ScienceDaily (Oct. 14, 2005) — Most drugs of abuse decrease the generation of new neurons in the brain, but the effects of marijuana on this process, called neurogenesis, had not been clear.
In a paper appearing online on October 13 in advance of print publication of the November issue of the Journal of Clinical Investigation, Xia Zhang and colleagues from University of Saskatchewan show that a potent and synthetic cannabinoid promotes neurogenesis. This drug also exerts anti-anxiety and antidepressant-like effects.
The researchers suggest that there is a positive correlation between increased adult neurogenesis and modified behavior following chronic cannabinoid treatment. These data expand the existing knowledge about the positive roles cannabinoids and their receptors play in brain processing and medicine. Moreover, cannabinoids are perhaps the only illicit drug that can enhance adult neurogenesis and subsequently modify behavior.

better already. This is one awesome site. I just had a cancer in my tongue and jaw and my only question to the people that wanted me to do kemo on top of radiation was Did marijuana cause this? And the doctor said I hate to tell you this but I really doubt it. I said Thank You. Operaton itself was done at Sloan Ketering by a really great Surgeon Dr. Jadin Shah. I went to him because I needed a second opinion after seeing a Dr. that had treated me for a milder form of tongue cancer 17 years earlier. Let me just say the first guy would have been a disaster. My father was given drugs that caused him to hallucinate in the hospital, so he hallucinated legally, even though those same drugs compromised his health.
Now what is it about marijuana that makes it unsuitable for a hospital environment? If it's okay to give drugs that cause hallucinations in a hospital, then it should be quite fine to give drugs that make people just regular old "high," especially if these drugs actually benefit the system.
So their moralistic hogwash about keeping marijuana illegal doesn't cut it with me.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with what's being said here. Smoking pot from my experience is just stupid.
I personally can't stand the way it makes me feel.
Immoral? It's your body you can destroy it however you want. Should it be illegal? Hell no.
I've been around a ton of people that smoke pot on a daily bases. I'm smarter than they are, I'm stronger than they are, and I'm healthier.
When I'm around the ones that smoke when they are smoking, I feel like I'm around a bunch of babies and toddlers. No intelligent conversation is going on.
On the subject of ADD, it seems to make these people worse than normal.
Could it help someone in MODERATION? Probably but how many potheads smoke in moderation?

The facts are that countries with legal cannabis have much lower recreational use stats...BC uses less pot % wise than Texas...
You may be able to think fine without Cannbis, that is specifically created for your brain to turn on your CB1 and CB2 receptors. stimulating your immune system and longevity.
But, you will suffer dimentia earlier and are more prone to cancer, diabetes, and neurological damage..That is your Choice...

I know it is painful to realize that your loved ones who suffered horribly and died might still be here today or at least died peacefully if cannabis were legal and you had a part in making it illegal. But it is the truth ~ non the less..
