Why vote with such doom and gloom on the horizon?
With all the fear mongering going on in this forum it sure seems like some of you work for the government. All the BS about the sky is falling and the next great depression is coming is kinda wearing thin on me.
You want to promote this fear and at the same time tell everyone to get out and vote for RP people. Why? If we are all gonna be living in caves , fighting and killing each other for food then why even try?
So basically when all hell breaks loose I should look for people that are wearing RP T-shirts and help them while killing the rest to save my family?
How about we try for one month to not put any fear mongering BS threads up and try to stick to the positives. It's always seemed to me that if you look for bad shit you'll find it but if you look for good shit you'll find that too. So I try to look for good shit.
Try to stay positive and quit trying to scare the shit out of people. You can inform people without all the negative BS.

The terrors of what might happen have been with us all through the decades that I've been watching..Is everything finally going to crash? I don't know. Probably not too badly, if history is our guide. Looking all the way back, there's always that risk in a society. I believe that our situation has worsened so much that there will be upheval and changes, but there needs to be. Through the changes will be our rebirth.
Making concrete preparations for my individual survival has helped me feel good, whether it be for no electricity, food shortages or security issues. Early in the campaign I felt a kind of social shock that was downright depressing. I got over it by getting in food and water stock, etc. and focusing more on my life now, not on what horrors might await in some unkown future. Be prepared, but be here now. It's far more pleasant.

We are trying to talk about things that should be said by our leaders but aren't. If we are looking for positive spin on things like the budget deficit, War on Terror, the economy in general, then we need look no further than Fox News or the Bush administrations own reports. What we want though is the truth. Perhaps we should focus a little more on the positive things that occur, but where the attempts at deception occur are usually on the side of positive spin. The country is in trouble, we need to face that, we have some of the answers.

I'm inclined to concur with you, Michael. Thanks for being one of the thinkers around here.
My dad started battling the Capitol Hill monsters and their educated idiot stooges in 1977. He almost lost his life when we lived in western South Dakota; the family lost virtually everything (not that our experience lends any reason to stop fighting for generations to come).
By the same token, bombarding us with ideas of shock and horror kind of defeats our purpose. I think well-meaning people are trying too hard to prepare other people's minds (this probably won't hurt the cause [at least in my estimation], but it definitely won't help).
I appreciate your insightful post. We certainly need to stay with reality!

Perception is everything, of course. Children can live quite happy lives if they don't know what's going on and have a happy home.
My main concern is one we share: that a lack of optimism will make people give up. I can only say that I tried ignoring government and politics for at least 20 years, and that didn't work either.
The forecast was doom and gloom then, too. In fact, it's what motivated the establishment of the Libertarian Party and the entry of Ron Paul into Congress. It's just taking a long time for people to realize how bad it really is.
Why vote? Just voting isn't enough, but voting is essential. Corporations can't vote, industries can't vote, only individuals can vote. Even with potential election fraud in some areas, they can't control the whole process. It is critical to vote for what you want, and keep doing it, until enough people come around to your way of thinking.

I've actually decided not to vote. With the diebold machines and all the fraud I've decided to not play their game. I'll find other ways to be productive. No doom and gloom for me other then the sadness of the loss of what I thought was my country. I read this site just about every day but I haven't commented in awhile because I've been learning and preparing and changing the way I live and think and I love it. I appreciate all the warnings etc. from everyone because it has given me a new found freedom I've never had. Being prepared and knowing what is really going on doesn't catch you by surpise. Because of this site and the links I have found, I have not been shocked by anything that has happened and I'm smiling because I feel stronger and wiser. I don't feel like a pawn, my eyes have been opened.

cause problems when the economy goes in the tube. Many of us have been saving money, water, food and some of us can even grow our own food. We are the most prepared and the least likely to cause problems as far as I can see. So, why worry about us? There are millions of totally unprepared people who are likely to panic and perhaps riot.

Some people are usually more inclined to listen to the truth if it is scary. Some people are so gone they preach to me to watch fox for the truth. They are ususally the vote for Mccain even if he is a disaster you do'nt want Obama types and voting anything else is a waste of your vote or will hand it to Obama. Does'nt matter how you talk to them they know it all and ca'nt be told anything and just do'nt get what is going on and wo'nt or ca'nt except it. Others get a little worried and start paying attention and looking into things a bit and start to wake up but might not quite go all the way. The strangest thing I've seen is the ones who prefer to get there news from comedy central because they are on to most news being BS. Even though they are sarcastic you have to admit they usually have it right. The Daily Show, Stephen Colbert ect.. So truthful comedy is thought provoking at the least. But it has to be intelligent.

I know how
you feel but truth hurts and we MUST RISE regardless. We are used to being fed happy thoughts and now we don't know how to handle the negative.
Our ancestors were used to bad things happening and were ALWAYS alert to take action. If you look at pictures of people Civil War era, people rarely smiled because there wasn't much to smile about it was about surviving. We have to get in the survival mode and what we have to have is the truth, both good and bad. I now understand why children's fairy tales were so dark. They wanted to teach children early in order to prepare them for dangerous world.
Our ancestors didn't have the communication network that we now have, this can be both a blessing and a curse. We are probably suffering from information overload and we need to practice how to process it without being overwhelmed by it. Like everything this is going to take practice and we will be better people for it. We are so far ahead of the curve compared to others who are clueless as to what is happening. (that's a positive).
The asses who wish to destroy us will fail because at some point they will let their guard down. We have to develop our survival instincts that our ancestors possessed, cunning and gut instincts will be our best defense.
Survival of the fittest will inherit the future. Survive not because you want to live but because you want to bring DOWN those who have caused so much suffering. Peace

IMO the problem for far too many years is not addressing the negative. If everything is all happy happy joy joy all the time then there is no reason vote. Ignorance has dominated the land for far too long and bliss is in short supply.

All these negative things you are referring to - are they lies? In my opinion, much of the negative news is truthful and there is no way that I'm going to stick my head in the sand to try to ignore it all. The more who are prepared the better.
In your search for good s**t, have you found much? If so, please fill us in. As long as it's truthful (and by truthful I'm not implying that you are lying but rather that the information is true and correct) I will give it serious consideration.
