Wow... communication is an ART... if we master it... we WIN

So many have complained that no one listens to them... well maybe it's because we've been taught bad habits by the media... they don't want us to cooperate... they want us bumping heads.

Gandhi has an answer and I suggest you check it out... and more importantly try it out. We've fallen into a lazy rut of only giving our opinion instead of sacrificing to earn the respect of another.

It's called Satyagraha

In traditional violent and nonviolent conflict, the goal is to defeat the opponent or frustrate the opponent’s objectives, or to meet one’s own objectives despite the efforts of the opponent to obstruct these. In satyagraha, by contrast, these are not the goals. “The Satyagrahi’s object is to convert, not to coerce, the wrong-doer.” Success is defined as cooperating with the opponent to meet a just end that the opponent is unwittingly obstructing. The opponent must be converted, at least as far as to stop obstructing the just end, for this cooperation to take place.

The theory of satyagraha sees means and ends as inseparable. The means used to obtain an end are wrapped up and attached to that end. Therefore, it is contradictory to try to use unjust means to obtain justice or to try to use violence to obtain peace. As Gandhi wrote: “They say, 'means are, after all, means'. I would say, 'means are, after all, everything'. As the means so the end...”[

I'm studying Graphic Design

I'm studying Graphic Design and it's going to be one of the biggest booms in terms of jobs in the near future. I'm still learning how to get into the game but it's very fun, even though some days are just dreadful. But, for freedom, I'll do my part and play along in any way I can. :)

Yah, Ghandi had it right.

It's scary as hell when you hit someone and they ignore it.

This is a great post!!! Thank you

We should always strive to 'teach' our opponent so they 'understand'.

On its merits the message is dominant

The key is learning how to express yourself and deal with people in a quality manner.

Learn to express yourself....

YES! This is what I would love to hear more discussion and active education here on DP! We need to be able to present our ideas in an acceptable, knowledgable, fact-based marketable manner to the mainstream!! Breast feed, spoon feed, then solid foods!! lol! Sales tactics, marketing and understanding our current "market opportunities" is what I would love to have more focus on here!!

This post got me thinking...

This post got me thinking... We might benefit tremendously by doing focus groups with liberal and conservative people, and test out multiple ways of getting them to understand our freedom message.

Our politicians use consulting firms that do research into finding the best use for words and phrases. We could use the same strategy but for our message.

'Satyagraha'

Please read the OP and some of the great comments down below!! I am bumping this today as we are discussing the astroturfing of our movement and how to respond effectively to OUR advantage!

also see this post for understanding the term ASTROTURFING ( fake grassroots )

Thanks

for digging this up.

garden plot...I am glad you saw this

I saw your post today ..and while some took offense..I understand what you are saying! We need to take advantage of the opportunity and by education and example market the true principles of Liberty! Truth will prevail ...but it is the sales technique of advancing that to a willing audience and leaving a good impression! Steering the MSM media spin "our way" is going to have to be understood as a marketing and sales opportunity!!

It sounds like a great idea as long as people come with the...

TRUTH. Otherwise our compromised media can just broadcast an alternative view and drowned out any real discussion as just another opinion.

I think we each have to take a stand against injustice but it won't actually amount to anything until we can rally around an injustice so great that everyone sees it.

Gandhi, in his march to the sea..salt march... pointed out a great hypocracy and luckily people got the message... I think we can set up the mechanism... but it's the message or a particular version of the message that is going to resonate.

However, I'm going to take your idea and flesh it out at our local meeting. And see if concensus on a particular hot button topic is possible.

I also added a link on my Education page to the Co-Intelligence page on CDCs.

Well we definitely have to

Well we definitely have to nurture a culture of dialogue in this country. Mike you've seen my posts about like co-intelligence stuff. Deliberative Councils are a great way to foster that!

Think of it like this(this is the very quick version!):

A deliberative council is formed, let's say at the national level.

The panel of citizens discusses the issues at hand and then comes up with their consensus.

Then from there, everyone in the whole nation now has a shared dialogue to engage in about not only something they all know about, but also something that is relevant and important! Instead of everyone talking about how nasty Simon Cowell is, we all talk about what the Council came up with and see what we think about it.

Talk show hosts talk about it for weeks with interviews, guests, and call ins. Jay Leno jokes about it. Hollywood actors promote it. School teachers discuss it with students and at lunch, priests and pastors discuss it on Sunday, common everyday people also talk about it and it gives EVERYONE a basis for discussion and dialogue that is unparalelled today!!!

This model can be applied locally as well, with many varying formats, but basically it comes down to the citizenry having a voice and a common vision.

We've got to fight tyranny... with Freedom!

Just as Gandhi said "Be the change you would like to see in others" we must live free as an example to others. freedom is responsibility though and thats the tough part. If we want to be free we must confront injustice... and that can be dangerous, nevertheless... if we don't do it now...it's only going to get worse later.

But the entire article was FILLED with wisdom. I got blown away.

We need people to step up...

We need to get people's attention...

This idea is truely powerful.

It is so important we discipline ourselves to change the way

we think... so much of what we do is main stream programming.

The media wants us to be sorry ignorant wusses. We need to believe in ourselves and believe in our message... but we also need to know how to break through the programming... and this is it!!!
