Updated: The RNC is calling a quorum today to nominate McCain
Submitted by lynnopoly on Mon, 09/01/2008 - 08:30They are going to vote when we are preoccupied, I think. We need to be at the RNC. Half the delegates and alternates haven't arrived yet (voting would be on Wednesday) and they are going to try to vote and run.
**UPDATE: Now that the storm has proved minimal damage, it looks like the RNC is proceeding as originally planned. However, I would keep an eye on things. As we have seen in primaries around the country; they cheat.

Republican National Committee Chairman Robert "Mike" Duncan said that by law, the convention had to be called to order on Monday. A quorum of at least half plus one of the 2,400 delegates was needed to conduct business such as securing a report of the Credentials Committee, adopting the convention's rules, electing the convention's officer and adopting the party's platform.
A quorum is also needed to formally nominate both McCain and running mate Sarah Palin, although they would not have to be onsite to accept their nominations....
Something to ponder...
At the Rally last night, they announced that the delegates were to be transported to the convention, for a possible floor vote.
A little later, they announced that 500+ seats were available up front, due to the delegates leaving. (Hoping for tons of delegates!)
The 'vote' did not happen last night.
Was this a Republican ploy to see to it that the delegates miss the Rally?
When the delegates arrived at the convention, were they identified as the Ron Paul Delegates, to be shut out of the vote?

ROLL CALL WED: LEGAL?
It looks like the the Roll Call vote is scheduled for Wednesday night...but is that legal??
I'm hoping someone has a link to the GOP rules. I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure there was some rule, decided at the previous Nat'l GOP convention, that the vote MUST take place on September 2, 2008.
Wednesday would, of course, be September 3rd.
What happens if the vote is taken on the wrong day? Invalidated? OR???
Let's find this out.

only that it needs to be openned on 9/1/08.
Solution
Arrange for just one or two (alternate) Ron Paul delegates at the RNC and then all the others can be at the rally, with mobile contact and special minibus etc. ready to transport all the delegates fast from the Target Center to Excel Center/RNC in a short time.
Delegates please be vigilant,
I'd hope all Paul delegates could stay at the Convention through the formal nomination process so there's no risk of not being there when it's critical.

From everything we've heard, there is virtually no chance for dissent at this convention. EVERYTHING is completely scripted, and the mics do not even get turned on until the right person is standing there, ready to make the pre-approved statement, motion, etc. It is all show. A lot of our national delegates (and we actually garnered about 300 from around the country), were trying to come up with ways to get around the script-- but they are (or were) under the impression that the National Convention would remotely resemble the state conventions. It should-- but doesn't.

This is complete misdirection so that the RNC can be totally highjacked! They lost their 'majority' and they KNOW it - so cancel their 'show' and do the dirty work behind closed doors.

I dont see that happening...there is not enough time...
they are only going to meet now for 45 min...(and even if they try to pass his nomination by acclimation-- there is not enough time scheduled for that!!)
I have sources on the ground that say they are only meeting for 45 minutes..

another source (also there) said that all nominations happen on Wednesday...and he has been to 4-5 GOP Nat. conventions...(they could lie about stuff..as they are desperate to shove mccain down out throat)
