Buchanan is correct in that McCain was smart eneough to realize the election was lost without the conservative Republican base which wanted something more/else than his foreign intervention.

Palin a sad choice
By choosing Palin, John McCain did do the seemingly impossible - breath life into is DOA campaign.
But any objective judgment of her record says that she is NOT ready to be VP, or (god forbid) president. In her first interview, she displayed a serious lack of understanding of the issues, and worst - a lack of the finer points of diplomacy; war with Russia? "Perhaps so!"
If that doesn't frighten you, then you aren't paying attention.
Unfortunately she lost my respect for good decision making....
when she accepted the idea of running with John McCain.
If she has any inkling of wanting a political future she would drop out... otherwise she has traded in her entire political career to become a used shoe salesman...

Not That It Matters
The democrats have twice the votes (by the primaries) and four times more donations. The "public opinion polls" are just to make it look like the outcome wasn't decided over a year ago.
From what I've heard, Palin isn't particularly evil; but she DOES seem to be a ruthless cheerleader/beauty queen. She's been underestimated and her opponents have paid dearly, but that doesn't mean she is a good leader, has an intelligent position on economics/foreign policy/domestic policy, or genuinely cares about the country.
Its been mentioned that she is a social conservative (strongly anti-gay marriage, significantly pro-gun, harmlessly anti-abortion, etc.)
Okay, fine. Again, social issues are the least of America's worries.
By far, the most important issues for the nation's health are
1) the Federal Reserve issue,
2) over-reach of federal authority
3) invasion before defense.
These are the important issues, and these are the issues I assume she will act on as told to act [if Obama weren't pre-destined to win]; the social issues? Small potatoes. And she wouldn't even make any significant changes to them if she had the opportunity.
This election, for her, isn't about the country, its about her.
She's a beauty queen; regardless of how ruthless you are, that doesn't make you a politician, a hero, or even a legitimate leader.
McCain/Palin: They're both authoritarians
From what I've read, they both like to control the show. I've seen big-wigs in the entertainment industry do the same thing she did: toss everybody out and put in people who are grateful for the job.
I wonder how she'll like having her own strings pulled?

... if he thinks Sarah can handle the NWO agenda and actually turn this country around. The only reason she was "chosen" to run (obviously by someone a lot smarter than McCain) is because his campaign was dead in the water, absolutely lifeless, without someone young, vibrant and genuinely conservative.
We shall see how long she lasts ... how long it will take for her to morph into one of the boys. As a woman, I must say that I'm not particularly impressed with the caliber of women I see in politics.
Remember, the only reason Sarah or Hillary are where they are today is because the Rockefellers (for NWO purposes) primed the women's lib pump. Their stated goal was to destroy the family and get their hands on children at an early age. All of this "equality" talk has done one thing very well: it has emasculated the male population of the United States to the point where most men are spineless. They swilling beer and cheer on their favorite football teams while their country is being destroyed by a bunch of pasty-faced old bankers. More than a few hav e become "Mr. Mom's" a la Mr. Palin.
