Let's kill Wal-Mart
1.2 million people in America voted for Ron Paul, and if we all support each other economically, then we can start putting an actual dent into the exporter of Chinese fascism that is the Wal-Mart leviathan.
www.freemarketforliberty.com provides an easy way for us to do that, and once we create a thriving liberty oriented market place, then it will be easy to continuously funnel a portion of that circulating currency towards revived money bombs for liberty, because a tool will be added that will allow listing owners to show how much money they have donated to liberty candidates.
Then it will also be easy for us to keep growing our movement, because people will join just for the economic benefits, and then it will be easy for us to educate them as well.
So please support this initiative by listing your liberty supporting business today.
Also, please check out the battle that I am having over this with our brethren over at RonPaulForums:

its a crummy store
Walmart came to town about 2 years ago, so I tried it out on a few minor purchases. Three out of the four items I bought were junk. I've never bought name-brand stuff in there, except some socks which seem fine. The food is not lower priced than the big food stores in town. I choose not to even bother going in there any more.
Does Wal-Mart Suck?

I don't quite follow
but I agree with the premise.
Bad idea.
If you're trying to destroy Wal-Mart then you're not on the side of Dr. Paul. Dr. Paul is not opposed to capitalism or trade between countries. Wal-Mart is a great company.

I think Ron Paul would love this
What is more capitalist than trying to use the bit of free-market capitalism that we have left, so that we can compete with Wal-Mart, and hopefully take away all of its money for ourselves?
You are confusing competition with something like an embargo against China, and that is NOT what I am talking about.
Wal-Mart is a fabulous company in the sense that it makes a lot of money, but it is atrocious in the sense that it relies on unfair laws (NAFTA) and arguable slave labor (FASCIST China) in order to accomplish this.
It's not breaking any laws, but I don't think it deserves any humanitarian of the century awards either.
Obviously Wal-Mart is only a symptom of the disease, which on this side of the pond would be things like NAFTA, the IRS, and the Fed.
But nonetheless, the simple fact of the matter is that we would be able to make much better use of that money for ourselves, if we could compete with Wal-Mart, and spend it on businesses that we know are going to spend invest in liberty candidates.
THEN WE CAN ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE POLITICAL PROBLEMS AT THE ROOT OF THE ISSUE.
Also, made in the USA products may be able to compete too, and that would help us bring manufacturing back to the USA.
What could be more ideal at this point?
"It's not breaking any laws."
Whether or not you agree with the laws, WalMart has broken many of them and been fined billions.
Remove the government teat from WalMart's mouth and force it to compete head-to-head with companies that don't have Cheney as their best buddy.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
Oh, I was not aware...
Wal-Mart broke a lot of laws? Well, that might bolster my argument that they are a shitty company.
Remove the government teat from Walmart?
Absolutely, let's do that.
I'm just saying that we should use our army to take away its business first, so that way we can fund the political campaigning necessary to accomplish that?
Ya dig?
Well..
Ron Paul is all about free markets, but don't have that anymore..what we have now is monopoly capitalism... perhaps you like Great-Wal-Of-China-Mart destroying small businesses.
Before you go spouting off
Before you go spouting off that kind of rhetoric. Go read the Economics 101 post
Yeah
they admitted that they kill small businesses, then spun it into sounding like a good thing.
Re: Bad idea
WRONG!
The only reason Wal-Mart has got ahead is because they were first on the NAFTA bandwagon. NAFTA allowed them to get around "true" fair trade, giving them the upper hand on monopolies. Because of this, it is undermining the American economy, helping communist China and supporting slave labor.
Walmart is evil
They have singlehandedly shifted production of almost everything out of the US. Sam Walton must be rolling in his grave.
Definitely kill Walmart by whatever means necessary.
How was this done "singlehandedly"? It was not. Customers
voted with their dollars and told Wal Mart, just as with any other retailer, what products to stock. If they stocked products that their customer did not want or priced them at levels which their customers were not willing meet, then their business/sales volume would have to reflect that. One might has well blame a discount liquor store for being the cause of increased alcoholism.

Also, exactly right.
Also, exactly right.
Singlehandedly? UH, that
Singlehandedly? UH, that is a bit extreme.
First off, if your opposed to outsourcing, then your opposed to free-markets. And if that was the case, then your opposed to Ron Paul. Im tired of people blaming Walmart for the economic woes of America. Its unfounded, biased, wrong and uneducated.
What's wrong with that?
That makes products here cheaper for us. It improves our standard of living. If anyone can do a job cheaper, anywhere in the world, then that's exactly who should be doing it. This is natural for capitalism to try to keep increasing efficiency. Dr. Paul is for open borders for trade, so your positions is defintely not can be consistent with Dr. Paul's. Dr. Paul would never support such a thing as you're advocating.
If you're a protectionist or isolationist, you've got the wrong candidate.

