A Ron Paul Republican No More!

0 votes

Lew Rockwell has a post up today titled "Ron Paul Republicans Drop Prefix." There were a few in the MA delegation that did the same thing, the night after the big vote. Today, I also have an announcement for all of my friends out there in Internetland. This morning I did something similar. Instead of dropping the prefix however, I dropped the suffix. I am a Republican no more.

To be clear, I joined the Republican party for one reason and one reason only, and that was to support Dr. Paul's presidential bid. I'm not a joiner. I don't like being part of ideologically driven groups, and certainly not this one (I mean the national GOP here, not my brothers and sisters in the MA delegation who I stand by), not after what I saw at the convention. I simply cannot stomach being a voluntary member of what I perceive to be a bullying, morally and spiritually bankrupt organization focused solely on appearance over substance. Our current two party system is nothing more than an elaborate hoax. It is a divide and conquer strategy against the American people, doing little more than creating false divisions among us – the more the better – to get us hating and mistrusting one another. I saw it all first hand at the convention, though the negotiations of the infamous “deal,” and in conversations with other Republicans, delegates and strategists. Politics is a game of deception: Look over here at the war while the economy goes down the tubes. Trust me – I'm on your side (until I screw you).

My involvement in Ron Paul's campaign began as a political quest, but it has grown into a spiritual one. One of the most important things I've taken away from the last 18 months is (surprised?) personal freedom and liberty. Without understanding the nature of personal freedom and liberty, we cannot ever hope to build a free nation. Like Ron Paul, I will never abandon the cause of Liberty, but I choose to fight it from outside the bounds of the Republican Party. Can you imagine if Gandhi, or Martin Luther King felt than in order to change their countries, they had to do it from within the confines of the existing political system? What if they said, “I'll start working my way up, beginning with the post of Town committeeman.” As Dr. Paul said at the end of his speech at the Rally – this movement is much bigger than the Republican party, or the Democratic party or the Libertarian party.

Please understand that I am not here to say that working inside the GOP is bad or wrong or being sellout. I don't believe that. Like Dr. Paul, I don't want to control your life, or coerce you into thinking that I know what the best path is for you. There is only one person who knows that, and

that

is

you

:)

Personal freedom. Most people tiptoe through their lives on the way to death. These are the ones who are afraid, who do not realize the freedom and the power they have.

The reason I am writing this is to give anyone courage who is wavering about how to best carry on in this fight. There is no single right way. You are free to choose, but keep in mind the very important piece of advice Dr. Paul gave us: Have fun! This is your life, and yours to live as you choose. If you have fun in the GOP, then good! Roll with it and share the fun with us. Before long, it will be a real party.

To all of my friends and fellow revolutionaries on the Daily Paul, to my brothers and sisters both inside the GOP and out, to the amazing crew of people from the MA delegation who shared in a tremendous week out in Minneapolis – every single one of you – know that I love you, and that everything is going to be just fine.

More on the word love tomorrow.

This post was from Sept,8

and everything is not fine! I thought people here were awake. Make a list of what is fine? And realistic ways we can fix it before it is totally unfixable.Realism please. I love you all too but I feel like we are going in circles. By the time we start a new party (what ever you name it) or change the GOP just where do you think we will be by then? I hate to be a bummer but things are going down hill almost as fast as the towers fell. We need a realistic plan and we need it fast. I just find it hard to see a way not to break the rules so to speak when all the rules keep changing. We seem to be playing against a team without rules for themselves but plenty of rules for us. I really don't think being awake gives us the guts to do anything that will save us. Had to get that off my chest. Feeling a bit hopeless. I really don't want to play this game without a strategy anymore. Think how muc worse things have gotten since Sept. and it hasn't really even taken effect yet! Is it really possible to turn things around fast enough politically? Bills are being passed without even being read for Gods sake! Laws are made and we don't hear about them until they take effect. My goodness how many people will get fined or jailed for selling used childrens items at yard sales ect.. that don't even know about the new law? Most people don't even know about real id. if they do they don't really understand what it is anymore than they do the federal reserve. I'm running out of funds and patience. Trying to stock up on supplies to survive the coming nightmare. garden ect. How do I stay strong when I feel like we are walking on a burning tight rope. Am I over reacting? Is it going to be fine?

You are not over reacting!

Sorry! But when I said the same thing, I got, "Oh, come on now."

Thanks for

sharing. Maybe we will find the answer soon. I need to feel more hopefull . I have a granchild coming in June.Sure would like to feel more joy and less worry for the future. I have3 grown kids. Only one seem to get the seriuosness of the situation.

Well said Michael!

"Our current two party system is nothing more than an elaborate hoax. It is a divide and conquer strategy against the American people, doing little more than creating false divisions among us – the more the better – to get us hating and mistrusting one another."

You are absolutely right in your observation and this has been going on ever more rapidly for far too many years.

