Update: Just spoke to Mr. Nader regarding Wednesday's press conference

0 votes

Update #2: A quite appreciated mention on Mr. Rockwell's Blog:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/022753.html

He was here in Cincinnati and I went down to see him speak hoping that he would take questions afterwards and he did.

I asked him if he was aware of a third party unification ticket to be announced this Wednesday.

He said he was unaware of a "third party unification ticket" but said that he would be at the press conference along with Cinthia McCinney and Bob Barr and that there would be an "unprecedented announcement".

Not sure if he was playing word games regarding a "third party unification ticket", but it sure sounds like it might be a big announcement.

UPDATE:

I must say that I was hoping for more.

I was hoping for a unity candidate.

I was hoping for more media coverage.

I was disappointed in the hype of a somewhat less than “unprecedented” announcement.

Having said that …

Paul has remained true to his tortoise role.

He is in it for the long hall.

I understand what he is doing. He will carefully analyze the voting data in November and then make a decision on how to proceed from there.

He is still unsure of his impact on a national scale, and his skepticism has some merit.

Our actions will influence the path chosen by Dr. Paul at the next fork in the road.

You know what to do …

And since we won’t be voting for Dr. Paul in November, be sure to send him some friends to Washington so he is not lonely.

If in fact there will be a miracle at noon, where Mr. Barr steps down and nominates Dr. Paul for the ticket, this will be a sign. I will immediatly change my role. I will join others on the battle field.

One last prayer bump ....

Let us all pray for Dr. Paul and the rest of the third party candidates tonight.

Also, let us pray that we will be able to accept and promote whatever message Dr. Paul will be announcing tomorrow.

Goodie Bag Ticket?

Please Excuse my lack of knowledge; completely pertaining to running for president and politics, but is it possible that they all pull together on one ticket?

What I mean is (Because I know only one person can be President & Vice) can they choose 2 people (1 for Pres & 1 For VP) and then say that the rest are guaranteed some kind of other position that are available in the executive branch.

So in a sence "Vote for me and you get all these guys too" a Goodie Bag of Presidential delight if you will.

Is that possible?
Do you think it would be smart?

I don't know, the thought just occured to me.

Yeah, I'm wondering that

Yeah, I'm wondering that too. Can he run as a LP/CP/Green?

A number of years ago, in Vermont, someone ran for state senate as a R/CP, but I don't know if the rules are different for the different states or whether it is a national office.

The VT CP just had their state commitee meeting. We're holding off on submitting the paperwork until after tomorrow's press conference incase something big changes.

hahahahaha

Now that was clever!

Octobox
Wisdom is the anticipation of consequences!

If all these folks really came together,

& add Ventura, we are talking about a game changer that's voice would be heard.

League

Has anyone else noticed the passing similarity of the group of five (Ron Paul, McKinney, Nader, Baldwin, and Barr) to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

I do not think Cynthia McKinney

would appreciate being told she looks like a man.

LOL.

RP2012!

The League of Extraordinary

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen included one lady.

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Watch how the press releases build on each other

Here they are, in order, starting with last Friday's:

If you are able to attend, due to limited seating, your response is requested. Please RSVP to ronpaulrsvp@gmail.com.

RP2012!

First it's a big

First it's a big anouncement. Next, about HIS intention for the fall presidential election. Then, 200 supporters to cheer HIM on. They do seem to be building on something, the question is what, I can read into it - but in less then 24 hours the cat will be out of the bag.
As far as I can tell neither Nader nor Mckinney will be there (if the info on their websites is any indication) we will see though
Looks like Bob Barr will be having a press conference afterward http://www.bobbarr2008.com/home/skip/?s=0618

He told me himself that he would be there ...

if nothing else Mr. Nader is a man of his word.

He will be there.

WAHOR!!
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/48994

OK, I was just stating what

OK, I was just stating what was on or not on the website- as far as I can tell Chuck Baldwin is the only one that has posted anything about it on their website http://baldwin08.com/EventsCalendar.cfm if these others are gonna be there they better get someone to update their sites to get the excittment going and more people watching!

