i question this timing...
when we are so close--why post all this info here??? we have RNC checking a lot right now!! imho...this timing is not good ;(
WTF are you talking about?
We have RNC checking a lot right now!! Checking on what for who? They won't even let RP on the floor without escort, I wouldn't be surprised if they hand cuffed and blind folded him before he is let on the floor.
This info is for whomever! This is the first time all the RP delegates are gathered in one place at the same time. This info has been out there for some time. I have posted this info in the hope that a strategy could be formed around it for the Delegates that want to see our man speak at the convention.
The Delegates need to find a way to get a Resolution filed with the Resolution Committee! That may be their only chance to be heard. More later.
Latest "HARD" Delegate Count
2380 total delegates.
1191 delegate votes needed to win the nomination.
Hard Total:(Hard Pledged)
John McCain: 1137
that is 54 shy of "Hard pledge delegate votes needed to win the nomination.
Unpledged: 581
Uncommited: 340
Huckabee: 166
Romney: 146
Ron Paul: 10
The RNC will secure the nomination for McCain weather the levee breaks or not. Can't you feel the spin. They have spun GOP(Gustav Obfuscation Package) right across to the Lame Stream Media and right down our Tube.
Anyways maybe we can get lucky and get through the first vote with a delegate revolt on the way to nominating Ron Paul.
This info gathered from:

If only one delegate says "aye" they will say:"The Ayes have it"
IF someone makes a motion to suspend the rules (and have no roll call vote) that is the time for someone to call out, "Objection!" And someone else must second the Objection.
But watching all those delegates there with heads bowed during the blessing of the convention by a mystic of faith suggests that these folks are not skeptics, do not challenge shibboleths, have been raised to be obedient to their leaders, are not the type who wonder whether what they have been taught to accept on faith without question is really true, in short, not using the faculty of reason which is the birthright of a human being.
I doubt any of them watched the thought provoking DVDs sent to them by the DVDs4Delegates project. If they did they probably suffered a mind seizure and just went completely out of focus at those moments when McCain showed his true colors.
If you want to see the DVDs just go to youtube.com and enter RNC Delegate Video #1 which is in 14 segments of about ten minutes each.
It was made too in time to just miss addressing the consequence of Sarah for VP. She wants to have the public schools teach Creationism alongside Evolution in science classes! Outrageous! Why not hand out lanterns which contain a genie who answers three questions? So much for teaching children how to think! No wonder our country is falling behind the rest of the world.

Agreed
As much as I enjoy the "whoopie cushion response," I strongly endorse the "Objection!" response.
Also -- and I don't know whether this is Robert Rules Approved™-- there was a suggestion that people shout out something like "Call for Roll Call vote" or some such. Whichever response is the appropriate, by-the-book response is the way to go.

Virginia—1 (63 comtd to McCain)
Kentucky-1 (42 comtd to McCain, 3 uncomtd)
With these states listed it looks like there are approximately 765 un committed delegates on the floor, again these are just from states that show a Ron Paul Delegate or alt. Maybe someone on the floor of the RNC can take this and start working some magic. This information was gathered from:

A tip o' the hat to Captain
That was fine research!! Well done!!!
half + 1 needed at RNC for a quorum!
That means 1201 delegates, if we have 765, WE HAVE MORE THAN HALF!!!
Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Numbers game
765 is just the unpledged, that was added up by states listed in the original thread, not those secured by Ron Paul, that number is undetermined at this point, beyond the 10 listed.
is that how many it takes to control the floor?
or just form quorum?
No, according to the rules a quorum can be called with half +1
of the delegates. That means only 1201 delegates to the RNC need to be present. If we have 765 of those present we can control the quorum, we will have the numbers.
Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
WOW!!! THAT IS GREAT WORK!!
I have some questions on some of the numbers you posted...so if online stick around...I will post them here shortly ..
Numbers game
The website referred to previously has Hard Delegate count totals, dare I say, assumed to be based on latest official state records. McCain is listed as having only 1137 pledged delegates. That falls 54 short of 1191 needed. 2380 - 1137 = 1243.
1243 is the number of delegates that McCain does not have secured. Those are divided up by Uncommited, unpledged, Romney, Huckabee, Paul, and all others combined.

Bump please
"OBJECTION" is what must be called out, not BOO or Hiss!
It is my understanding that the Republican Rules for the Convention hold that if there is a call or a motion for suspending the rules or procedure in order for there to be a voice vote for acclamation that one must yell out "OBJECTION!" in order to have a roll call vote on the issue.
Boos and Hisses will be ignored!
The Objection must also be seconded!
I have not read the rules but base this on another post here somewhere.
Still hoping for our delegates to do what they can to stop McCain as pretty as his running mate is!
Imagine though she is an Evangelical who wants Creationism taught in the compulsory public schools along with Evolution and is opposed to a woman's right to choose no matter whether she was raped, pregnant as a result of incest, or even if her life is at stake!

Will it be ok
If the first objection is not only seconded but followed by the loud sound of hundreds of objections, because that is what will happen, right?

Simply BOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Say no by booing.
May sound simple, but nomination by acclamation is basically a voice vote. If it doesn't sound like an acclamation, it won't be one.
So boo if it does come to that.
It's our only hope, and we have to be as loud as humanly possible.
Sounds good to me.
