for all the baby boomers who have worked, paid thousands of dollars into social security, and want to enjoy there time remaing, this dolt says its your patriotic duty to sacrifice more of your time and treasure to help out the government! what a joke.. so since the government has screwed everythin up and spent us into 9+ trillion in debt you should not take your SS check and continue to work!
he talks about there being a labor shortage! yea right! all the jobs are overseas! I hope you folks don't fall for this baloney!

The way I understand it,
the funds would have been there if the government had not
spent the funds on other things.

SS was a ponzi scheme from day one, and the chickens are coming home to roost.
I can tell you without reservation that this is a VERY divisive issue between the young voters and the baby boomers.
The young voters want to put all the blame on the boomers, because they see the boomers are possibly going to get theirs, and the young ones might not get theirs(and have to pay alot to service the boomer SS bill).
I have seen some really vicious venom spewed by young voters at baby boomers over this issue.
It's misdirected, of course, but nevertheless, this is a wedge issue between younger and older voters. Many don't realize that there is a freedom-oriented faction of boomers who didn't want SS, but were forced to pay it all their lives anyway.
Doesn't matter. The younger tikes just want somebody to lash out at, and the boomers seem like an easy target.

what a joke.. what this shows is that here in about 4 years the powers that be are panicing because there is not enough money to pay all the people who are going to retire shortly.. so what happens.. BAIL OUT= INFLATION=LOWER DOLLAR.. those stooges in dc are a joke! they have robbed and raided everyone for there own fortune and for there buddies in business now the piper is going to be paid.. there is noway to solve this problem .. either default by the US government or taxes are raised to 90%

There was never a "trust fund" for SS.
It was always put into the "general fund", and used as they wished.
That's why it was a Ponzi scheme.
They relied on the new entrants to pay for what they stole from the older members.
It was doomed from the start.
I realize that I paid into it. I paid for alot of things that the stupid gov't did with my money. If I ever do get anything, it'll be a miracle.
I'd settle for a free country back, and I'd call it even.

lol yep i'm with you... but the SS fund was not put into the general fund at the beginning.. as time went on and the funds grew the politicians saw that money and then raided the fund.. they took the money and put in IOU's they will never be paid back! the US government has 53 trillion in promises to pay.. you are right we will never see a dime! this is why government should mind its own business and let people plan there own lives!
