I will be removing "Republican" from my voter registration tomorrow.

why do you think the slogan is ... rally for the republic ... a call to bing the GOP back to its roots?

i mean just sit back and take this in for one second .. if all the independents and libertarians and conservatives just stopped and realized for one second .. they are all pretty much have the same philosophy with maybe a small tweak here or there ... the numbers added up would mean a much larger percentage ..

that is what essentially "Ron Paul Republican" means ... libertarian, conservative, independent ...

if your going to spend your life trying to get away from words and definitions you will find yourself on a never ending road ... liberal used to be a good word ... now they use it as a bad word .. so what!? that hasn't changed anything ... smart people know what it is

so the GOP isn't what it used to stand for ... we can take it back if we really want to ... but no one seems to want to agree on this

I had been registered Democrat because in California it meant I had more to choose from in the primaries, but I always voted for the best individual I could find, regardless of party. In those days, we only had three networks and newspapers for news, so the pickings were slim.

But no matter how I voted, the dominant parties still weren't offering me good candidates, so, in the late 80's, I changed my registration in order to register my disgust. (If I hadn't, I'd never have heard of Ron Paul.)

I changed my registration to Libertarian based solely on the occupations of the candidates. The LP candidates were listed on my ballot as physics professors, programmers, engineers and mathematicians instead of "incumbents" and elected officials.

Shortly after changing my registration, somebody from the LP called me and invited me to join the party. I was made to feel welcome, and they invited me to attend my first convention as a delegate. Ron Paul came and spoke.

I was born to be a Libertarian, so I'll never leave them, but I realize not everyone is willing to be ridiculed and marginalized even if it means having a clear conscience. Ron Paul did what was right for him when he went back to Congress as a Republican, again. The political realities vary from state to state and at different levels of government, so you have to decide what works for you.

Anybody who wants to join the LP should do so, even if you hope one day you'll return to the GOP or the Democrat parties. You can still vote for Ron Paul if you're in his district and donate to his Congressional race if you aren't. It doesn't matter which party you're in for those activities.

Practice your Robert's Rules, make friends, maybe run for office a few times and you'll have experience that will serve you in any party.

There's some genuine blowback being submitted around here.These are the results of trusting in Party affiliations and Parties not standing on principles.Remeber the opening of the Revolution the Manifesto...
Every four years we get the same ......

The Constitution does not account for political parties. I'm almost always registered independent. I've only been registered Republican twice in my life...once when I was young and ignorant and earlier this year in order to vote for Ron Paul in my state caucus. I quickly re-registered independent as it was repugnant to be a Republican after that party has destroyed the Constitution.

What's amazing to me it the arguments from the people saying to stay within the Repub ranks. Change a few words and you sound EXACTLY like the clowns saying how we have to support McSame. Yeah that's the key - no fucking way, I left and I ain't ever going back - EVER - that party is dead.

and I changed to Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the closed primary. Changed it back to Libertarian because the thought of me being affiliated with the Republican Party makes me ill.

Now that McCain/Palin won the nomination amid the corruption at RNC with some state delegation leaders ignoring the remaining few Paul delegates' votes and speakers' suppression of the actual Paul delegate vote count, I can safely predict Barack Obama will win the election in a landslide, like Dr. Paul predicts.

The revolutiuon is not dead. It lives on. Paul/Ventura 2012.

I'll switch back to "Republican" when i see a real republican on the ballot. Until then i will help bury the GOP.
