When is the Chuck Baldwin grassroots activity going to start up?
Submitted by TylerLiberty on Fri, 08/22/2008 - 00:41I know everyone is getting excited about the Rally for the Republic, but shouldn't we start focusing on a presidential candidate? I'd hate to see this movement split into two parties. We'd be more effective in the media supporting one candidate.
Ron Paul cannot endorse a candidate other than a Republican in order to keep his standings in committees within the House of Representatives. He will not come out and say one candidate is the best, but he is hinting Chuck Baldwin might be the best.
How much longer until the rEVOLution will be in full swing towards Chuck Baldwin?
»

maybe we should wear tshirts to the rally that say
If I can't vote Ron Paul
I am voting for Chuck Baldwin

Howard Phillips, founder of the Constitution Party, will be
speaking at the Rally for the Republic, and Chuck Baldwin is slated to have a booth there. Maybe that will help.

RP2012!
Better get working Chuck has only raised about $70,000.00
and will be on 30 state ballots or less.
Honestly Chuck Baldwin has not even had a MSM appearance to my knowledge and he will be totally shut out in the future also. Reason is that he is a total unknown with no experience or name recognition.
But hey, he is better than McCain - so vote.
Barr for me
Sadly, there was very little
Sadly, there was very little activity in the national headquarters for Chuck Baldwin in Grand Rapids when I went in there the other day. I am wondering if people are waiting until after the convention. This is understandable, but we need to be prepared to throw our weight behind him once the Republican nomination is finalized.
Bump For The Delegates To See...

Chuck's Problem
Chuck Baldwin is a good man, as men go. You might even say a great man. His Achilles heels are two:
1. He has never held public office.
2. He is running in a party withough sufficient access to the polls.
It is hard to get anywhere with two cut hamstrings.
1. He should run for Congress or for some state position in his home state, and then move up.
2. He should do this within the Republican Party. He should be a man and take up the challenge to join the Campaign for Liberty.
Chuck Baldin really is such a fine man, and a champion of liberty, that I hate to see him spinning his wheels running in a minor party.
As a congressman he would have been such a great ally for Ron Paul. He would have had a prominent soapbox to be heard as well. As a congressman he would have been poised to add to the chorus of voices calling for a return to the principles of the more libertarian Republicans. I think back to the '60s when Ronald Reagan seconded the nomination of Barry Goldwater. What a speech that was! It was before the neocons had attached themselves to his own presidential campaign, and Reagan was his true self. If we could return to that vision and chart a course for the top of the Nolan Chart from there, we'd be on the right track.
If you have any influence with Chuch Baldwin, and after this campaign runs its course, I hope you will strongly encourage him to run for Congress in 2 years in the Republican primary, and join the movement for liberty in our nation's capitol. He's still young enough to aspire to higher office after that.
It's interesting that you
It's interesting that you actually documented how Reagan and Goldwater failed to dent the Republican Party ideologically, with Reagan's moment of glory being an intro speech for a man who lost the election---and then you suggest someone else follow the same losing path.
People with conservative integrity and libertarian values have been trying to steer the GOP toward Liberty for over forty years. No one has succeeded yet.

Baldwin not on ballot in CA...but he still has a chance...
There is confusion on the CP ballot access site. Chuck Baldwin is no longer on the ballot in California, yet the website says he is. For clarification, unfortunately, Baldwin will not be on the ballot in California. BUT, there will be a ruling apparently on Aug. 26 (same day B. Barr is on Colbert Report) whether Baldwin will be on the ballot. see here http://www.chuckbaldwinforum.com/california-ballot-resolutio...

and he did not get back to me. I would like to tell people that I am voting for Chuck Baldwin.

On August 22nd, 2008 WRellim says:"...people got burned... then they got burned out (or vice versa). Add in the current economic situation and I think majority of the people are heading back underground and taking care of their own business and lives again...".
These people were never really part of the movement in the first place. Movements are never built around people with such weak spirits. I've been part of the Freedom Movement since 1980 - a real roller coaster ride. But you stick with it.
What too many fail to realize is that the movement is more important than personalities or any single vote. As weak a libertarian as Barr is, he will still get my vote.
It's Not Going To Because The Delegates Are Going To Revolt
At the GOP Convention and can McCain The fate of our nation is in THEIR hands at this moment and they just have to make a stand and vote their
conscience....
If Ron would have given direction concerning the delegate process in the beginning we would have had this election wrapped up already.Still possible but the disinfo tools are hiding this at DP. My opinion is that the delegates that have been bound to vote for McCain 1st round that are now enlightened by Paulites or just the plain old truth have to vote their conscience and vote Paul first round to stop McCain from getting the required number first round. Damned people are still telling people to vote first round McCain if they are bound. This is really important and we are just about out of time and I think since there are only 11 days left. I encourage all the delegates to revolt and also try for a vote of no confidence motion in McCain from the floor before ANY voting even starts. This could make the difference in McCain not getting the required amount and winning the nomination.
Stop this neo-con shill first round.
DELEGATES either vote for Ron Paul first round or go to the restroom on the first round if you don't have the courage to stand up to the nonsensical GOP baloney "rules".
This will be your finest hour and just as the Supreme Court has ruled that you have the right and obligation to judge the facts of the case and also the judge the law being applied in a trial that applies here also. VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE and bring this country back to "We The People"
Revolt For Freedom !!!

