This 'might' seem a little cheesey, BUT I remembered the part in the Little Mermaid where the seagull is flying around and comes upon the 'witch' Ursula that is about to marry the prince while in disguise.
People are falling for it- but the seagull sees the 'reality' of the situation and then goes and tries to warn people.
Part of 'my' disillusionment with all of this is 'Christians' used to often be the 'watch dog' of the government 'growing too large,' and turning socialist, communist, fascist, etc.
My family used to talk about this ALL the time about a decade ago... THEN the Republican party gets in control, and since 'most' Christians are Republicans, and it is the Republicans who begin to 'expand government,' take away rights, spy on its citizens, SUDDENLY we don't hear so many of them protesting and complaining. (SUCH AS THE CASE IN MY FAMILY.)
Many 'Christians' even GO AS FAR as to defend the actions of the 'Neo-Conservative' party...
I feel like the party which 'used' to be KNOWN for safe guarding against HUGE government, and the taking away of rights is REPLACED with another group, but is the VERY THING THE CHRISTIANS 'USED' TO BE WATCHFUL OF. Only 'disguised' as the Republican/Conservative party.
'IF' I were evil and wanted to take over and TRICK people that is how I'd go about it. I'd change the 'party/group' KNOWN for watching against government expansion, also known as the group 'Christians' trust most, and while they were on 'MY SIDE' that is when I'd trick them. I'd do it in disguise so they wouldn't ever suspect. I'd make them think I was ON THEIR SIDE!
Today I feel like I've 'AWAKEN' to the situation, and seen that the party MOST Christians STILL trust is ACTUALLY on the same side of the Democrats, and the Democrats are on the same side as the Republicans. Both VERY evil and corrupt.

It does seem like "christians" are the last ones still trying to defend the administration, especially Bush. And even through the outright murder of so many innoccent people.
