How much do you think we've really raised.

Someone mentioned earlier that the rate of donations is too consistent and is likely the rate at which donations are processed.
If this hypothetical (And probable) backlog is real, how much will we actually have when everything is said and done? Ideas on how to calculate this?

Looks like a new trend
It looks like we might be setting a new trend as they work through unprocessed donations. My guess (and it is just a guess) is that there is a maximum threshold for processing backlogged transactions to allow new incoming transactions to be processed at the same time. We really won't be able to say until we have a couple hours worth of data to plot the progress.
Therefore.... I am going to bed. :-) It has been an exciting day, but I need some sleep. See you all tomorrow (or in a couple hours when my son gets me up again....)
Sounds like a good idea.
yawn
It's dipping.

Either Ron Paul supporters defy all odds (possible) or there's a reset around midnight in the processing that causes a temporary lag (also possible).
I have no idea, I'm hoping the donations continue but we'll have to see.
Edit: Or the donations stopped a while ago and it's finally dropping now.
Heading back up... Augh I'm
Heading back up... Augh I'm so excited and curious and probablyshouldgotobedbutwon'tcauseIloveNov.5thandLiberty:D.
Another possibility
Depending on the algorithm used to throttle the donations, it may have only used a small percentage of bandwidth to process backlogged transactions while trying to process recent donations in real time if possible. If real donations suddenly stopped following midnight, it might take a while to readjust to the new traffic flow.
Or... those of us who thought the traffic was being throttled are all wet. :-) Ah well, either way it was a great day for the Ron Paul campaign!
There is hope for America! Spread the word.
Right on.
We can see actually if it still keeps going up.
So stay tuned. Personally I HOPE IT IS... it will KEEP going up in the tomorrow section; the MSM will have to report it! :D
Amazing
Whether or not the donations have been throttled, today has been absolutely amazing. Over $4 million donated. We are over half way to Ron Paul's quarterly goal of $12 million. It is truly a great day to be a Ron Paul supporter.
What we did today:
This is what we did:
- donated $4M in 24 hours.
- surpassed Q2 91-day totals in less than one day
- surpassed Q3 91-day totals in 36 days
- doubled Q4 35-day totals in less than one day
- established a new benchmark for online single-day donations
- established a new benchmark for GOP single-day donations
- hit the November 30-day donation goal in less than one day, plus made up the amount short of the October 31-day donation goal at the same time
and the beat goes on! Now we're working December 31-day goal already, and still kicking a$$!
We should be proud.
Lot of work still to do, but pat ourselves on the back for a job well done!
has anyone asked the
has anyone asked the campaign if the donations are being throttled? I am really getting excited lol
That's a very good question.
That's a very good question.

I haven't
I don't want to bother them as I do not really have an "official" contact with the campaign. Is there anyone on Daily Paul who could act as our spokesman who has spoken with them before about such things who could find out?
How do you explain the straight line?
Despite numerous mini-bombs announced on this site and on the Ron Paul Radio program, there is little to no change in the progress of the fund raising chart on RonPaulGraphs. It is quite likely that they are throttling the traffic to ensure that all donations are processed correctly (none are lost). This would result in a straight line as each transaction would take almost the same amount of time.
If this is true, the actual total could be much higher than what we see now, and we would not know the final tally until the line finally stops rising.
note on timing
Interestingly enough, I contributed at 8:00 this morning, and still haven't gotten my confirmation e-mail (11:15pm)
One of my employees contributed @ 5:30 PM at the office, and his confirmation came through almost immediately.
timing
Both confirmations 8am EST and 11:50 pm EST came back near full speed. Check your spam.
Check your junk mail
That's where I found mine
My e-mail
I sent in my donation at 2:00 am (I was up with my 6 month old son), and I did not get the confirmation until around 2:00 pm.

the most recent email from the campaign challenges us to get to 5.7 million for today. not sure that will happen. anything is possible.

We're going to hit - or come
We're going to hit - or come awfully close - to $4m by mid-night Eastern. But then we have Central, Mountain, Pacific and Hawaii time. This may not be "official", but will still be considered as a continuation. This will put us real close to $5.7m.
we better ramp it up then... :)
300k more and we beat even Hillary's fraudulent record!
Let's get 'er done!

The amount listed...
I think it is possible/likely that the donations are being throttled, however, to cause a backlog would have required for more than humanly could have been generated.
Throttling causes a smoothing instead of eratic pattern, but I sincerely doubt there is a backlog of donations waiting to be processed (especially since I just a confirm letter for my donation not long ago).

Not really
I think you misunderstand throttling on a very high traffic website. Credit card processing can take up a minute a times (depending on the conditions with the credit card company), but even at good times it can 10-15 seconds. Consider the time it takes when you go to any other site and order on-line.
With that kind of time lag it does not take that many people to start causing a backlog. By the latest report, we had at least 31,000 people pounding the site today which would average about 21 people per minute. This means that the credit card processing would have to take less than 3 seconds for each transaction to avoid overwhelming the server. Instead of sending all of the transactions, they could just add the transactions into their database (a simple insert without extra processing) and then loop through the table one record at a time sending them in as quickly as possible.
There would be no reason for them to throttle the donations to slow them down. Every other money bomb resulted in near real time results. This is the first time we have seen a long term straight line in the graphs indicated they needed to slow down the transactions not to smooth but to keep from overwhelming the credit card servers.
lol...
no offense, but I don't misunderstand, I do this for a living... :)
Throttling would be caused by a message queue... and I can assure you that it is highly unlikely that a message (subscriber/provider system) could be overwhelmed by us...
It causes things to smooth out because of consistent processing but by no means means that there is a backlog...