If this in fact will require sacrifices from the greens and ...

Nader, I can see why it is not being publicized.

They will go down in history as heros, but their volunteers and staff will not look on this as a victory.

WAHOR!!

Ya I really don't expect any

Ya I really don't expect any sacrifices to be made by any party. I am willing to make sacrifices when it comes to candidates getting extremely important issues right but it seems like people from the left and the right have trouble making sacrifices in regards to economic issues. I would be willing to have everyone unite behind a Ron Paul candidates platform or a Ralph Nader candidates platform.

Also, Nader will be there. Check the first comment on my myspace from him. www.myspace.com/phil_letten

I can't wait :-)

I'll be ready for the next moneybomb !

Real eyes realize real lies

2012, we want our country back

2012 is the year for Ron Paul!

MSM Report: http://www.msmreport.com/

Well, doesn't anyone

Well, doesn't anyone remember when Ross Perot re-entered the race in '92?

Yep. The gov forced him out by kidnapping a family member.

When she was safe, he re-entered.

Ron Paul is the great uniter, the income tax fighter...the military-supported, defender of the border...the political apathy solution and the champion of the Constitution! Doctor Paul is on-call!

You're correct..

about Ron Paul's final numbers in NH. However, I'm correct in saying he needed 15% in such a crowded race. Also, if I recall correctly, he beat McCain in Iowa. I believe he also polled over 20% in PA after everyone (except us) believed it was "all over".

yes

I agree Ron needed at least 15% in NH and some pre election polls where showing him at 13/14%

16% in PA
Idaho 28%
Montana 21% I think
Minnesota 20%
Nevada 16%

anways he should have come third in IA(WAS 5TH)
and in NH with the money and volunteers he should have won
but there was perhaps vote fraud there.Vote swiching from Ron to McCain because exit polls in NH showed that 37% of the voters said they voted for an anti-war candidate and there was only one such.

Re: NH

Not only the exit polling, but older folks interviewed by local media erroneously voted for McCain because, as a POW and based on his platform in 2000, they THOUGHT he was against more WAR.

LEW ROCKWELL Knows What The Announcement Is...

but he won't tell us.

An excerpt from his blog:

Posted by Lew Rockwell at September 9, 2008 10:56 AM

There is indeed great and important news coming on Wednesday, as Ralph indicates. It is not a unification ticket, but it is an historic and direct attack on the Republicrat duopoly. Go, Ron, go!
-------------------------

I guess we wait until tomorrow.

I have confirmation that

I have confirmation that Ralph Nader will be there. I just got a comment back from the Nader campaign on my myspace at www.myspace.com/phil_letten

What about a combination of two leading theories...

Ok....so all the parties join forces to let Dr. Paul in. It may secure him enough of a place to be able to BE IN THE NATIONAL debates during the next 60 days.... Gives him a chance to totally OWN the current candidates. So...he knows he may not win, but look at the education everyone will get!!

Schnecksville, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania

How about something similar...

Suppose all the minor parties use THE SAME ELECTORS. Then a vote for ANY minor party candidate would count toward getting the electors elected - even in winner-take-all states.

(You'd need some sort of agreement about how they'd vote once elected and/or how the designated presidential candidate would handle the other minor parties' issues / place their personnel in his administration, to convince people to vote for them.)

Elect enough to keep either the R or D candidate from getting a majority in the electoral congress and the wheeling-and-dealing can begin, to suck in electors from the other majors. Make it look like they have a real chance and the positive feedback of the "only an R or D can win" meme is broken.

Again I don't necessarily think that this is what's up. But it WOULD be interesting, wouldn't it?

= = = =
"Obama’s Economists: ‘Stimulus’ Has Cost $278,000 per Job."

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

So, you think Ron Paul would not improve on his primary numbers?

