Massive Police Raids in Minnesota

Glenn Greenwald via Lew Rockwell
Protesters here in Minneapolis have been targeted by a series of highly intimidating, sweeping police raids across the city, involving teams of 25-30 officers in riot gear, with semi-automatic weapons drawn, entering homes of those suspected of planning protests, handcuffing and forcing them to lay on the floor, while law enforcement officers searched the homes, seizing computers, journals, and political pamphlets. Last night, members of the St. Paul police department and the Ramsey County sheriff's department handcuffed, photographed and detained dozens of people meeting at a public venue to plan a demonstration, charging them with no crime other than "fire code violations," and early this morning, the Sheriff's department sent teams of officers into at least four Minneapolis area homes where suspected protesters were staying.

YEAH... Real stable bunch.

YEAH... Real stable bunch. Starting fires. Smashing windows of businesses... Slashing tires... Dumbasses...

I'm sorry my friend, fire

I'm sorry my friend, fire code regulations are not the same thing as starting fires. While I appreciate the excessive effort you spend spreading FUD, we really don't have much time for it. Keep up the misinformation.

the article didn't say they were charged

with starting fires etc. It only said they were charged with fire CODE violations; that could merely mean too many people in a room or some other trumped up charge to excuse the police invasion.

Preemptive police raid on RNC protesters leads to investigation --

A representative of the National Lawyers Guild said the police officers are simply trying to prevent the activists from their right to protest as no charges or official complaints have been filed.

I still see comments

regarding 'protesters who wanted to throw urine'.
Mainstream readers perhaps? ... but it pays to look a bit deeper

This goes alot higher

than local yokels. I've seen photos of individuals in FBI jackets directing their operations against these people. The fact that the only official action to be reported was some type of zoning or fire code violation speaks volumes about how our government will engage in overkill. I wonder how many of us have seen our local zoning officer leading a gang of jackbooted stormtroopers armed with automatic weapons to investigate a neighbors infraction of civil law? Of coarse the MSM hasn't let me down by ignoring this travesty.

If not us than who?

are you ready for violence and bloodshed?

Most of you guys only heard and saw on TV how it's done in the third world countries. If you think you can takeover even some of the political spectrums think again. They've been building this powergrid for decades just to give it up now?

Police shouldn't be breaking

Police shouldn't be breaking into people's homes because of what they might do.

You know, a lot of people would like to see Ron Paul supporters dragged out of their homes because of what they think Ron Paul supporters might do too...

That reminds me:

4409 Arrested - Toe Broken!
The videographer 4409 is a reporter for Freedom's Pheonix, a webzine many will recognize as the publishing house of R[3vol]lution originator Ernest Hancock. 4409 was arrested last night while filming a protest of radar camera vans in Scottsdale, AZ. He was brought before a judge twice this morning on charges of "refusing to provide truthful name" and released OR.

However, the Scottsdale police had not had their fill, so they broke his toe and brought him before another judge alleging "obstructing government operations". He was, again, ordered released OR and finally was released from custody this evening at 5:15 pm.

If you haven't seen it, here's an example of the unconscionable crimes 4409 was filming:

you believe the police?

It's far more likely the cops just made it all up so they could hold them in jail. WoldNetDaily is quite a lousy source too. Indymedia has photos of the actual warrants and what the cops found (in at least one case).

http://twincities.indymedia.org/

They always do this to hippies/anarchists/leftists I wonder if they'll do the same to the RPers...

I really worry about

the delegates and their supporters in St. Paul.

Dr. Paul cured my apathy

Ron Paul was right

Thanks for making us aware

Thanks for making us aware of this article. This sounds very unlawful considering the people HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING WRONG.

I'd like to see

what happens when 30 of those asshats bust into a house with 100 well armed Americans who refuse to be treated like they are in Nazi Germany or the USSR!

When will our law enforcement officers (formerly peace officers) refuse to obey unconstitutional and unethical orders? Are ALL of them really so brainwashed that they think they are doing good with shit like this?

I'd like to see that...

but to answer your question: never, the kind of people who become cops are simply incapable of discerning right from wrong, they (like dogs) only do as they are told and react within the confines of their training... the only way things will ever change (without removing every one of these psychopaths from the gene pool) is when the role of police is returned from "enforcing the law" back to "keeping the peace"...