I think quite often about how we are no longer unified Americans with a common vision, namely liberty, but an eternally warring polarized mass of "we and they" who never see eye to eye on ANYTHING because of blind party affiliations. This has so destroyed our unity as a country that every group is at war with each other with no end in sight.

Also too, since the mantra "to celebrate diversity" has become the national motto, our commonality in just being Americans has been lost on the majority of people who wonder what has become of their country.

Old story.....divide and conquer and a house divided against itself cannot stand! Some of the old Communist tactics I'm afraid!

"Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom." Patrick Henry

Maybe

we need to create the Paul Party. I can't think of a name for a party that could better specify its intent and values.

The Paul Party platform could be directly modeled from the values preached by the man that inspired the Party's creation, Dr. Ron Paul.

Having the name of our great hero as the name of the party could serve as a reminder to ensure the Party will never lose its direction.

We're not interested in becoming a personality cult

Ron got us here, but we need to take things forward on our own.

Also, people are just not interested in starting a new party.

I believe we need our own platform, and then to use the "takeover strategy" with a political party that isn't far removed from us. A party with which we have minor philosophical quibbles here and there, but not major disagreements.

Amen!

Great post!

I now call myself a "Ron Paul libertarian".

If enough of us can take over the party in question, I will change the "L" in "libertarian" to a capital letter. But libertarian is what I am and what we stand for.

The GOP doesn't even have enough philosophical validity to measure up to the word 'conservative'.

Unfortunately, this parable

Unfortunately, this parable applies to third parties as well. At least we have Ron Paul and ghosts from the GOP past(Goldwater, Taft, Reagan*shudder*) as proof that this method is a little more fertile.

Having said that, if someone like Jesse Ventura who can smash the media blockade runs independent, believe me I will be there in a second.

Ventura 2012

Ventura proved it can be done.

He had celebrity on his side. Celebrity or money--either are very powerful factors.

A Viable Third Party is Needed

Well said! The two party tyranny must stop - a viable third party is needed if the nation is to be saved. Both parties have failed miserably in their stewardship of our national interests, prosperity and freedom.

Attempts to reform the republican party are a distraction from the real issues. The two parties have subjugated our sovereignty and constitutional law to the "unusual powers" of corrupt bankers and their lackeys.

I think the various alternative parties (libertarians, constitutional, green party, etc) should agree to a common platform that represents the peoples interests. They could agree to participate in a primary; to help form a platform and consensus in uniting under a common presidential candidate.

I had hoped that Ron Paul would be the person to unite the disenfranchised but he chose to stick it out with the republicans. I respect his decision, but I think it was a mistake.

If the polls are correct and

If the polls are correct and Obama ends up as President, then maybe, just maybe, the republican party will realize that they have all but killed their own party and will try to revive it by upholding the Constitution. But I doubt it. They just may be known as the war party forever more.

does not make any

does not make any difference! the repubs and the dems are sleeping together!

"When governments fear the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny."
-Thomas Jefferson

I am more concerned about the return of my money than the return on my money. --Mark Twain

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Prov. 22:3; 27:12 KJV)

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

If Obama wins

HA! If he wins, it is all over and the GOP will no longer have any power or influence.
The Paulites etc have been too busy trying to "send a message" to the Republicans to concentrate on the REAL issue - Defeating Obama!
I am no fan of John McCain, but he at least gives us SOME of the things we are looking for, and if he won we would live to fight another day!
Baldwin, McKinney, and a couple others - WHAT do they have to offer, EVEN if they had a CHANCE of winning? So we have split up our vote amongst several losers, to what end? To let Obama get in and finish up the job of destroying our country?

And you don't think Bush

And you don't think Bush hasn't all but destroyed our country and McCain wouldn't finish it off? McCain will give us more war, more debt, and take away what remaining rights we have left. Obama promises the same.

Things look pretty bad no matter how you look at it. Perhaps we should start our own country.

I need to read Harry Browne's How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World. Has anyone here read it and can you tell me the secret?

perhaps

the neocons should have thought about that while they were pursuing another unconstitutional war, attacking the rights of the people to "protect" them, running up huge deficits, and increasing the size of government.

Obama is a creation of the Republican party. If defeating Obama was the REAL issue, then with control of the house, senate, and executive, the GOP should have thought about it and done something that would have put them in a position to do so. The REAL issue for them was creating Obama (and crushing Ron Paul) instead.

If the GOP wants to defeat Obama, they should boot McCain and put Ron Paul up as their candidate. It's as simple as that.

True except that the people

True except that the people who vote democrat are generally against the Iraq war. Whereas most of the people who vote republican are warmongers and proud of it.

Just voted for CHUCK BALDWIN

I am quitting the neo-con Republican party--it is a dying party. It will never ever win a presidential election again.

I've heard that song before!

After '64 I heard the GOP was finished, again after '76 and again after '92. The Republican party will continue as will the Democrats.

vote Nader

and pave the way for Jesse Ventura 2012
