In my state, write in are
In my state, write in are not counted, unless someone files to have them counted. So to answer the question of who wins if you write in Ron Paul, the answer is McCain and Obama.
What??? Why??? How???
Its very easy to understand. Obama and McSame are the establishment. They win by showing that people only voted for the establishment. By you wasting your vote, in a way that it will not be counted as voting against the establishment does nothing. Voting for a third party, be it Barr, Baldwin or someone else, is a vote against the establishment.
So the choice is simple, support the establishment, and do not vote against them, or vote against them in a way that will at least be counted.
Why is this so hard to understand?

I don't agree with Ron Paul
I don't agree with Ron Paul on everything, so I guess I'll still write in Ron Paul, even though he did say that.........maybe not, maybe he'll get the nomination and I won't have to write him in :)

That sentence was referring to the statement that writing in Ron Paul isn't "productive" I might beg to disagree. It is productive if it prevents people from voting for the other of two evils.

Here's who doesn't gain from my write in McCain and Obama and I do, I am voting for someone I believe in- and write in candidates are allowed in AZ- so using the logic of the quote that it wouldn't be productive if it wasn't counted in that state if you turn that around you get that it would be productive if it is counted .
Just because write-ins are allowed...
...in your state, does not mean it will be counted. I believe Paul himself said if they can make votes disappear in a primary or general election using (and I use this term loosely) [traditional means], "Imagine what they can do with write-ins." It would be swell if he were write-in candidate for AZ governor. It might even be swell if he filed a declaration of intent to be a write-it. It might also be swell if write-ins nationwide were counted.
Try to think of it from their prospective. If your vote does not count against the establishment then the establishment gains.

Yeah, I know this is what Ron Paul said. But here's what I say, I am writing in Ron Paul and my step dad informed me today that he will be writing him in also. I am used to my vote "not counting" and I still feel good about it, so... I know you want me to vote Barr but it ain't happening- am I wasting my vote?
