the daily kos main story is ron paul and his record breaking haul...

ron paul is called crazy assed and the donors and campaign are described as nothing more than a bunch of white men libertarian techies... goes on to say that the reason there is so much support online is because libertarians are disproportionately involved with technology careers and internet...and that it is all men... the term white supremacist is even used...

what i have found from the liberal establishment- is no idea who ron paul is- or what he stands for- most having no idea who he is or anything he has ever said, written etc... but most seem to possess a quick ability to criticize and demean simply because he is a republican and libertarian... these people seem so blind and dependent on the current paradigm that ignorance is their main asset in defending their ways of thinking... blindly stating what they believe to be the correct, accepted language that their clique would accept-- although none seem to have any real idea about what they are really saying-- no critical thought- since most seem to be caught up in showing how liberal they are...

Liberals and Entitlements

Working in public schools , now for 25 years, I have seen how the "liberals" work their agendas. They first define a social cause which on the surface would be difficult for anyone to object to. Then they develope a plan for change, to help those with the need. This always involves money, not theirs of course, but yours and mine!! Now thsy develope a support staff around themselves, of course they adminstrate this program earning a higher salary. Viola a bureaucracy has formed and the taxpayer now has another entrenched obligation for life.
Civil service is goverments huge tax burden laid out to the working class. Sure , some people are winners under this system, but the American financial system has severe cracks and this is one of them. To expect the liberals to honestly participate in any meaningful dialogue which might reduce their power and cash flow is not going to happen anytime soon. I personally feel that only a 1929 senario will allow us to make signifcant but necessary changes in our welfare state.

Hypocrites

That site is so damn ridiculous. Those 'influental' liberal sites have with their bogus opposition to the war as much blood on their hands as the neocons.
I hate it when establishment whores are pretending to be the good guys.

I think they're in some way the equivalent to the Republicans who use the victims of 9/11 to justify the mass killing of muslims - soulless hypocrites who will do anything to reach their selfish goals.

Reading the Commnet on the Daily KOS

If you actually read the comments from the DailyKOS, you will find that many there are angry out their own elite (Clinton, Obama, Edwards) for not having the brass to be as firm in their opposition to the war in Iraq as Ron Paul has shown.

Many praise him for his consistency in several key area's. They have even commented on their giving money to the campaign because he seems to be the only one, Republican or Democrat that is fighting the good fight.

While they may find some of his other policies not to their liking, as they move closer to the primaries and caucuses, we may find them on the side voting for Ron Paul because they feel the others have sold out.

Don't belittle the readers at the Daily KOS, they may become full fledge supports of RP with just a little more passage of time.

I'm going off of an experience 4 months ago when they were censoring me and spreading lies and smearing Ron Paul.

If the tide hath changed, I think I'll go visit them now and see what's up.

A good one at that. I signed up over there. It appeared some of them could use some cold hard logic for a change. I intend to provide some. Gotta wait 24 hours to post tho. : ( I saw one lawyer on there talking about a "prenumbra" right to privacy and saying that certain parts when taken as a whole supposedly implied a right of privacy but that his law professors hard a hard time defending it with a straight face. It is actually quite easy to prove that a right to privacy exists in the Constitution and when my 24 hours are up I'll prove it by explaining to them the many wonders of the 9th amendment (the proof that privacy does exist).

AMENDMENT IX:

"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

One of my favorites and oft overlooked. It basically says that just because we didn't list it as a right here in the bill of rights, doesn't mean that it's not a right. I even use it in right to bear arms arguments. If they say the 2nd amendment only applies to people in the military, then I just bash them upside the head with the 9th. Goes something like this "I claim the right to keep and bear for self defense and for other purposes under the 9th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I am part of the people and I retain that right!" Gotta love the founders, they thought of most everything. : )

most of the people at Kos are like us, just seeking the truth they bash republican and dems who get it wrong, that we all do not agree on all the issues makes the paul crowd that much better, because we do not. I am pro choice, do not have anything against gays, but i am willing to listen to all points of view and keep an open mind. Those issues are to be talked about in a free country. I feel Ron paul is about giving us the freedom in the Constitution. Funny how I'm a Ron Paul supporter who manages to donate a bit here and there while paying over $30,000 a year to go to school... clearly I'm loaded because I'm white and love technology [/sarcasm].

Sooner or later some of these people are going to have to take a look at what really works, at which point they will vote for Dr. Paul. However, considering these and other amazing displays of intellectual inadequacy, I'm not optimist ;)

That site is a joke. They (or some of the users, anyway) apparently blasted Cindy Sheehan for challenging Nancy Pelosi and other run-of-the-mill democrats.

I've read several blogs/articles on there about Dr. Paul and a striking number of people who post there are 1) uninformed, 2) uncompromising, and/or 3) hypocritical. They are quick to bring up that stupid article written by a racist campaign staffer over a decade ago (who was promptly fired). They love to twist Ron's words, they love to use that "guilt by association" crap, etc.

However, kudos to Markos (the founder) for acknowledging that our strategy is something worthwhile, although I'm sick of hearing people call Ron "crazy".

Ian, the site isn't a joke. Sometimes people vent just to vent.

While the writers and editors for the Daily KOS might push their agenda from a different slant, the readers are making the distinction between the 'Crazy' aspect of Ron Paul.

Many readers of that particular post, and there were 395 when I was reading it last night, might find some of the things that RP wants to do as untenable but they were also praising him for not flip flopping. That he had a consistency of message and didn't compromise for political expediency.

I think that is the main reason that we who are his supporters here on DailyPaul like the man so much. We ALWAYS know where he stands.

With just a bit of patience on the part of us here, we could have a huge number of new donors to his campaign, a new set of helpers at Meetups and a new cheering section come the primaries.