Think again. This is why I have repeatedly castigated the Ron Paul staff.
They did a lousy job selling Ron Paul to the US electorate at a critical time (Dec-Jan, just before the New Hampshire primary). Ron Paul needed 15% in New Hampshire (he got 5%). Now, the primary season is over, and "buyers remorse" is setting in. Plus, Ron Paul will no longer have to beg for media attention. He has the strongest grassroots organization of any candidate (probably the strongest in history). He has the media materials in place. A blitz would make him competitive, knocking the wind out of McCain / Palin. It's a long shot; but, by no means, impossible.

Just on grass-roots

Just on grass-roots word-of-mouth/internet, with silence or ridicule from the press, Ron's support was doubling about every three months or so. If that rate held up he'd have had a strict majority in the Republican primaries if he'd started nine months earlier and a landslide victory in the general election. Even with the necessary falloff as you get to higher percentages he'd have been the front-runner rather than an also-ran.

The hard part was always getting people to hear the message despite the media gatekeeping. Once it's been heard and someone decides he's right, it's really hard to get them to change their minds again

So there's no reason that his popularity can't keep increasing, just on word-of-mouth, even though the candidates of the major parties are already picked.

Exponentials are powerful.

let me correct you

Ron got 8% in NH
10% in Iowa just before.

what hurts me inside is knowing that Alan Keyes with little money got 14% in Iowa in 2000.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

Thats cool and all.........

But the border patrol agents are not MLK and or Ghandi.
They were just doing there jobs.
jobs.
not beliefs, they got scrutinized by the legal system, and they are victims of a flawed system.
I feel bad for them.
But they should not run for any high office, it makes no sense!

"The real terrorist's are in this country. They are not planning to blow us up,......... but rather, take our money, our freedom, and our country."

I know there are big fundamental spiritual differences

But doing time for doing the right thing gives you a certain kind of clout...you can trust that they *really* believe certain things.

Ron Paul gained our attention with his words...he gained our trust with his record.

If Ramos is a decent speaker and willing to run, it could be an amazing boost for Ron Paul. But it would be even better to have someone with a solid political career.

Balwin's poltical career is a work horse for the Pubs and a couple Pres/VP runs in the Constitutional party. Mostly, he is a journalist...sorry, that means zero street cred. Frankly, he may be a mole...and he spoke against having women in the military...that's kooky. Sorry, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Peroutka wants a Christian nation...complete with homophobia...backed by nutjob Alex Jones...no real political experience. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Barr has some political experience (more than enough compared to Obama and Palin) with a pretty solid conservative record. However, he recently got bounced out HARD for his war on drugs and homophobia...and he looks dorky. Barr is in the gray zone with me...and possibly a mole.

Alan Keyes? Another one that wants a Christian nation.

Jesse Ventura? Fiscally conservative and socially liberal...sounds great. Workable record. He'd definately put Ron Paul on the map. Mole? I wouldn't be surprised. Uncontrollable? yeah. If he got back in shape, I'd trust his discipline more.

McKinney? She has the demographics, but is darn near a socialist. However, it seems she is willing to look at the man behind the curtain. Thus, she may have changed some of her views since being outsed when she declared that the government had something to do with 9/11. She did put her career on the line...that shows integrity. Just imagine the story she could tell...her story is very much like the Ron Paul delegates...just imagine the gobs of minorities and non-minorities that can identify with her.

Ramos is looking better and better. However, he may not even be elible to run. He may still be in jail.

McKinney didn't go to jail, but she had her career annihilated...cast off into obsurity. We should definately see where she is at today.

Hmmm, Ignacio Ramos would make a great VP choice

Kudos to Baldwin for calling for the immediate pardon and release of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who are serving 11 and 12 year sentences for attempting to uphold immigration law.

But, ummm, Ignacio Ramos himself would get a ton of votes from people who are serious about closing the border...and probably another set of demographics...ola!

Ignacio's imprisonment gives him Gandhi, MLK, and Mandela-like credentials.

Ignacio Ramos' wife will be at the conference, but really this is just a dream for me...I have heard of no such rumors.

Concerning Baldwin as VP, whatever. He talks the talk, but adds nothing of substance. We need people like Ron Paul and Ignacio Ramos to run...they not only talk the talk, they walk the walk.
