Anybody notice their fruit is odd lately?

0 votes

I always buy fruit from the store, but lately the fruit has been odd.

It looks fine on the outside, but when you bite into it it feels really dry and artificial.

So far I had watermelon, peaches, and pears -- all ripe, but I have to stop eating them and throw them out.

The inside of the pear I just bit into was almost like moistened chalk.

Anyone have a clue what is up?

The 2008 Acres U.S.A. Conference

This event comes highly recommended by a long time family farmer and fellow Ron Paul supporter........

"Mark your calendar . . .
The 2008 Acres U.S.A. Conference
Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 4-6, 2008
Pre-Conference Intensive Study Options, Dec. 1-3, 2008
Hyatt Regency Union Station, St. Louis, Missouri"

"The Acres U.S.A. Conference is the premier event nationwide for commercial-scale sustainable and organic agriculture. Several hundred eco-minded individuals from around the world gather together to tap the knowledge of some of agriculture’s brightest minds.

We bring in dozens of speakers to cover all facets of eco-agriculture — soils, crops, weed and insect control, livestock management — and make the connection between the soil and human and animal health as well. These are the leading authors, the master consultants, successful farmers, the people who are on the cutting edge of progress in harmony with nature.

Together, they represent hundreds of years of experience. They have lived through the very challenges you might be facing. Come tap their minds, tap their knowledge bank.

Dozens of eco-suppliers display the latest agricultural technology that yields results without offending nature. These savvy suppliers themselves meet and speak to many, many farmers like yourself throughout the year. They also are an abundant source of knowledge and experience.

But attendees frequently tell us that the real meeting seems to be a meeting of the minds. Countless mini-conferences break out in the hallways and lobbies as you meet other people of like mind. If you feel alone in your area as one who really cares about the conditioning of the soil you leave behind for your grandchildren, you’ll feel right at home at the Acres U.S.A. Conference — and probably come home with a few new friends as well.

The conference lasts three full days. Plan to stay for the full meeting — only then will you be best equipped to overhaul your own farm plan.

If you make the journey, you can be assured you will more than profit from your investment of time and effort. You’ll pick up knowledge from these master consultants that they normally charge hundreds of dollars for. You’ll be able to farm more effectively, with lower inputs and greater profits. It’s the biggest bargain in biological agriculture.

Most conference attendees attend year after year after year. This year’s conference promises to be even bigger and more information-packed than ever. Come and see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Meet you in St. Louis!"

It's just logical

And it's not just fruits. When large supermarkets compete, they simply want to sell as much stuff as possible for the highest possible margin. Well, as most people don't taste the diff that often it makes sense to prioritize like this:

0) sticking to govt rules
1) looks
2) price
3) taste

I know that in Europe for example, chicken is allowed (govt rules) to have a certain percentage water. So water is injected into our boneless chicken. Doesn't alter the looks, lowers the price per kg (water is much cheaper then chicken). And the taste... Oh well if 5% of the people start going to the butcher instead who cares.

In India, people found out what stuff to inject into melons to make them red inside. Less govt rules, same principle.

In the US, hotdogs are not

In the US, hotdogs are not allowed to contain more than 25% hair and feathers. Isn't that gross???

Yuk

Thats disgusting, thats a fact!

My uncle said years ago (after he witnessed the making of, 20 years or so ago) that if you knew what went into hotdogs you wouldn't eat 'em!

This is nasty stuff

organic fruit and veggies is the only way to go!

Each year, more and more health conscious companies are

being bought out by corporate america (Bert's Bees, Tom's of Maine, Seeds of Change, Arrowhead Mills, Muir Glen, etc.). Thus the health food stores are inadvertently opening their back doors to the very corporations we are trying to avoid. A non-profit corporation is needed to have first refusal at buying successful health companies outright or at least their tm when the owners are ready to retire and no family members wish to take the reins.

Love (consciousness) is in everything including the void.

Stockpile your supplements and green foods now...start growing your gardens...my hubby and i love holt m.d.'s berries and greens superfood powder, tastes like mint and raspberries and it's very, very nutritious...plus a lot cheaper than some of the superfood powders on the market (that taste like grass clippings or worse, blech!)

We can't wait to get out of the city and into a house where we can grow our own food in an organic garden! Until then, we buy local from farmers and drink our greens every day. You won't believe how much energy it gives you!

