. Keep up the good work.
Unfortunately they probably
Unfortunately they probably believe that McCain is the lesser of evils in this race. Just goes to show you how gov'ment education combined with a barrage of constant propaganda gets to people, it makes it difficult to win people over. I think, they all want to believe in the cause, but just can't wrap their heads around it because it appears too daunting a task.
Just a thought...hmm, wonder what they'd do if you showed them real proof of the existance of the NAU/Amero plan (amoung other things), include it in a flyer of some sort, show voting records, and where each congressman is getting their money from (that's the kicker for me). Included could be links to legit (no conspiracy theories yall-don't want to look like a bunch of crazies) sources so they could look them up themselves. Yes yes yes- that's it yall! Figure out what your elected officials have done concerning the crush of liberty. Put it on a flyer with their money trail/voting record. Maybe adda question like "Does this really represent you?", put the CFL web address at the bottom, print it off the computer yourself, and leave it the mailboxes of your subdivision/apartment building/neighborhood-district? It would take a little work to compile, but it would include facts that could be easily checked out independently- let the facts speak for themselves and leave the choice up to the person... Sorry yall got on a roll with this one, all it would cost is a little time, a full ink cartridge, and a couple of packs of paper- We need to keep the word spreading. If it seems like a big task rememember just start small and work you way up
Already workin' on it...
We've started a Voter Education Program within the party. check out this post and read some of the reply's:

SMACK THE HELLer outta Congress...
...and he can take the rest of the trash with him when he leaves. We have been treated so unfairly here in Nevada (everywhere really) that many of us have become discouraged and wonder if it's really worth the effort to keep fighting against such an unfair opponent... but that is exactly why we must continue to try and make progress on every front, we got 'em on the ropes like never before in recent political history and now is the time to keep the pressure and exposure on. Some people are very good at getting involved and participating on a personal level while others are great at letter writing and emailing and then there are those that are really good working the phones or just talking to neighbors and folks in general. Whatever it is that you're good at... get out there and do it!
No doubt the general public is more than disgusted with the republican party here in Nevada and we certainly got a lot more media coverage since the second convention and recent court hearing and it has given the party a well-deserved black eye. I believe it will be difficult for any republican candidate to win their respective offices... too many people look down on them now... but what do we do to change that... talk about the issues... not the party... and continue to expose them for what they are and use the public forum to help influence the party from the outside... whatever we all decide to do collectively or individually one thing is for sure... we have to try!
Good Luck James...

So You are James!! My
So You are James!! My husband and I were guests from Wa State watching the 2nd convention. We were both impressed with you and Mike Weber. I knew who Mike was but I wasn't aware till a while into the convention that you were running for congress. I can't remember what was said but at the moment someone made a comment that you were running my husband and I
simultaneously started laughing because every time we see a good speaker we always say I hope he's running for office and you were!!! Yay! I have told all the delegates here in my county that they missed a treat. Watching your convention honestly helped me understand how they're supposed to go. I mean other than yours in Reno was there any other fair convention out there? So thanks for that experience, I know it'll be more useful since we have it on tape and can study it in the future. We'll file it under
How a Real Republican Convention should be run.
PS I hope you got one of the Ron Paul private label bottles we brought from WA. Unfortunately we only had 4 cases.
I am a friend and supporter of James...
... I donate my graphic design services to his campaign and to the Terhunes in support of their efforts, and to the Washoe County Republican Party in hopes of influencing the direction of their ethics policies. James has done a fantastic job preparing himself for Congress and as you know from his performance at both conventions he stands up for what is right... what a concept.
Ok GeekSneek after reading
Ok GeekSneek after reading your post again I realized you are NOT James. Sorry. I really have enjoyed your posts so I was thinking "ofcourse" because you are very well spoken (or is that written?) The above is stil true but weirdly outa place.
I feel for you darlin! Funny
I feel for you darlin!
Funny I had the same epiphany in Nevada even though I'm here in Wa state. When we were leaving the NV(June) convention, we were walking out towards the casino and a group of people were passing by the sign that said "Republican State Convention ahead" as they read it one average looking guy said "Gawd just what I want to do is go to a Republican Convention! Gag!" Of course his whole group started laughing.
My husband and I pondered this as we were waiting for our car. Not having been republicans prior to Ron Paul we realized the many people like us that were associating themselves with a dying and highly disliked party and how we're doing an amazing thing. It has not been easy. I am not trying to insult longtime GOP/ Ron Paul people but if people outside our group understood our reasons which are for the "cause" we are doing, I think it would make an impact. It's a tough thing to convey though
