Why is the third party the only way?

Was member of Reform Party. Buchanan/Foster 2000. Now Deform Party. Was member of Constitution Party until April 21, 2006 and their infamous vote. I turned my back to Howard Phillips on Sept 1 at the nation celebration. I too will be a tick in the hide of the Republican Party till it returns to being the REPUBLIC - an party.

My accomplishment will be contributing to the low voter turnout for McCain, Obama and third parties and as someone suggested, a website should be created, if not done so already, to count the Ron Paul votes.

We have a right to play our game with our rules, using every loophole there is. 3rd party, restoring the major parties, a mix of the 2. We need to keep them on their toes.

the only way, it is simply A way. I have no doubt if a party other than Dem or Repub gained enough power (and therefore the lobby & money that comes with it), you would see corruption begin infiltrating them as well.

I am neither a bible-thumping Republican, nor am I a socialist Democrat. At least not for either of them the way they are today. Hell, if you look at the origins (post-whig) of the Republican party, things like supporting prohibition, creating the Interstate Commerce Commission, bringing the party "back to its ROOTS" isn't exactly a basket of peaches either.

You nail it on the head though.. whether you are Dem, Repub, Independant (which is somewhere around 30%, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:U.S._party_affiliation.svg) when you hear liberty call for aid, be prepared to answer.

I don't think it matters how we keep it moving, just that we all keep it moving in our own way, diversify our efforts, and keep spreading the message. I'll be giving up my GOP membership simply because I only signed up for it to vote for Paul in the first place, and I certainly don't want the GOP thinking I joined their ranks to make sure I can support invading whatever country the US decides to dislike next.

It never ceases to amaze me how those that want to leave for a 3rd party can’t seem to comprehend the simple math that renders 3rd parties benign. The goal is to take over the reigns of power. In order to do that you have to go where the power is, which is not in 3rd parties. But people are too hung up on their emotions about those big meanies who control the Republican Party that disrespected us etc.

It’s not about party it’s about principle however we if we want change we have to take the seats of power. Nothing against the 3rd parties but they are mostly back slapping parties and bitch fests parties that accomplish nothing while allowing the big two to run rough shod over the country.

If I thought a 3rd party had a legitimate shot I would ditch the Republicans in a heart beat. However reason, logic, and pragmatism dictate that to accomplish our goals we must take the reigns of the Republican Party.

Sure it’s possible some charismatic leader could come along and unite the factions of 3rd parties and independents enough to have a legitimate shot bit it is highly unlikely especially in today’s media climate.

In the mean time the only logical solution with the best chance of succeeding is to take over the Republicans and we get the mindless republican voters by default who vote party line and don’t really know or care what’s actually going on to put us over the top.

People keep setting their hopes on some shot in the dark or some miracle and that is an excuse to not get involved in their local GOP and take it back. We have had successes in doing that all across this country, we have proven it works. We just need more people to bite the bullet and step up and do the hard work it takes.

So can we stop the whining now, grow up and face reality, and get to work?

I don't see anyone saying Ron Paul was a failure. He absolutely was not. He ran Libertarian in 88. He ran Republican in 08. Where was he most successful. 08 is right. He knew what he was doing.

I think we should continue to take over the GOP. But to do that, we must get in there and then fix the voting system. There is absolutely NO POINT in arguing this point AT ALL, until we fix the VOTING SYSTEM.

The absolute only thing that we need to talk about right now is HOW we are going to fix the VOTING SYSTEM.

Can you hear me?????? It is the VOTING SYSTEM that needs focus.

National politics is like pro-wrestling, only less dignity and no realism.

The game is fixed; however, the players are not faceless. The first people to out would be the media moguls. There's only about a dozen major players among this crowd. Learn who owns the major media outlets and YouTube or viral email presentations "outing" them. The James Bond movies proved over and over the public responds to villians, not faceless organizations such a AIPAC, CFR, Trilateral Commission, FED, IRS, etc.
Be certain of your facts. I made the mistake of creating a presentation with just ONE factural error, and it was used to invalidate everything else in the presentation.

The Campaign for Liberty must remain structured as a loose federation of INDEPENDANT individuals! No more parties. No more thick layers of management and top-down control. We have evolved beyond the need for heirachy, because we have the internet.

To re-capture the abomination of the Republican Party is only a step backwards into their paradign (that they control). To establish a new beauracracy, however pristine, would only lead to its inevitable capture.

The party system is obsolete social technology. We must decentralize, deconstruct, and distribute.

A simplified statement of principle is all that is needed.

It's time to evolve.

Other than Ross Perot, what Ron Paul and his supporters did in the past year is probably more than what all the third parties combined have done.