I mourn the taste of truly great produce. In the past couple years, I've been very saddened by the state of the fresh sections at our grocery stores. Radiation and pesticides, yick!

Blackberries are a good option to grow for those who have the garden space. They're full of antioxidants, delicious, and hardy...they WILL take over whatever space they're given, and then some. Nothing like August blackberries, sun-ripened and perfect...mmm...

Did you refrigerate it?

It sounds like freeze damage.

Support a CSA!

We noticed the quality of our grocery store produce has gone WAY downhill in the last few years, so we now support a CSA farm (Community Supported Agriculture). We give a farm a few hundred bucks at the beginning of the year, and then we receive a lot of great organic produce throughout the year. That way you keep local farms in business and you get the best produce money can buy, for cheaper than you'd pay at the grocery store! It is a great system if you have CSAs in your area. Check out localharvest.org/CSA for more info.

Can you say FRANKENSTEIN Food?

These fruits and vegetables have been genetically engineered, grown in labs and subjected to radiation -- all to keep the fruit looking better on the outside but a tasteless mushy cardboard inside.

I cannot believe only 1 poster below is aware of this, that most of the ingredients you buy in the regular supermarket have been genetically tampered with and modified. Say hello to my little friend Cancer.

The solution? Get yourself an aerogarden if you don't have a back yard. Buy your own ORGANIC seeds and plant your own fruits and vegetables.

Only purchase your fruits and vegetables from your local health food store co-op or from a farmer who only grows organic.

Just Say No to Monsanto!
(do a google search on that one)

And BTW, if you're not a vegan or vegetarian and you eat fish, you should be aware that a Norwegian fishery just reported they are VACCINATING the diseased fish -- who are suffering from pancreatic disease and heart problems from the unnatural fish farm conditions -- and setting them out to sea!

Care for a little vaccine in your salmon tartar??

It's a really good time now, boys and girls, to become a vegan...

This may or may not be the one you were thinking of, but it sure is an eye-opener: The World According to Monsanto, Part 1 (get parts 2 - 10 from that page).

I already commented with this link in this topic, but it's now languishing on page two of this thread!

i've been complaining about the quality

I've been complaining about the quality of fruits and vegetables for the last 2 weeks, too! the entire grocery store is full of terrible looking stuff.

then, 2 days ago i bit into an apple that tasted that tobacco. no joke. i couldn't eat it.

Doctor Paul needs to speak up and so do we, don't you people see what is going on in our skies. Dennis Kucinich mentions Chemtrails once in 2001 and never again.

LOL

That would destroy Dr. Paul's credibility. Chemtrail talk is craziness. Everybody in their right mind knows that these trails are just naturally occuring vapor. Unintentional man-made clouds, if you will.

Wow, you are just plain ignorant

It's called geo-engineering and it's been going on for years.

China just used it by launching rockets into the sky to prevent rain during the Olympics.

I got some really bad plums

I got some really bad plums from Giant Eagle recently that looked and felt ripe but when you bit into them they seemed really mushy on the outermost layer and hard and watery in the middle, I ended up throwing away everyone of them after the first bite. I've also been growing hot peppers in a garden for the past couple years and this year they seem less consistent in their growth and ripening. I'm from western PA and it seems a bit chilly for August which is why I think last year my habaneros where about the same size and growing peppers at about the same time and this year some are huge with nearly ripe peppers and others are a few inches tall just starting to form flowers. I understand there are a number of things to take into account I just found it very contrast to last year and figured I'd mention it.

Also I'd like to mention I just registered with the DP, I check it at least twice everyday for new interesting posts, and I feel I've gained a lot of insight from other members posts and personal input. I've never seen a more passionate, intelligent and down to earth group of people than Ron Paul supporters. When I first became interested in Ron Paul it seemed like nobody in my area even heard of him. I felt extremely hopeful after learning Ron Paul's message and quite quickly turned my friends on to what he had to say. Time went on and it seemed I was bumping into more and more RP supporters (I'm sure the big Ron Paul stickers on the side of my car aided that:-). Then I stumbled across the Daily Paul and have been reading it since, and I figure since I gained a lot from the Daily Paul I'd like to give back by becoming an active member and sharing any useful knowledge or insight I may have to share.

