My name is William Gideon and I am the Operations Volunteer Coordinator at the Committee of Arrangements for the 2008 Republican National Convention. I am following-up on an email sent to you via Monster.com regarding your volunteer candidacy.
You have been officially accepted and approved by the United States Secret Service for a volunteer position on our Operations Team.
Operations Volunteers will assist with many functions in and around the Xcel Center. Your team will play a primary role in the overall smooth execution of this extraordinary event.
Operations Team shifts run September 1-4 between the hours of 12 PM to 12AM (actual shift times will vary from day-to-day depending on convention session times). Your specific volunteer schedule will be given to you at your training session next week.
We are most eager to get you started but first we need for you to confirm your attendance. After we have you officially on the Operations Volunteer Team, we will send you a training invitation so that you may schedule yourself to fit your needs.
Operations Training Dates
· Monday August 11 / 5:30 p.m. / RiverCentre / Hospitality
· Saturday August 16 / 10:00 a.m. / RiverCentre / Hospitality
· Saturday August 16 / 3:30 p.m. / RiverCentre / Site
Since the Training dates for Operations Volunteers are next week, please reply by 6 pm, Wednesday, July 30, 2008. That’s tomorrow, so please respond immediately.
Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. You can register using the link as sent to you in the email from Monster.com (https://jobs.quickhire.com/scripts/msp2008rsvp.exe) or email me back and I will get you set-up.
The Operations Team will be making follow-up calls tomorrow to check in with you personally should we not hear from you sooner.

I'm not sure if I can make it. I'm gonna' have to jump through some hoops to pull this off....I'll have to grovel at work to get extra time off....I have some designs that I'm working on to help boost ticket sales for the Rally...I'm moving in two weeks to another state, again(border state)oh well...we'll see how it goes. Does anyone else have their confirmation yet? Just wondering.

I do not know, and am very confused, myself. We were supposed to try really hard to volunteer for the GOP convention, and become delegates. Now we are having a whole different "convention" yet dvd's for delegates thing is still going on. I spent a lot of time and effort on adding and changing the GOP platform in my state and got totally ignored. I was too chicken to be the only one in the entire convention, later, to stand up and discuss the thing as I think I was the only RP delegate to my state convention--at least no one else did anything, either.. The GOP does not want us--I just do not know. These are confusing times. I am going to the Rally in Mn. That is all I know. I think, if you are going to be the ONLY RP supporter as a volunteer, I would not do it. I am still mad at myself for chickening out and not standing up when the discussion was asked for and saying WHY IS THERE NO balance of the budget in here? WHY on one hand do you say you are FOR smaller government and then say you WANT federal farm packages? WHY do you support OFFENSIVE WAR in your platform? But I didn't. They had ignored all of my written suggestions, and I could not bring myself to cause a scene. I am very angry at myself, still, and confused.

For all the people immediately around us who want to keep their heads in the sand, won't admit government conspiracy, won't see that the dollar is crashing, etc., they will see you taking the time, effort, money to go and know how important you consider it to be. It is more important than babysitting for that working mother, more important than the two year old's birthday party, more important than the trip you haven't been able to work in to see your son's new house, more important than the money it will take in gasoline, more important than the money you will lose by not working on those days, more important than another trip to see your parents, more important than the annual trek you take every year and wouldn't miss for the world. OMG, this is so vital. Taking this trip puts its importance in the face of those who are still in denial.

Well, I was at my County GOP Headquarters today -- SPITTIN' the truth about the New World Order, and how the Globalist Elite are auctioning off the USA for pennies on the dollar. You know, I bought the tickets to Minneapolis, and will likely sleep in my car, but... It is WORTH IT!!! I will fight for Liberty and to help free the American people from the evil clutches of the evil Federal Reserve, and Bilderberg, and Trilateral Commission, until my dying breath. I am so greatful to those that have given their lives thus far in opposition to the New World Order -- I owe it to them: JFK, Dan Wallace, Bill Cooper, Tim Russert, Larry McDonald, possibly Kent Snyder, Dr. David Graham, Deborah Palfrey, and Pat Tillman...

it!! :-) I was checking out my options for Minneapolis today, but it just doesn't seem like a feasible trip for me -- I could do it, but it would be a lot of details for me to work out. :-( Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait for the youtube videos to come out!

Oh, I've tried!! I'd been thinking of taking the train since it
would be just over $300 round trip, but then the first problem would be getting from the train to the hotel where I could probably share a room with someone I know. But getting there would take me 2 hours (by public transportation) unless I could get my friend to pick me up. Then that wouldn't be a problem. The next issue would be is that she (my friend) would be flying out that morning and the train doesn't leave until 11:00 at night, so I'd have to figure out what to do with my luggage and find my way back to the station.
The other option is flying, which is more expensive and complicated routing that I don't know I could deal with on my own. Though, I suppose I could. I've just never traveled like that on my own and there are a lot of things to take into consideration and the costs really start to add up for someone who is currently unemployed!
Another option would be carpooling with someone, which I suppose I could do...it would just take more time.

I don't know where you are flying from, but a one way ticket from Florida is $99=$116 after tax non-stop on Northwest. So buy 2 one way tickets because it seems cheaper than buying round trip. Figure your travel time around your friends and travel lightly. To minimize cost come on Monday and leave Wednesday morning. Find a Daily Pauler that has available hotel space. Volunteer to sleep on the floor and offer something for the hotel stay.
And yes I am sleeping on the floor with my group. So I wouldn't suggest something that I'm not willing to do myself. Just a suggestion. I would hate for anyone not to be able to go especially a very active Daily Pauler.