A video about Wal-Mart
WAL-MART SUCKS! Just my opinion, of course.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3836296181471292925...
If goods don't cross borders, soldiers will.
Or to update the words of Frederic Bastiat, no one shoots their customers. One understandably may not like the working conditions in China and other countries having cheap labor, but refusing to trade with them is no remedy.
So long as trade exists, so does leverage, eliminate that trade and any leverage goes with it. For proof, one need look no farther than the relationship for the last 50 years between the US and Cuba. Thus, while Wal-mart is certainly acting towards no higher virtue than their own selfish interests, the result is it is more a part of the solution than the problem.
As to its practices domestically and the impact on the mom and pop store, well no one is holding a gun to the heads of those shopping there or those choosing to work there. To laissez faire libertarians, is any more justification necessary?

Eric

If the question is how do we
If the question is how do we change the Chinese governments policies, then what makes you think that they are ever going to stop being fascist as long as we keep making it so profitable for them?
Maybe if we refused to sponsor fascism on moral grounds, then the Chinese government might want to liberate its society in order to get some of our dollars.
I'm not talking about embargo's here, I'm talking about free market capitalism based on moral decisions.
And domestically speaking, no one is holding a gun to anyone's head to make them shop at Wal-Mart, but I am not proposing that we hold a gun to anyone's head to dissuade them from it either.
I'm just trying to create a marketplace that offers some more choices for consumers, namely the power to know what kind of political future for America that your purchases might be supporting.
The same types of questions
The same types of questions were asked 150 years ago, immediately prior to the erroneously named US civil war (war of succession or war of northern aggression are more accurate terms). Why would the south ever give up slavery if we (meaning northerners) keep making it so profitable. Yea, we did end up fighting a war over it, the bloodiest war in American history. But did we need to? A point eloquently addressed in Thomas Di Lorenzo's book on Lincoln.
As he points out, every industrializing nation in the world ended slavery within a very short period of time (50 years plus or minus), yet only in the US did we fight a major war. In most cases it ended entirely peaceably, because in the end, slavery is not profitable except in the most technologically primitive societies.
While conditions in China aren't exactly slavery, it is certainly a case of significant economic repression. However the same principles are in play. People working for individual gain are inevitably more productive that those forced to work at the point of a gun or the tip of a whip. If China wishes to keep up with the west, to maintain its level of economic growth, then it has no choice but to increase freedoms, which since they then have more choices, results in competition for labor and in turn better working conditions.
We are no better now in predicting what form that will take than we were in 1860, but the fact that it will happen is inevitable. So the best thing we can do is to increase trade with China, and allow the inevitable to happen.
Hopefully we have learned something from our past mistakes, rather than to end up repeating them.
Regards,
Eric

Like I said, if the question
Like I said, if the question is: "how do we discourage China from being so fascist?", then the answer would most definitely be: "let's stop paying them to be"
By the same token though, if the question were: "how do we piss off China and perhaps start a war with them?", then the answer would most definitely be: "let's impose official tariffs, or create a government embargo against them".
I propose that if people really want to discourage China from being so fascist, then what we should be doing is boycotting them privately in the market place.
Then, China will be left with no other option but to liberate its society in order to attract our $$$.
But, "how do we reverse China's fascism?" is not really even the question that I am asking.
I think that we should be focusing on reversing the fascism in America.
So by the same token, my suggestion is that we use the private free-market to take away the business of the companies that take advantage of fascism here, and support businesses that are going to fund the political campaigns that are necessary to get to the political roots of the problem (NAFTA, IRS, the Fed), while at the same time supporting made in the USA products to bring back our manufacturing.
If it becomes really popular, then maybe Walmart will have to even jump on board some day, before we even get all of the pertinent laws changed!
walmart
If anything gets out of hand in the country,(ie,food shortages etc...) find the closest walmart distribution center.everything one would need is there, from food to ammo. Not much security.

I'd love to crikett
But there is a bug with the site that would make the listing not alphabetical.
I did write you an email about that, don't worry, hopefully I'll have that fixed for you and everyone else real soon.
From an economic stand
From an economic stand point, and every economist in their right mind will tell you this, Walmart is a good thing in the US. People who argue that Walmart is evil, because they drive out the mom and pop shops and pay low wages are absolutely rediculous. However, Walmart is evil. But only because of how they get low prices. They get low prices through slave labor in China and in Indonesia. Thats the only reason Walmart is evil.