It's part of the Progressive culture...

Left-leaning Democrats are so fed up with D.C. and with President Bush and Co. that they immediately dismiss any republican as pure evil and the thought of voting for him or her sheer idiocy. It's an insult to them to even imagine discussing a republican when for years they have been yearning for a Democrat and George Bush's dastardly fumbles have given them the window. So, it's not crazy for them to dismiss Paul; but it's not exactly rational either.

I admire your energy and am a closet Paul (and Kucinich) supporter. You guys are setting the standard this election cycle and I'll even kick in some money in sympathy.

I am sooooo sick of Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich being mentioned in the same sentence. It shouldn't even be the same PAGE. If anyone has really looked at Dennis Kucinich's ideas, they'll see that he is worlds apart from Ron Paul. Kucinich, on the official gov site, openly admits he wants to ban all handgun possession by citizens, leaving them only in the hands of government, military, and law enforcement.

Does this sound like he has even READ the Constitution or Second Amendment? He appears to be real pro United Nations, and universal health care, I'm all for health care, but it should not be done in a socialist manner. Listen to what he says! He's a globalist! He says the UN has problems because we stopped paying them! "I view the world as one". So much for US sovereignty. Hello North American Union. I guess people lump them together because Kucinich is anti-war, but look deeper folks, please.

I like both Paul & Kucinich for different reasons. I include them in the same breath because they are both outside of the mainstream of their own party, but - strangely - pretty much inside the mainstream of American opinion. And the media and party leaders would rather ignore their substantive issues.

Personally, I'm not against the UN - as a mechanism for solving global problems, it's sort of the only game in town and it could be useful. I'm not a gun fanatic either. There are so many guns in the US that banning them would be an impossibility. I don't get worked up about either issue though.

I'm more interested in stopping the war, stopping American interventions abroad, reducing our defense spending and - are you ready? - implementing some degree of national health care.

I live overseas (in Japan) and participate in their national health care scheme and am quite happy with it. It's easy to use and transparent. It also costs less than my insurance would cost in the US, I cannot be denied medical care and as a share of GDP, the Japanese only spend about 1/2 of what the US spends yet they live longer in Japan. There's private supplemental insurance for people who want additional coverage, you're free to choose your own doctor and most of the hospitals are private. that's where I agree with Kucinich.

I can't speak for everyone hear but,

For the record im a libertarian, tried and true. I lurk on Kos from time to time, and more often now to gauge the democratic response to paul's message. What's fascinating to me is that many Kossacks proclaimed themselves single issue voters on the war and now their resolve is being tested by a repub who is stridently anti-war, and a dem who is tacitly pro-war and unitary executive as well.

Whether RP's message gets it done for you in the end or not, i appreciarte your intellectual honesty in at least exploring the liberty alternative.

Liberty is a damn big tent man, and i for one welcome you.

I think you have a pretty good group here. I visit a lot of right wing blogs but it's tough to have an actual conversation beause there is so much name calling. I'm guilty, too, but I do it in response to others, generally.

This is like a hidden city that I have stumbled upon and it's inhabited by old-school Republicans that I thought didn't really exist anymore. I'm glad I found it and like your energy.

While I'm active in Democratic politics, I'm not a robot and if the race actually came down to, say, Hillary and Ron Paul, I'd probably vote for Paul. As I told someone earlier, I think our country can - and does - endure things a lot worse than a veto happy President, which I'm sure Ron Paul would be. Frankly, that'd be fine with me.

I'm still a supporter of national health care though ;-) I live in Japan and participate in their system and can honestly tell you that I have more freedom in Japan when it comes to health care than I would ever have in modern America. The care is fine, too, and I'm not locked into a job I hate because I'm afraid of losing my coverage, as I probably would be if I was in the US.

There's no such thing as a typical Ron Paul supporter.

Even I don't agree with the Dr. %100.
He has a wide support base. (not to be confused with 'wide stance' :)
We appreciate all the varied support.
We also get very defensive of attacks on the Dr. Especially when they just insult him without explaining why. (this happens alot)

Tact is something which is somewhat lost online. I believe Tact is always the best policy mainly because it is much more persuasive.

Anyway, I've read some nasty things on KOS, but I don't lump all lefty's in one basket.

I think this campaingn is building up my troll tolerance. That's a good thing. :)

Ever since Bush got in I have hung out with these lefties for the past 7 years because I got banned from Red State years ago for bringing up the fact that Reagan had the balls to talk to foreign leaders instead of just bombing them...

I posted with those people for the past few years quoting the Constitution time and again to bash down the Bushie trolls that would show up and verbal jerk their egos off in front of us... they KNOW the facts in the Constitution I know they do, because I watched them post these things...

NOW they have stoped because the bushies are losing and they dont have to anymore... they are wanting to sink in with the democrats and hope they will "win" this time... They can be turned... just get them in a debate based on facts and they will try to out fact you... and then will get cornered because they will try to use the Constitution and logic... and we know we got that down also...

Many of them (I am one) feels like the democrats have stabbed us in the back... go with that... they really feel that way...

Why?

Just my opinion, but why register with them doesn't that work to their advantage? Helps, their numbers or whatever. I don't think it would
do any good and it would waste a lot of our time when there are so
many other things we need to be doing for Dr. Paul. In fact I am
starting to think a lot of these polls and stuff are using us to their

I am Hispanic and like the ideas of freedom. What! is freedom supposed to be just for white supremacists? What about blacks and Asians are we suppose to distance ourself from the ideas of liberty and freedom, just because some communist are saying that freedom and liberty is just for a few white supremacists? Freedom is for everyone, it is color blind, but colorful.
