im an eye for an eye kinda
im an eye for an eye kinda guy....first off..they said he never requested to contact his consulate..they say they didnt know that he was a mexican national..whether they did or didnt i dont care...you rape and murder a couple young girls then you deserve to die...he admitted to doing it so its not like theyre gonna come back and find out he was innocent...maybe something like this will show oter illegals that youll be punished just as well as if youre a citizen....my personal opinion rape is worse than murder..its something that has to be lived with for life...but these girls were still murdered...which for me i say he should be raped and then put to death....scumbag....

The problem was
that he was not allowed his rights to contact his consulate. That was the entire problem. Now other countries will have the right to do the same to our citizens if they are jailed in their countries.
The problem was
that the federal gov't has no right to commit the state to this type of agreement. I believe that Texas would have to agree to it in order for it to be valid. Yet another example of the Feds overstepping their authority.
Also, I don't believe he ASKED to contact his consulate. And why didn't his own attorney raise the issue at that time? It was four years AFTER the conviction that this issue was brought up at all....during the extensive appeals process.
My guess is that the guy didn't bother telling the police that maybe his immigration status was "fuzzy" and that he wanted consulate counsel.....He was just looking for a way out on appeal.
I think it is the
Geneva Convention.
I agree, die he must, but be sure to follow the rules. The rule is not to protect this creep, but to protect our people who might be falsely (hopefully) accused in another country. I don't know why, when this was discovered, the consulate wasn't simply notified and get on with it.
I don't know the details of this particular case. If someone here actually is familiar with the fine details, perhaps they can clue in, but when you are killing someone, don't leave any stone unturned, especially if he is a killer.
its not the geneva
its not the geneva convention..its the lesser known vienna convention...

oh
thanks.
I disagree with the death
I disagree with the death penalty....
1. for moral reasons
2. because they've killed the wrong people in the past, and money doesn't buy back a person's life.
3. I'm not comfortable with the government having the legal power to put people to death.
A fair alternative
would be allow the girls' families to mete out justice.....
I am opposed to housing, feeding, educating, medicating, etc these "people" for the rest of their useless lives after they murder children.
Not to mention what they do to the non-violent offenders they're locked up with.....And the correctional staff that have to deal with them. Ever thought about what happens after they're "locked away" out of sight of polite society? Someone STILL has to deal with them and someone (that would be the taxpayers) has to pay for it.
If I as the taxpayer have to pay for it.....I want my money's worth.
Can our system be improved with a more honest and open law enforcement community? Of course! That's one of the changes for which I think most of us work.
that doesn't really address
that doesn't really address any of the reasons I gave..... and if we didn't have the income tax (or the other ridiculous taxes we have today), we really wouldn't be supporting criminals/prisoners....
besides, if you were to decriminalize much of the current unconstitutional laws, get rid of taxes, etc., quality of life would likely improve, and as a result crimes (including vicious crimes) might also go down.

no kidding.... his stance
no kidding.... his stance against the death penalty completes it for me (though it is something of a minor issue).
I literally agree with every single position he has....
First Off
I believe the death penalty is immoral, no matter what the case. And Texas defied a very reasonable international law. You nuts see to latch onto any case in which the 'world government' is oppressing americans. The law was that if someone commits a crime in a foreign nation, the harboring nation is obliged to give that criminal access to the consulate in their native country.
What if you went to china, you were arrested, and then were denied access to your family, your family lawyer, or your own government?
He deserved to be punished.
And you cannot deny that many of the supporters of this execution were probably racist, and that the Minuteman project is essentially fueled by racism, either explicit or implicit.

Well, heaven forbid
that Texas have a death penalty if YOU decide it's immoral. I do believe the people of Texas get to make that decision.....not you.
The dead guy was an absolute animal.....You might try reading up on the actual crimes that he committed against those girls (both dead). How about a little sympathy for those families? Or is it just reserved for the animals?
Not sure why you're playing the race card here, but it ain't gonna fly. Take your hate-mongering somewhere else.
If I lived in China since the age of 3, and spoke, read and....
wrote Chinese (notice it does not say whether or not he can speak Spanish, his native tongue) and made a conscious decision to rape and murder two Chinese citizens, I would expect to be punished under Chinese Law, the same law I had been living under. People in Texas are tired of allowing foreign nationals to come to our country, demand to live off of what others have earned, spit on our laws and call us racists when we complain. When I have asked Mexicans what would happen to an American who went to Mexico illegally, refused to obey the laws, demand governmental support and march through the streets waving an American flag, they laughed at the idea and said the Mexican people would kill anyone who did that. Here we give them more food stamps and social security. ( And before you call me a white racist, you should know that my family is multi-racial. Most of us are adopted and don't know what our exact genetic make-up is. We are a family by choice. If you want to call me prejudice, just understand I am against any one of any race that takes something they have not earned and then refuse to help themselves or anyone else.)
I think those are good points
I've got to agree with a lot of that rationale.

After what those animals did to those two girls......I'm glad he's dead.
(To those making racist comments about my state, keep in mind that the first of these executed for this particular crime was named O'Brien......)
i dont
I dont really believe in the death penalty. If anything, its the easy way out. Why do you think people commit suicide?
I do
however, only if the individual agrees to it.
He's history---Bout time!!!

What color was the victim?
Or does that matter? She's dead. Hang him and stop hiding the truth behind "brown people"
2 victims
both girls.
Kill
Kill all the brown people. That is Texas' motto.