Yep.

They are screened for thse things. The ones they hire usually have power trip issues, and I believe this is a plus for getting the job. The lower the IQ the better. A cop simply does the of collecting revenue. There is no protect and serve anymore. They are legalized mafia. We will not be free with them, unless their powers are reduced 90%, and all they have the power to do is protect and serve, no more collecting revenue, which eventually leads to entrapment. Without this happening, we will never be free.

Police State!

To hell with the fire code violations, thats just trumped up charges to justify this violation of the Constitution.

I long for the day, that the stormtroopers are met with overwhelming firepower. If they want to break the law, we should abide the law and defend our residences with devastating force.

Of course the defenders will eventually be killed, but the day of reckoning is coming.

There are always 2 sides to every story

Here's a partial list of items found: PVC pipe, chicken wire and duct tape – believed by police to be intended for locking protesters together in human barricades called "sleeping dragons" – five-gallon buckets of urine, throwing knives, flammable liquids, homemade caltrops (devices used to puncture tires, presumably bus tires), bolt cutters, sledgehammers, protective padding, and plastic buckets cut into shields.

Doesn't sound like these people were planning a peaceful demonstration.

What is your stupid point here?

We have several guns and ammunition in our home...but that doesn't give the police a right to come and raid my house. Get a clue? This is total BS.

So do we

but we don't have buckets of urine, etc. Maybe their plumbing was out of order.

And We Have

Tazers, rubber bullets, microwave weapons, assault rifles, riot gear, tanks, and body armor? NO! Are you stupid or what? If they can come into your home without a warrant, THEY CAN SET YOU UP FOR WHATEVER! THEN WE HAVE NO RIGHTS! How naive can you be?

If the police are willing to enter the premises without a......

search warrant, what makes you think they are not lying about what they found during their search? How could anyone believe anything these so-called law enforcement officers have stated? Remember, they are sworn to uphold the Constitution, which they have blatantly failed to do. So they are obviously not trustworthy.

are you sure

they are sworn to uphold the constitution? I thought it was the laws of the jurisdiction.
In the army, we swore to uphold the constitution, but I have personally sworn-in a chief of police and do not remember the us constitution in there at all.

Sounds about right

What the offices have assault Rifles Body Armour and Tazers? How is a little piss and some tire flattening a problem? And yeah since when is protecting yourself a bad thing. Plastic buckets sound pretty creative.

If you can't assemble peacefully what choice do you have.. I didn't see where anyone would have a gun or a grenade... Hummm.

Kay do you care more about property or PEOPLE???

Sounds like an invasion of privacy if you ask me.. Since when did that become constitutional.

Holy crap, I agree with oruval

It sounds to me like some people are not willing to protest in the "free speech pens" and are trying to defend their free speech rights. They are expecting to get maced tazed, clubed and shot with rubber bullets.

If someone wanted to really cause serious trouble, they wouldn't waste time with buckets of piss.

...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

Really

You aren't seriously defending people who wanted to block bridges, throw urine on people, and puncture tires, are you? I mean, it's true we have freedom of speech, but so do our ideological enemies!

You sound like one of those government plants who try to drum up protester violence. I find it kind of curious that this group was able to lease out a building in Minneapolis as a headquarters for their efforts.

Register as Republican and Vote for Ron Paul

sorry not a government plant.

I am all for civil disobediance non violent. So let us see here.. You think that the government paid these people to be plants only to have the Minnesota police arrest them? Wouldn't you think that if that sort of thing were to be paid for that the police would have been told to back off??? Think about what you are saying..

I do sympathize with them

And it makes me happy to see that some people won't accept the "free speech zone".

Of course, our ideological opponents have no problem using any means necessary to limit debate. Is Barr or Nader going to be in the debates, did RP get a chance to speak at the convention ? What about the Nevada delegation.

Has any of our efforts led to MSM attention thus far.

There are those who would risk imprisonment for the cause. I applaud them. I would only risk imprisonment at this time if they tried to invade my home. But worse times are a coming as we all shall see.

Sounds like ordinary household items to me.

I mean, who doesn't keep 5 gallon buckets of urine around the house. You don't want to run out. It can be hard to find. Never around when you need it. You can always use some more.
