Greetings,
I just found out I will be attending the CFL rally as a delegate for Alabama. I will also be there representing the dailypaul patriots.
We'll be approving the CFL's constitution and request your input/thoughts.
Thanks!

I, too, was selected
and really I'm not sure what it is all about. The whole thing seems to be secretive. None of my questions have been answered, phone calls go unreturned, and there is no agenda, so to speak. The message I received basically said that we were to represent the C4L for two years and then an election will occur. We will create its bylaws and ratify its constitution.
The problem is, to me, that I feel they will ask us to rubber stamp a document with little time to review it. Also, there are "rumours" that the grassroots will be cut out of the equation.
There were several people who worked tirelessly during the campaign who feel betrayed that they weren't invited.

SIMILAR to the founding of USA, deligates are sent to represent a segment of populus in order to make a concensus. THIS is to form a CONSTITUTION, to rule over procedings . I assume this is what is requested of the deligates in SEPT. THIS is CERTAINLY important for ALL deligates to be present. THIS is the foundation of the campagn .
I only presume this is the agenda for SEPT. meeting. SOMEone up in
the org. must make the call.

SIR; I would presume a CONSTITUTION to mean , RULES TO GO BY .
WHEN a group comes together they need to have order & a constructive
way of handling business. THESE rules would dictate the over all running of a meeting for the CFL.. THE platform should come later ,after the CONSTITUTION is adopted.

First thoughts. Man the
First thoughts. Man the phones for 10 hours a day, minimum and hire enough competent people to take calls and answer e-mails. Do not say it is a "grassroots" effort if we get ignored. People who call and write are active supporters OR detractors. They need to be heard.
Again, much personal communication. If someone asks for assistance in running for office there should be a concrete screening process and applications addressed within 4 day turnaround. Volunteers can assist online with that, as can "virtual" managers who can answer emails and coordinate these efforts from their computer. Unpaid volunteers should not be expected to do over 20 hours or so per week without pay.
ANY pay for C4L employees should be reasonable and posted. It is our organization (supposedly) and there should be no secrets.
More later depending in what vein these suggestions are received...
(The GOP state party told me to work on suggestions to the platform, and then IGNORED completely, all the work I did).
The "delegates" are the
The "delegates" are the people invited to the Leadership summit on Monday, Sept. 1. These people, mostly ran for RP delegate or made a significant effort leading up to the primaries. There were many people to pick from since the grassroots were so active and basically made things happen. State coordinators made the picks.
I will advise you as I have been advised. When creating the platform, it should not be a "top down" decision process, but the grass roots delegates should create the platform and hold their ground. There should not be any fear that the C4L is not defined by the grassroots. To me, the platform should simply be everything we've been arguing for this election season: making political candidates adhere to their oath to defend and follow the constitution. We will decide to support candidates with that litmus test. We will make plans to continue to spread the freedom message.
Sorry. The facts deny your
Sorry. The facts deny your statement that it not be a "top down" decision. I was a delegate to my state convention with NO help nor contact with my state coordinator. I emailed him 4 times and he never responded. I wanted to be present at this 9/1 conference, and wrote C4L and Deb on 2 occasions with NO response from either, and I called, left a message and no response. This is an example of "top down" decision process, not to mention rudeness and disinterest.
Thanks for answering my question tho. I congratulate you on your being picked for input. I also will advise you to take the input from any Arkansan there, with a grain of salt. The coordinator cared nothing for my part of AR, and I question whomever delegate he picked.
Keep on keeping on.
I honestly do not know how
I honestly do not know how the selection process went, and it sounds like you should have been picked. In my state, it was by congressional district. Our delegates were directly elected with no state convention.
I don't know about your state coordinator, but the RP campaign cut ours loose weeks before the primary. He essentially lost his job because "the campaign was winding down." To his credit, he stayed on without pay and tried to do his best until the primary. We delivered over 15%. Yes, it was a top down selection (sort of) to get the delegates. But hopefully, we can take it from here.
If it is any consolation, the "chosen" delegates will conduct elections for C4L leaders after everything is established. So we will soon step aside and let elected people, chosen by the grassroots per area, take over and run the show.
CFL Constitution???
You'll be approving a "constitution"...excuse me?
Schnecksville, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania
There's little info right now...
Constitution was the word used when I was informed I'd be a delegate...maybe they meant by-laws? Platform? Regardless, the bottom line is that we will be discussing issues and strategies from the grassroots.
What is a CFL delegate?

Campaign For Liberty
Each state is sending delegates to the leadership summit that is being held on Monday.
How is a CFL delegate elected?
I've heard of RP delegates that are sent to the RNC, but CFL?
This was news to me too.
Don't have an answer for you. I was selected (nominated) at the last minute because the original delegate was not able to go. Here in Alabama each congressional district has one delegate and there are 2 more at-large delegates. I'm one of the at-large delegates.
I asked why I was being selected and was told that I was a known RP supported that had put in a lot of work for the campaign and when they found out by word of mouth that I was going to Minneapolis, they decided to offer me an at-large spot.
You probably need to contact your RP state coordinator for a better answer.

Oh, I didn't know they did that...
I thought you meant the other. ;)
CFL :) Lucky you, I'm sure you'll have some great input, given the chance.
We're all 'DAVE' http://digg.com/political_opinion/DAVE_calls_for_Ron_Paul_re...
The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!
RP is supposed to be there....
so that in itself is enough for me.....but wife says the real reason I'm going is Aimee Allen...... :)
EVERY time they ask for money
they need to have three things people can do that cost very little or nothing. If the organization turns into another way to keep circulating Fed notes endlessly, it is shooting itself in the HEART, not the foot.
I will GIVE them the three ideas, I'll give them a list of 100 ideas to get started.
And for the love of Pete, stop officially distancing themselves from whole segments of supporters. That is going from rude to stupid, as they say.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
This is important
Put your thinking hats on and give a hand.
(Sorry I am not in position to pass on suggestions)
