I'm not very familiar with Walter Williams, but the guy sounds great. I plan to read more of his work soon.

Ron Paul 2012 - Not just for America, for the World!

"Isn't that theft?"

THat was awesome!

ps. this vid didn't work for me in Firefox 3. But it did in IE 7,

Just finished watching part 2

Wow, Walter hosed him! That Bernstein has got a big ego....

Just watched the C-Span vid...

That was pretty good. I wonder if those student-conservatives he was talking to were shocked? Cuz, his message was not a conservative one--it was a radical one...

Mr. Williams has been around a while ...

You should here him explain the merits of selling human organs on the open market.

Obviously, he is not a politician.

WAHOR!!

Selling organs?

That's great!
He's a good man.

Not THE Russell Means

I'm not THE Russell Means. I just happen to like most of what he stands for.

Nice

Hey I graduated from Mason, so I feel a tad bit happy. ;p

Speaker for Rally

I contacted CFL and suggested that they try to get Dr. Williams as a speaker at the Rally for the Republic. If you agree and want to hear Dr. Williams in person, please contact CFL.

I've read Williams for

I've read Williams for years. He wants to bring war on the Great Society of Prez Johnson. Not the military...simply all the freebies.

I did also. When this was being 'talked up' as a way to 'save the poor' my young husband and I were both working our butts off just to survive while the IRS was taking as much from our paychecks as we were using to pay for our house, car, clothing, food and utilities. I figured that if we could work so could everyone else. 'You don't work, you don't eat' were famous words to which I ascribed.

I wrote letters to congress, letters to editors and even had a small following of folks that jumped in to help. Alas, this Great Society came into being with only the smallest protest..not politically correct, you see, to protest being robbed to give to someone else. Especially people labeled as 'poor'...or 'disadvantaged.'

Now everyone, anyone, can see what they did with those tax dollars..except the ones that lined the pockets of the corrupt...those giant apartment complexes became merely bases for gangs and drug sales/users...horribly delapidated before they were ten years old.

The Great Society merely created generations of folks who don't think they need to work...someone else will take care of their needs...folks whose sense of 'entitlement' is so entrenced that they get very huffy if it's even suggested that they are living on the efforts of others and not 'govment'. this free giveaway is not likely to be stopped...can you even imagine the riots and the total hell that would be raised if the monthly entitlement check didn't arrive?

Dr. Williams is not a politician as you can see ...

I do know that he is somewhat of a warhawk and in favor of the war on terror and the Iraq invasion.

I would be interested in his views on wether or not he agrees with the un constitutional approach that we have gone about it. I.E. without a declaration of war.

"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever." - Thomas Jefferson

"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."

That was great stuff. How

That was great stuff.
How unoriginal were that socialist hack's points? pathetic.

Power To The People?

I agree

That was so lame when he started accusing Walter of just using "rhetoric."
And, a bit later he got scared and had to ask Larry to let him speak.

Williams isn't consistent

Before you start applauding Walter Williams, listen carefully to what he said or didn't say. Like most conservatives, he only singled out welfare. He said that he would end any program that took money from one person and gave it to another. All government actions do this!!! That includes the Military, Intelligence, Law Enforcement as well as traditional welfare programs. But you may have noticed that Williams didn't propose abolishing those. Like most "free market" conservatives, he thinks that only welfare state taxation is unjust not all taxation.

That is an excellent point

He has not taken his reasoning to its conclusion...

Agreement

I'd have to agree with that however.

I would support taxes for a military, for the function of government, police, public projects such as bridges, roads, etc.

Taxation isn't always evil. I don't believe that the income tax is the way to get there, there are plenty of other areas for the government to make their money.

What Williams is opposing here is taking from one man's pocket and putting it into another man's pocket. I'll agree with what he said there. I don't know anything else about the guy however.

Eric Hoffer

Taxation is theft

What instances of theft are okay?

Again

I'll make the same argument. Taxation was set for us in the Constitution. Income tax was not, however, government has to be financed in some way by the people. We need a military capable of defending our borders. We need a national guard, we need police, we need roads, etc.

My problem is the idea of taxing from me to give to someone who is poor or who isn't working, etc. We're the most generous country in the world in terms of giving to non profits of our free will, we don't need taxes to give to the poor.

Do not take from my pocket to put in the arms of another citizen. Do take my money to place a gun in the hands of the police officer who came to my store tonight to shake off a guy casing the joint.

Eric Hoffer

Why not fund it voluntarily?

You can beat around the bush with taxation in its various forms...
But the bottom line is that it is involuntary--how is that consistent with liberty?

So, why not fund gov't voluntarily ?

No need to do this ...

disban the army and privatize everything else.

Make the politicians keep their day jobs.

Set the annual federal buget at $0.

WAHOR!!

Ron Paul is the only

Ron Paul is the only well-known celebrity Liberty advocate who is consistent.

The rest are varying shades of grey--Naomi Wolf, liberal supporter of Gore and Obama; Dennis Kucinich, socialist; Tucker Carlson, MSM talking head; Jesse Ventura, as much a Perot type as a libertarian type. Walter Williams--essentially a mainstream conservative who guest hosts on Rush Limbaugh.

It's a rally--I say all are welcome, despite ideological impurities.

You're absolutely right Kevin,

We are not going to find anybody else of Ron Paul's stature, and we need to reach out to likeminded groups.

Well, yep, at a rally. I
