And you think this is not a police state? DNC

Look at the treatment this ABC News reporter gets for simply telling a cop to "hold on."
DENVER -- Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk...
Oh wait, I wonder if this has anything to do with it?
Eslocker and his ABC News colleagues are spending the week investigating the role of corporate lobbyists and wealthy donors at the convention...

Let us reject the police state
We Are Change ought to confront Sarah Palin about this overarching surrogate military dictatorship and let the stupid disinfo trolls dissemble that.
I agree with Ron Paul, "Let us reject the police state."

There was just a story on this on Fox News.
Apparently, the news crew had set up in front of a hotel, and that hotel called the police because they didn't want them disturbing the guests. The hotel is also claiming that the sidewalk in front of the building, at least part of it closer to the building, is private property.
Sorry to disappoint anyone who thought it was something more sinister.
Though it could be that the hotel owner was in on the conspiracy. LOL.

Neocon Alert
I've read too much of this neocon's intellectual slumber, I know this may seem contradictory to my action here, but ignore him, what we really need to do is just that, do.
We need to organize, we need to plan, we need to decide what are we going to do about it, not give into this guy's full time job of disrupting us and making us run around in symantic circles.
We are the awake, we need to educate people that are ready to be woken, what ever this guy's cause is, his effect is disruptive and preventing us from participating in anything constructive.

Indeed, we all have our trolls
and this one is the worst of the bunch. Pro-Fed is the hemorrhoid of the Daily Paul --- annoying, irritating, occassionally painful and always covered in shit.
Anyone have some Preparation T, to shrink this troll and make it disappear?
See akak, other people noticed too.
It wasn't a paranoid episode after all.

fox news is damage control
of course, fox news is damage control.i never expected dailypaul people to cite it as a credible source for explanations.
it doesnt matter whether there was a request for the police, what is significant here is the treatment. forcing compliance while the reporter was on the phone, and bullying him to get out and into traffic? justified? count on fox to find a spin on it and let you americans fight each other again/or police each other again--as long as the result is damage control.
sidewalks in front are public property.
then of course, the hotel personnel are those "scared" of "trouble" and are encouraged to "report" such dissident[reporting news?] activity.if the owner is scared[again, of reporting news?],then your government propaganda is really working.
remember hitler had a way of packaging his police state that ordinary german citizens "reported" the subhuman jews, homosexuals, cripples, etc gladly.
Not sure that will hold up.
What the hotel would be attempting to claim based on what you've explained is called Curtilage. The legal definition of curtilage is 'the enclosed land directly adjacent to a private building.' For you and me, it would be like the back yard which is fenced in. Under this definition, owners can assume reasonable privacy if it is enclosed with intent of privacy. However I don't think this would apply to this situation given the circumstances.
I could be wrong however, and I would need to look more into this.
If the hotel does indeed own the facade and surrounding area, then you are correct.
As far as the issue itself, luckily no one was hurt, but I still believe the officer's conduct was unprofessional.
Absolutely the Hotel owner was in on it.
The Hotel owner had the most powerful people in the world staying at his establishment, He/She would do anything in their power to keep their guests happy. Common Sense.
Wake up.

take my word for it
it took us 20years to wake up from martial law.psychologically,we embraced it at first because our defense minister was "ambushed",we were led to believe everything was getting out of hand. of course, the sophistication of the "soap opera" state apparatus in america is much higher.[im from the philippines, whose dictator was backed by washington-i remember reagan coming here and said in his speech to marcos our dictator "we love your adherence to democratic principles..." 1980s]
but this kind of action by the police, and the upcoming "civilian national police" of obama are the first outright signs.
i hope american citizens will not have to go through what we had gone through. but in the end, after the silencing of dissent, the massacres and the spiralling into 3rd world status by the imf/wb, ordinary citizens openly fought armed soldiers. rosaries, icons of the catholic faith[incidental to the situation only] like statues of the virgin mary, were held onto, flowers were offered, as with food to the soldiers sent to destroy the few military officers who have had enough of the killing. ordinary people against tanks, marine landing craft, sikorsky attack helicopters in the 80s.
you guys are just starting. hear the warnings of those people who were subdued by these machiavellian group of people[the global elite, whoever they are, the police are just pawns] for now, is americas turn. either you all succeed, or be prepared to undergo what washington has been exporting around the world since the 60s
for a preview of what road is open after martial law, pls research the philippine people power 1. feb1986. see how everyone finally got the courage to stand against the military state. how it all ended with little bloodshed.
may you all not have to take it
Thanks jc.

