08/15/08 NEW ZOGBY Poll 55% of Americans want Bob Barr in Debates - Barr still at 6% Nationally

Ron Paul said he wants Bob Barr in the Presidential Debates and so do most Americans.
Zogby released a new poll out showing that 55% of Americans want Bob Barr in the debates with Obama and McCain. This is good news for Barr who filed a lawsuit against the California Evangelist who is sponsoring a semi-debate between Obama and McCain today. The Barr camp says that the debate is breaking Federal Election Laws and had filed for an injuction to halt the debate, which was denied by the judge, although the judge did say Barr was
probably harmed by not being included.
Barr is still at 6% nationally according to Zogby, and will need to gain 4% to be able to attend the League of Women Voter's Debate this fall.

Most polls don't include Barr. Those that do have him at 1-2%. Where do you see him at 6%? I wish I could support him but he's just not "Ron Paulish" enough for me.

In all fairness there should be a debate for the V.P.'s as well.

Unfortunately Ron Paul is not running so if you want to continue on and get the message out there then Bob Barr is the only one polling close enough to maybe work his way in to the debates,
Its too bad people aren't realistic and understand that its not about the man its about the message.

Wow that's kind of big! I'm no Bob Barr fan but it will still be exciting to see how he does it in the election. It is in a way a kind of barometer to see how many people truly stands for core libertarian ideas - even IF Bob Barr would be a daemon in human skin clothing=)

First, the Daily Paul is no longer a website dedicated to getting Ron Paul elected, as you can see by the change made in the header its dedicated to restoring constitutional government. So anything about that process is fair game here. Second, even if it was just about Ron Paul then my post is still appropriate because Ron Paul said on national television that he wants Bob Barr in the Presidential debates.

I received Bob Barr Bumper stickers this week and put them on my car. I am proud that I am supporting a candidate for President who believes in the US Constitution and is traveling the country speaking out for our individual liberties, peace, and prosperity. I look forward to receiving buttons and leaflets so I can start talking to people I meet and telling them the good news of the Libertarian running for President, Bob Barr.

Clarification
Libertarians have been supporting Ron Paul since at least 1988. We support many candidates for public office, year after year, regardless of their chances to be elected.
Nothing says one can't support more than one candidate. Ron Paul hasn't been nominated, yet. Bob Barr has been. There is no conflict.
I would LOVE to have both on my ballot and have to choose between them. Until that happens, they can both be supported.
I happen to think the DVD's for Delegates idea is brilliant. It will do some good and be very effective for the movement whether it gets Ron Paul nominated or not.

but I am not going to make people believe this nonsense that Ron Paul is going to be nominated from the floor. If somehow you think that some DVDs are going to change the political establishment with billions of dollars at stake and power hungry people willing to sell their soul for a piece of the pie, then we indeed are in big trouble.
I never thought I would see the day when my fellow Ron Paul supporters would get so desperate as to believe that their arch enemies the NeoCons would actually nominate our boy Ron Paul at their convention, and all by watching a simple DVD.
Hand-picked delegates
In our state, and I assume in most, the GOP Convention delegates were vetted and hand picked by McCain's people. The state party lackies sold their souls to keep their jobs.

Look folks, sending DVD's is a nice start on a very, very long road to "convert" those diehards who are the majority of delegates, but to think you can do it in weeks or even months with a few DVD's is like saying you can walk to the moon. Try it if you want as it can't hurt, but step back for a moment and honestly try to evaluate what you are doing. Its important in life to have those big bold goal that can take years or even a lifetime to achieve but do not try to kid yourself or anyone else into believing that you can fly, when you have gravity that will stop you every time.

People will justify just about anything to avoid the truth. The truth is that yes Bob Barr voted for the Patriot Act. I don't care what his excuse was the truth is the truth. Bob Barr continually voted unconstitutionally during his time in Congress. It is absurd that on dailypaul of all places we must yell at the top of our lungs to get our point across when we uncover the truth about a politicians voting record.

Barr voted for the Patriot Act in conference committee with the Senate- IT ALREADY PASSED - so it was a way for Barr to do damage control - even Ron Pauls own staffers said they wanted him to join the conference committee.
So let's make it clear Bob Barr voted against the Patriot Act on the first vote with Ron Paul where it passed anyway. Then Barr was invited to be on the conference committee and Ron Paul was not. By promising to vote for the final compromise version with the Senate, Barr was allowed on the committee where he then added sunset clauses and weakened the Patriot Acts language.
Wether he was on the committee or not it ALREADY PASSED the house and senate. But I guess you don't undestand the difference between voting on the house floor with a NAY and working on a committee with Senate counterparts to iron out the differences between the two chambers and then voting for the version the President signs. And while Barr regrets ever putting his name on the bill, I for one am glad he did because without Barr on the conference committee it would have been rubber stamped and been a far worse Patriot Act without sunset provisions.

It was going to pass anyway so Barr made a strategic vote so he could serve on the committee and author and support sunset clauses to terminate portions of the law after specific dates. With his vote, he made a political sacrifice for your liberty.

He did make some bad decisions in the drug war, but if politicians change their views to ours and we don't reward them with our support, what incentive is there for politicians to see things our way?
Don't buy into the comments of McCain moles who aim to divide us. Bob Barr is clearly on our side.

You need to tell the whole story about Barr then Alan. Barr advocated a need to practice a foreign policy of intervention down in South America against the "Narco Terrorists" after he had ALREADY put forth his newfound stance against the War on Drugs.
The problem with Barr is he is totally inconsistent in his stances. I'm no McCain mole and anyone that's been on this site for any length of time knows that. I just don't like or trust Barr due to his past voting decisions as well as his current statements on things like South American "Narco Terrorists".

If history repeats itself then Bob Bullshit Barr will be arrested if he attempts to enter any of the debates. In 2004 Michael Badnarik the Libertarian Nominee was arrested when he tried to enter and cross a police barricade at one of the Presidential debates. The Green party nominee was also arrested with Badnarik when trying to get into the debate. That same year Ralph Nader was threatened with arrest when he attempted to enter one of the debates as a guest commentator for one of the major networks. Nader left peacefully. There are youtube videos of these events. When are you democrats and republicans finally going to realize that the 2 party system is a complete fraud and neither party nor the government ever want a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. party to ever succeed. The two party system is a complete sham. It is both sides of a corrupt coin.

Ron Paul has ended his campaign
I'm not really getting where people think that Ron Paul has said he restarted the campaign. The Daily Paul has changed its goals which use to be getting Ron Paul elected but now its for constitutional governent. In that case Bob Barr is completely legit.
