Using Imperialism to build oil/corporate dominance alwasy fails
Here is an article explaining how the Neocon-Isreali Zionists imperialistic ways to control the oil, has again backfired on them. http://rense.com/general82/truth.htm

Want to understand
the article, look at striking similarities with neocon Dick Morris take on it, in any case with the heading and basic idea.
http://www.newsmax.com/morris/russia_invades_georgia/2008/08...
Remember some neocons also want to portray Dr. Paul as a Neville Chamberlain appeaser with his call for dialogue with Iran, lifting of sanctions towards Cuba etc.? Remember in the debates McCain tried to portray Dr. Paul in the same light and blame for how Hitler rose to power.
One should have a cool head at all times - like Dr. Paul - and discover the whole picture as well as in detail. Lew Rockwell came to the same conclusion.
The issue is that Russia recognise South Ossetia as aligned to Russia and a separate entity and started providing them with Russian passports.
The previous Russian foreign minister's mother was Georgian and the current Russian foreign minister is an Armenian-Russian and he (or his father) was born in the capital of Russia. They do have some ethnic relationship with Georgians thus, much more than the Asian countries of the former USSR. Newest info is that Russia will retreat. We got to "root out" the neocon influence: they tend to emotionalize the whole issue and tend to overact, but with a hidden agenda.
What US response from a libertarian/non-intervention perspective
I like Barr's take on it, very much like Dr. Paul's. Cannot find any response/statement on the Baldwin website. Barr has plenty of reactions on different issues:
http://www.bobbarr2008.com/press/press-releases/85/russia-ge...
well
Someone with Ex-CIA ties better have good information on what his buddies are and were up to. Just saying.
well,
I do not think all people with the CIA are evil, and Barr left decades ago. Dr. Paul also has at least two CIA foreign policy advisers: Philip Giraldi and Michael Scheuer. Just saying...
"John Galt"
the writer of the article seems like a neocon. national greatness interventionist. Here is a very different take. http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=13285
actually John Galt is a Ron
actually John Galt is a Ron Paul supporter! reread the article don't skim over it!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Prov. 22:3; 27:12 KJV)
Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
John Galt
is a name in Atlas Schrugs by Ayn Rand, and Rand was an interventionist.
If you understand the philosophical basis of the non-interventionist policy and the conservative foreign policy of the Old Right, then you will know one is limited and the US does not understand the local situation in Georgia. Many Americans would not even know where it is on a map. One also wonders whether John knows European history: fact is all/most european countries saw the reconnection with the Sudeten Germans are acceptable and this is NOT appeasement. You have to know something about the pre-WW1 borders and Versailles treaty, which was not just. If Hitler only "connected" Sudenten Germans (till today 3 million and still an issue, I lived in Germany) and AUstria with Germany there would have been no problem at all. The cause/issue with WW2 was when they invaded Poland after this.
Russia is not so communist anymore, it is more a mixed economy. The same with China. Mind you, the US is also not capitalist, more a corporate dominance. After the fall of the wall, the USSR split and they simply want to reconnect with the Russians in South Ossetia etc. in Georgia. If it stops with that, then, no problem. The US should not intervene, but if Russia would go further and want to "take-over" non-Russian parts of Georgia, then only it should require action, and more from Europe than the US. The Europeans understand the situation much better than neocon Americans!
On the basis of Galt's argumentation, the Middle Eastern countries can also argue that Iraq seems to be the "Sudentenland" excuse for invading, after Afghanistan. The US has already 2 occupations on its platter: what is next Iran and Syria???
The LORD is worshipped in many countries, not only the US.
It is a fascinating take
but there's something about it that bothers me. I agree with one of the author's points, and it's a good one, that the US is no longer strong enough militarily or economically to stop the Russians in Georgia (without starting WWIII). But he seems to be saying that Putin is Hitler, and I'm not buying that. Maybe Bush is Hitler. Maybe Sudetenland has nothing at all in common with Georgia. If anybody gave away Georgia to the Russians, it was the US. We are the ones (with help from Israel) that armed and trained the Georgians and probably pushed them to attack South Ossetia, giving the Russians a reason to go in and kick ass. I really didn't care for the author's fatalistic view of marxism either, always being smarter and one step ahead of the rest of the world. The comment that Lisa posted resonated better with me.
Gil, I think what he is
Gil, I think what he is saying is that putin and booosh are in it together!
its a double cross! look at what our government did to saddam hussain when they said they didn't care if he went into kuwait in 90' basically the elites/cfr/etc. are setting up a war of muslims vs Christians.. georgia if I am not mistaken is predominetly muslim.. this is the problem, in order to have a one world government, you have to have a one world religion, one world bank, one world money, etc etc etc.. right now there are 2 religions that stand in the way of this "utopia" Islam and Christianity.. Christianity except for some are going along with the new world order.. the muslims are not! think about this!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Prov. 22:3; 27:12 KJV)
Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
I can go along
the notion that Russia was set up. But I can't go along with a Muslim vs. Christian thing. I think it has more to do with controlling the movement of energy and the geopolitical power that goes along with it.
I don't think Georgians are predominantly Muslim. They make and consume a shitload of wine. Devout Muslims don't behave like that.
Don't trust either side
I wouldn't trust Putin as far as I can throw him. But... I trust him a hell of a lot more than Bush.
The only thing you can trust in either of those guys is that they will lie lie lie.
Thats the best way
To play these things.
Thanks, I'll check it out
there is also a lot of great info at antiwar.com.