It isn't that often that the MSM shows things like this to the mass audience. They must really have had enough.
I wonder if Americans in general will respond or even realize what they have seen.

Since when does an out of control cop make a police state?
This as been going on for as long as police existed. What the cops did here is not justified from what I can tell, but that doesn't make a "police state.
I've been arrested before unjustifiably, and successfully challenged it in court. I just recognize it for what it is, a cop loosing his cool.

an "out of control" cop...
becomes a police state when he calls for "out of control" backup and they respond to take you to an "out of control" lockup jail where they file "out of control" charges against you to which you have to appear before an "out of control" judge in an "out of control" courtroom and pay heavy "out of control" fines and have a permanent "out of control" record against you for standing on a freaking public sidewalk reporting on "out of control" politicians....move along, you fool...if you are not with us you are against us and the "us" are patriotic americans...are you telling me you don't "see" this?

What makes us a police state
What makes us a police state is:
1. The Patriot Act
2. The Bush/Pelosi FISA laws
3. Unwarranted surveillance of the Internet
4. The gestapo presence at our airports
5. The Military Commissions Act
6. Official sanction of waterboarding
7. State-run gulag at Guantanamo Bay
8. Construction of FEMA camps
9. State use of Blackwater paramilitary forces
Everything is in place for Hitler/Stalin-style fascism, pogroms and ethnic cleansing. The Bill of Rights is nullified and the Supreme Court is doing absolutely nothing to stop the setup of a dictatorship. Both political parties are complicit.
All we are doing is waiting for the right lunatic to seize power--the Constitution has been turned on its head, and the laws and police state agencies are all set up and fully operational.

I agree with Ron Paul
where he says "Mr. Speaker, what, then, is the answer to the question: "Is America a Police State?" My answer is: "Maybe not yet, but it is fast approaching." The seeds have been sown and many of our basic protections against tyranny have been and are constantly being undermined. The post-9/11 atmosphere here in Congress has provided ample excuse to concentrate on safety at the expense of liberty, failing to recognize that we cannot have one without the other."
We don't have a "police state," but are moving in that direction. There's no reason to exaggerate. Stick with reality.

It isn't exaggeration. We already have a police state in operation--it's just a soft one that is maintaining good public relations at this time.
There would have to be substantial repeals of post-9-11 laws and dissolution of federal agencies before I would say that we aren't a police state.

Nicely said!!!
If the Patriot Act and freedom destroying Executive Orders were properly reported by the Media, it would be a well known fact that we no longer have a Republic (or "Democracy"). However media silence and good PR have kept our Republic intact (the illusion anyway)
Even many of those who know what is going on, don't really know what is going on. They must go back and read our founders documents and essays to see what we are really missing. Some will be next in line for the oven saying, "we almost have a dictator running a police state".

Not true.
There's nothing systematic about. They're in a situation where some people are trying to riot. They're being yelled at. The cops are confused. Some of them weren't trained well. Some of them their stupid. Some of them enjoy pushing people around. That doesn't make a "police state."

What went on before this clip?
I wish they would show the entire clip so that we could see this in the true context. They start the clip right when the police officer seems to be at his wits end. I'd like to judge this knowing all the facts.

See all and everything. Half of a story is only half of the truth. If the truth will set you free why hide the first half of it? This guy could have done a number of things before the camera was rolling. Flashing his penis at the cop. Showing the cop his butt-ox. Spitting on the cop. Telling the cop to fu99 off! Pissing on the sidewalk. Yelling at women passing by about how his balls smell.
I could go on and on. Thats what happens when we only see half of a story. I will not waste my anger on a half truth. Till all for now nothing.