IMO, we need to get rdy for these elections.
By 2010 we could have a majority of Paulers in congress with a Pauler president in good shape for 2012.
We should also have a major news outlet by then.

True but
also remember - due to what happens this year ...
we may not get to vote in 2012 ...
or at least it may very well be screwed a whole other way - by then.
(but yes - planning ahead of course)
onward!
Bump
because Cafe Press has great Vote Third Party bumper stickers we
should all get .... of course specific Vote Chuck Baldwin ones too!
yard signs etc...
I Think Right Now!
Chuck Baldwin 2008.
Of course with the Rally coming - we celebrate the climax to RP
campaign and all the work everyone put into it along with the hopes
that he still could sneak in some way.... but I am sure RP would expect
and desire for us to start working toward continuing the Freedom Message
that he started - now in this phase with Chuck Baldwin.
The Baldwin Campaign or Constitution Party etc will have a booth at
the Rally for the Republic - be sure to get literature go to the booth and
ask questions of Chuck and others ... stop guessing and supposing about
the guy....
for everyone calling him a theocrat - watch this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkZB8SlPnTE Freedom of Religion or No Religion
He is far from theocracy .... also go to Revolution Broadcasting and see if in their archives they have him from August 17 ... listen to that.
Then for everyone confused about what states Baldwin is on the ballot

Chuck Baldwin is the only logical extension of the Ron Paul Campaign!

It's not about whether
It's not about whether Baldwin is a theocrat, it's about the party he supports.
See here: http://constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php
I honestly cannot understand how any libertarian could support that. The name of that party is an insult to constitutionalists.
As to ballot access, currently the only candidates who could possibly win are:
McCain
Obama
Barr
Nader
McKinney
See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_candidates_in_the_Unite...
Baldwin is very, very close now, and will probably make the cut, but even when he does you can't expect the entire movement to rally around him because they won't all be able to vote for him. Barr is a much better focal point for the movement, from the ballot access perspective, but he is also controversial, obviously. So just let people vote for whoever they want. It's all symbolic anyway.

Liberty for Dummies
Totally Disagree
but thats cool -
I really don't get this "because of the party you belong to"
I mean our leader Ron Paul belongs to the Republican Party and that
is an obsene party (I now he wants to change it) until then - he is linked
up with a very ugly party - I always say - vote the Individual with the
message ... it is always about the message / issues. All parties are
going to have faults ... I guess I am just not able to be party alliant...
I will never again vote for someone - just because of their party affiliation...
If they don't have principle and the right message ... what good is it?
Chuck Baldwin 2008 .... listen to his videos and audios -
if you would listen to his videos you may find out how controversial he
is not...
Pretty sure he will be in Minneapolis at the Rally with a booth ....
go check them out ... get some literature ask questions...
Everyone Watch This Video
the whole thing....
this guy is totally for religious freedom and freedom of no religion....

He seems like a great guy, I
He seems like a great guy, I just can't support his party unless they scrap the platform.
The Republican Party (both major parties actually) are intentionally vague. They've made a science of saying less and less of substance, with more and more words, as time goes on.
The Constitution Party comes right out and proudly proclaims principles that are anathema to me.
Imagine if Ron Paul ran on the Satan Worshipper's Party. It's still the same Dr. Paul we all know and love, but how many Christians would vote for him?
----------
Liberty for Dummies
I think that's probably why
there are a variety of parties.
I'm sure that the CP doesn't expect you to vote for them if their platform is anathema to you.
I'm pretty sure they know that there will be whole groups of people that don't vote for them. Other individuals and groups will vote for them.
Same is true for all parties.
No party is all things to all people.
Indeed, and Chuck Baldwin
Indeed, and Chuck Baldwin knew when he ran on the CP ticket that there would be whole groups of people like me who wouldn't be able to vote for him even though they otherwise might have.
I don't understand why his supporters are trying to convince people like me to abandon our principles. They should accept what he has accepted.
I'm less than thrilled with Bob Barr, but at least the LP is not an impediment to him. They can nominate candidates that I can evaluate as people; the CP can't, because they immediately eliminate their own candidates from my consideration.

Baldwin is not included in so many state ballots including California and New York...how can you expect the Revolution to stand behind a candidate where more than 20% of the country literally can't vote for him?
