McCain Chooses Alaska Gov Palin as Mate
Submitted by Michael Nystrom on Fri, 08/29/2008 - 20:19
Two GOP strategists close to the McCain campaign said all indications pointed to Palin, a self-styled "hockey mom" and political reformer.

I ran across Palin a few months ago...
I liked her views for the most part... and she's hot.
I'd vote for her and RP in a sec. But not McCain. Shame though.
I like Sarah Palin and I'd
I like Sarah Palin and I'd love to see a woman in the VP seat, but I simply cannot bring myself to vote for McCain. Not after the way the GOP treated Ron Paul and his supporters during the election season. Picking Palin is not going to erase the fact that we have been marginalized and mocked for the past year.
And I'm not even going to touch the problems with McCain's platform.
McCain plans to cancel
McCain plans to cancel convention because of Hurricane concerns, sorry folk, this is getting too weird.

"The last thing we need is
"The last thing we need is another liberal neocon in the White House. If the Presidency of George W. Bush proved anything, it proved the hazard of electing phony Republican conservatives. At least one is able to clearly see a liberal for what he or she is when they have a "D" behind their name. But put an "R" behind the name and suddenly their liberal, Big-Government, anti-freedom agenda is barely recognized, which makes a liberal Republican much more dangerous than a liberal Democrat." --Chuck Baldwin
Nothing will destroy the possibility of liberty in the Republican party more than rewarding Republican party by telling them they were right and that they don't have to follow the Constitution or their own platform.
What was gained by the 'Republican' Bush winning? Would people do it all over again? If not, how could anyone possibly think we could gain something from McCain winning? I dislike Obama's policies just as much if not more than anyone else here, but sometimes it is really better to 'lose.' Think of where the Republican party might be today if instead the Democrats had created this mess over the last 8 years.
I think people need to start looking at things long term. A McCain victory would do this movement a lot more harm than good in the long run.
The party that laughed in Ron Paul's face at every opportunity, laughed at and mocked the idea of liberty, laughed at and mocked the idea of following the Constitution, used every cheat they could think up in the primaries -- what do you really think this party is going to do for you? The party that still openly mocks you and laughs in your face over what you want from them won't be doing you any favors if they win this election.
Although Sarah Palin may not seem so terrible in comparison to the current crop of Republicans, I haven't seen anything to indicate that she is enthusiastic to fight for individual liberty either. I think the idea of voting in McCain in the hopes that he will die and she will take over and turn things around is a bit of a far-fetched fantasy, especially when you consider that if the GOP wins they will see *no* reason for things to change.
I do like the way she looks,
I do like the way she looks, to be honest with you, but again, no one is electing the Vice President. McCain thinks the position of VP is a worthless one, and you could bet he'd minimize it's function if he were elected (in an alternate Bizarro universe).
The other MAJOR qualm about Palin... creationist. I have no desire to see the United States continue it's plunge back into the Dark Ages. Electing religious zealots of any stripe is unwise.

Good reasoning.
And I have said similar things. If we are still allowed to have elections in 4/8 years, an Obama presidency would be best for us because things are so bad now, they can't be fixed by much, and his policies will just make them worse. It will make us saviors when the time comes. You put McCain in, who DOES try to talk the conservative line and you will just put the final nail in not just the Republican Party but also a sour taste in anyone's mouth when they hear us speak as well about smaller government, etc etc.

ho ho
McCain finds yet another beautiful women to get him where he wants to go in life.
You guys are Pitiful?
Are you really Ron Paul supporters?
And you're thinking a woman, with 20 months of LOCAL EXPERIENCE in the least populated state in the country; who has had scandle after scandle is a good politician and person?
She spent 15 MILLION DOLLARS on a Ice Rink that NEVER GOT BUILT back when she was mayor. More importantly it should never have cost more than 2 million. NOT TO MENTION the turmoil caused in the town by that; taxes have increased their by about 20% because of it.
She's a big oil woman; shes in the pocket of big business; her husband works FOR BP. She REGULARLY forwards emails from her governor account to her HUSBAND?
How is any of this not a abuse of power?
She wrote a budget that was 2 BILLION DOLLARS bigger then the last one; and the biggest one in state history.
In the last month she:
1. Drove the local State Dairy Farm; which had just received 600 million dollars in State Funds into the ground; using all that money within 2 months; and making no money back.
2. Got into a scandle involving firing a cop who refused to fire a subordinate who her family member had a dirty divorce with and out of purely personal reasons. Such a grosse misuse of powers that the state saw it fit to investigate it; and this is a heavy republican state here.
3. Supported the bridge to nowhere; then once it got out and everyone knew against flip-flopped and didn't support it.
4. FLEW on a PLANE when she was in labour, 20 hours; from Texas to Alaska. Rumours have popped up that her pregnancy; which she announced when she was 7 MONTHS pregnant; was a coverup for her own daughters pregnancy.
5. Continues to support teach creationism in schools and abstinence only education at both the local and federal levels.
This women is not fit to be president. This women is not fit to be a Paul supporter. Anyone who goes over to Palin because of this is absolutely pitiful. And thats all I have to say.
Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.