Thank you to all who in one way or another make such a wonderful opportunity possible.

Magm

I Haven't

bought any fruit from the stores lately but I had some excellent Red Flame Grapes from my backyard. There ain't nothing wrong with them except there isn't enough of them LOL.But I made sure to plant a few more of the seeds so I can have some more vines next year.Me and my birds fought over my Peaches though, and my neighbors culled my Pears.Blackberries were good also, but I've yet to see any Apples this year.
Peace

funny,

I was just thinking that today as I was looking at my orange tree and noticed my oranges look funny.
I have watered them but when I eat them they are really dry like if they were grown in the desert!
I think its because of the plants here are being tricked by the weather.

Tomatoes are a fruit, too!

The tomatoes at my grocery store have been horrid for the last few weeks. The two batches I bought started developing mold spots 1-2 days after I purchased them!

we bought apples recently that were organic...

but had no seeds in them!
is that normal to get apples without seeds?
also - is it normal for apples with seeds - for them to be full of fungus or sprouted already? it seems like a few apples - their bases were punctured and air got to the seeds.

just don't' know.
if you do, help us out please.

Farmers Markets

I try to get what I need at a farmers market or buy the canned stuff...When I have bought so called fresh fruits and veggies at the flea market the taste stays in my mouth for days..the bad taste....Ever spray bug spray and breath it in by accident?..thats what the store bought stuff taste like.

most fruit and vetables have been weird and bad for years now

my sister bought some eco-box that was delivered to the door once a week last year... no gmo and only normal and fresh stuff... was good..

my father grows much in summertime... and to compare it is ridiculous..

take a tomato for example.. a homegrown smells and taste like a tomato..mmm

buy one in a store it is tasteless, mushy..and has no smell at all..

Growing and buying organic is a good beginning. However,

we must not forget the nature spirits if we want a more complete solution to nutriious, healthy, and lip-smacking produce. These elementals are responsible for everything that grows. My wife and I have been working with these beings and although we have a rather small back yard, she carries a beautiful energy. It's wonderful. One thing all of us resolved together involved our 100 year old grapevine which I transplanted from my grandparents residence. The vine was growing nicely with lushous grape clusters. Two problems then developed: 1. The broad leaves were being eaten by Japanese beetles and 2. The grapes were being sucked dry by yellow jackets. What to do? Being students of Finehorn and Michele Small Wright (permaculture), we decided to work with the nature spirits, beetles, and wasps rather than try extermination methods. We sat down and explained the situation to everyone, that we wanted a healthy, productive grapevine and that the insects could go elsewhere to thrive and not be at risk. After repeating this statement over several days, the insects moved out and have not returned after many years. So, in summary, check out Finehorn, MSW (she has wonderful essenses for the garden), compost your food wastes, and try obtaining some volcanic ash for your garden and plants. Then watch the magic happen!

Maybe we can use that

Maybe we can use that strategy on the neocons.

I may have a clue

Our soils have been depleted of mineral content ... which is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR PLANTS AND THE PEOPLE WHO EAT THEM TO THRIVE AND SURVIVE..

Chemical fertilizers certainly make fruits look good. Unfortunately, they are empty of the mineral nutrients they're supposed to have to help sustain life. And, without minerals, they are often flavorless. When minerals are taken up by a plant, it turns them into an organic form that is easy for us to assimilate. it makes them both more nourishing and tastier. Minerals dissolved in drinking water are not as bio-available to humans.

If you have a garden, you need to add lots of rock dust (Google it) to your soil in order to produce healthy, life sustaining plants.

Even organically grown foods, if grown in mineral poor soil, are not that nourishing. (But, at least they don't add insult to injury by poison you).

Of course, the bible has much to say about letting land lie fallow every so often and, crop rotation would surely help too, however, these "suggestions" don't seem to suit the operators of our modern chemical single crop mega farms. That's why we should support small, local farmers and let the pretty veggies and fruits at the supermarket rot in their bins. (But that won't happen).

It was only a matter of time before the effects of agri-business farming became painfully obvious. The time is now, I guess.
.

I've read the same thing

It seems to be that a lot of the disease we see today is more or less related to the lack of vegetables in our diets (A) and also that the soil has less minerals than it did since the dust bowl (B). Makes sense to me...

Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.