Putin is not Hitler!
Putin is not Hitler, he's a very smart politician. Russia is not going to retreat forever. Saakashvili has crossed the line and the Georgian people are going to pay. Why are we continuing to support delusional maniacs? Perhaps this is more "creative destruction".
I totally
agree with you Putin is not Hitler! The US has to hear BOTH sides of the story. We all know the neocons national greatness attitude and that their real goal is to combat Russia and China, whom they see as competitors.
Like with Israel and Palestine, there are probably atrocities on both sides: Georgia and Russia.
Richard B Cheney
Is that you??? I would've never thought you a Ron Paul supporter!
Cheney
actually supports an attack on Russia fyi:

From someone smarter than me:
" To all; the news of Russia attacking Georgia and firing on the gas pipeline is huge and has far greater ramifications than the markets are giving credit. This in my opinion will morph into a "they attacked us" from the US. This pipeline was conceived, funded and built, by and for the west. We have 2 carrier groups headed to that location as I write this. I certainly do not believe that Putin is a madman or incompetent. He knows full well what can of worms is now opened. I can only surmise these actions to be part of a grander scheme. I can only take a guess as to what this grander scheme is, however over the last couple of weeks we have heard more and more rumblings of either Israel alone or with US help making a strike at Iran. Possibly this is pre emptive on Putin's part. Maybe they had advance intel of a strike on Iran? There is no way to know for sure until we know. Geographically Iran is close to Russia and would constitute strike three for oil supply with Saudi Arabia and Iraq already under western control. All of this is speculation, however I can't see the upside and rosy picture portrayed in US markets today. Because of these counterintuitive reactions, I think it goes without saying that today is the coup de grace of market manipulations. If this turns out to really be Russia telling the US to put up or shut up, you can bet that oil, metals, and commodities in general will move to new highs within a 2-3 trading day time period. Another good bet would be a toilet flush on most all things paper and or Dollar related.
I can't see this as a whimsical move by Putin. His resume is too impressive ie [KGB, chessmaster, Judo black belt, and now virtually "permanent" leader of Russia], to have made these moves without thinking extremely far ahead. It pains me as a patriotic American to think that Russia is calling the hand of US banking and military supremacy. The Chinese philosophy of waiting for battle until your opponent is weakened is probably at play here. The banking system is upside down for all intents and purposes. Our military has been spread out across the globe, machinery has been worn out, and the US population is certainly tired of the Iraq incursion. I hope our leaders in Washington have thought as far or further ahead than our adversaries. If this truly is Russia calling our hand at poker, we will shortly be asked to pay for our imports with foreign currency or in Gold. It smells like economic warfare to me but that remains to be seen."

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
Let us see
George Bush sr was CIA director and he has been in office since a long time, first as VP since 1980 and after 12 years, his son for 8 years... much longer presidency than Putin! If I were a Russian, I would also not trust the US administration, especially after they armed Al Queda and the Taliban against Russia in the past, and then only to invade Iraq under the guidance of WMD, the same with Iran.
The world is sick of American arrogance!