Correction
You post is pitiful, but at least get your facts right:
1. The state-owned dairy did not spend 600 MILLION DOLLARS in two months. It was a $600,000 grant. BIG DIFFERENCE. And if you know anything, you know the dairy was already failing; Palin did not drive it into the ground.
2. The cop tasered his own young child; drove drunk in his patrol car, abused his powers by hunting illegally and covering it up, and he threatened to kill members of the governor's family. And you think that is the kind of cop we need patroling Alaska?
3. Which bridge to nowhere? Sarah never supported the Ketchikan bridge, which was "the bridge to nowhere."
4. Oooooh, unsubstantiated rumors! Do you have a birth certificate to prove that the governor did not give birth like she said she did? Where do you get this stuff?
5. Education is a local and state affair. States and localities can teach any damn thing they want. Get over it.
RP2012!
Bravo!!!
All these people flinging rumors around about something they know nothing about. Good response.

What an obvious political
What an obvious political move. She's from an oil state, and highly motivated to drill. Her husband works for BP on the North Shore. She's a 'trophy veep' on the arm of a rich old crone.
After doing some research on local forums about her, seems she's not so liked by Alaskans afterall. Do some digging yourself. Wont take much.
Biden could eat her alive if one on one.
I agree..oil may have been a
I agree..oil may have been a factor in choosing Palin. Though there are lots of huge reserves elsewhere in North America, Alaska's ANWR has always been a big issue with the corporate GOP crowd.
Similarly I agree on Biden--people were saying he was a bad pick, initially, as they said Palin was a good one; I think Biden, the old Senator, could chew up a young beauty queen Governor in a debate.
SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States
SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA

Biden needs to be careful.
Biden needs to be careful. If he comes off as too aggressive in the debate, the GOP will (successfully) spin it as "as a merciless attack on a poor mother of five children".
Marijuana Hypocricy
I understand Gov. Palin admits to having tried marijuana in her younger days but didn't like it, and favors keeping it illegal so it "won't send the wrong message to young people".
Yeah, that's pretty typical of the right wing crowd.
In any case, it would be a cold day in hell before I'd vote for Mister "We'll Miss You, Ron" [prior to the Fox News debate that Ron Paul was excluded from].
Or Mr. Socialism on the Democratic side.
Voting Barr (Libertarian) or Baldwin (Constitution).
But marijuana is part of
But marijuana is part of creation, and she's a creationist. Strange that.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah...
My Goodness girl! She is a bottom feeder. First she sells out Alaskans on their own natural resources, then goes back on her word to serve out her obligation to Alaska, as she stated when ask about being picked for VP in the past. I've lost all respect for the woman. She clearly has jumped on the politicotrain so she can be part of the lucrative business of looting Americans.
Obama is sure to become pres now. Later I will be busy finding a place to bury my guns. And by the way I might as well say what is on my mind now because the "mind police" will have a job waiting for them. I am pissed that people don't use common sense....on second thought maybe I use common sense and keep my mouth shut.
Peace and God bless

You sound like one Alaskan
You sound like one Alaskan who is not as pleased as others are about their governor. I take your opinion seriously.
A Palin/Paul ticket would be the shizzie.
No matter who bashes her, as a feminine leader she has achieved everything the feminist movement has fought for. She doesn't fit the oprah mold, nor the whiney pant suit mold. I would rather see a Palin/Paul ticket though.
LOL
I would not, she recriminalized Marijuana. Nothing even closely related to Ron Paul's views. If she is the ideal of the feminist movement then the movement has failed since this proves that a women should not lead. (Not being sexist I'm trying to say shes bad not the feminist movement.)
I agree...
I am a woman and i agree with you. I believe that women should do what they want but I don't believe in feminism movement. It has destroyed the relationships between man and woman and has destroyed the family. I wish I was able to be a stay at home mom. Women are the glue to the family and what women feel is good for the family, the family usually follows. So my point is I feel they will target the women, and the family will follow. With Palin joining McCain I think they will fearmonger (women want to protect their babies) and a woman wouldn't lie to another women, right?? They'll play the terrorist, terrorist, terrorist card.
First and foremost PALIN chose to accept the VP position, so she chose to accept ALL that is McCain. Bought and paid for criminals.
Worng - She did not recriminalize Marijuana.
Recriminalization happen well before her time. Please check your facts. She has a pretty mixed record on economic policy, and free markets. She is a social conservative, but it hasn't been a defining feature of her administration. She has had some success as a corruption fighter which is good, She is better than Biden.
Women shouldn't lead because she recriminalized pot?
Excuse me Justin but 99.99% of the crap laws in the US were drafted and ratified by men.
It's not the sex. It's the brain.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!
I don't think I can Digg this, it seems like a last minute ploy!
In fact, I won't digg it.
This is an obvious attempt to put life into McCain's run and get both Clinton and Paul supporters.
But, as Ron Paul said, he would not even accept a nomination for Vice President under McCain, because McCain's views are so different.
That says it all.
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Palin
I just watched Palin's speech at McCain's VP introduction rally. She had me a bit until she started talking about Iraq . . . then completely lost me regarding Russian aggression. I think she is sincere, but sincerely wrong. Someone needs to slip her a copy of Dr. Paul's book, or maybe her son's stories (to be deployed in September) might turn her a different shade than green. Might her color change when she discovers the underbelly of the beast?
Her son
will not be exposed to the truth.
