We Agree - Paul, Baldwin, McKinney, Nader Statement

From the C4L site

The Republican/Democrat duopoly has, for far too long, ignored the most important issues facing our nation. However, alternate candidates Chuck Baldwin, Cynthia McKinney, and Ralph Nader agree with Ron Paul on four key principles central to the health of our nation. These principles should be key in the considerations of every voter this November and in every election.

We Agree

Foreign Policy: The Iraq War must end as quickly as possible with removal of all our soldiers from the region. We must initiate the return of our soldiers from around the world, including Korea, Japan, Europe and the entire Middle East. We must cease the war propaganda, threats of a blockade and plans for attacks on Iran, nor should we re-ignite the cold war with Russia over Georgia. We must be willing to talk to all countries and offer friendship and trade and travel to all who are willing. We must take off the table the threat of a nuclear first strike against all nations.

Privacy: We must protect the privacy and civil liberties of all persons under US jurisdiction. We must repeal or radically change the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the FISA legislation. We must reject the notion and practice of torture, eliminations of habeas corpus, secret tribunals, and secret prisons. We must deny immunity for corporations that spy willingly on the people for the benefit of the government. We must reject the unitary presidency, the illegal use of signing statements and excessive use of executive orders.

The National Debt: We believe that there should be no increase in the national debt. The burden of debt placed on the next generation is unjust and already threatening our economy and the value of our dollar. We must pay our bills as we go along and not unfairly place this burden on a future generation.

The Federal Reserve: We seek a thorough investigation, evaluation and audit of the Federal Reserve System and its cozy relationships with the banking, corporate, and other financial institutions. The arbitrary power to create money and credit out of thin air behind closed doors for the benefit of commercial interests must be ended. There should be no taxpayer bailouts of corporations and no corporate subsidies. Corporations should be aggressively prosecuted for their crimes and frauds.

It says the usual "address not found".

pretty pathetic that C4L

pretty pathetic that C4L would de-link such a momentous document.

In a search. It may have gotten lost in a restructure, but I agree, this should have been kept in a prominent place as a big deal. A litmus test for potential candidates, supporters and pundits.

This statement brought 4 disparate platforms together. If it can do that, it can be used in bringing many into the fold...

And the reason...

Barr was shunned by his own(not really) party... Thanks for the flashback, and any politician that agrees to this statement should be considered superior to any incumbent (except RP of course), regardless of their ticket.

That Paul/Palin article and

That Paul/Palin article and the Beck controversy here reminded me of it. I posted an explanation of why Palin was nothing like Paul according to these 4 points on the article, but it hasnt been accepted yet. Kind of wierd, considering rigth before it I made a post comparing a Romneybot to Hitler Youth, so who knows :)

We can still win

Ron Paul's joint press conference stopped short of a winning strategy. If the Constitution Party, Libertarian party, and Ron Paul Republicans continue to each work alone, the pro-liberty forces will definitely lose the election.

However, if they immediately come together and form a single Liberty Party, while we might not win the presidency this time, we can certainly become a major force in American politics. These three organizations agree on 90% of the issues.

Imagine this. By merging the Constitution and Libertarian parties both immediately double in size. Add in Ron Paul's tens of thousands of activists and million+ supporters, and you instantly have a force to be reckoned with.

In most states the parties are allowed to substitute Ron Paul's name if their previously chosen candidate withdraws. We put up Paul/Baldwin or Paul/Barr slate, and most Americans will have a real choice.

Further, this will get major headlines. This story is too huge to ignore. People will finally know there is an alternative worth voting for.

See www.libertyparty.org for details.

We Agree

I have been emailing this statement to all of the candidates running here in KS and asking for a response to each issue listed in order to help me make an informed decision the election. I haven't heard back yet but will report back.

Everybody should do the same.

If it's meant to be it's up to WE!

No more Bob Barr

Michael, this is crap and must be removed

Ron Paul would not do this to any candidate.
I will continue my support and vote for the LP nominee.
I support the 4 principles of agreement among third party candidates.
Bob Barr has done nothing to cantradict the agreement.
Of course it would have been nice to have him join the press conference, but he did nothing to disrupt the content and intent of the candidates and Ron Paul.
Bob Barr is my choice by political expediency.
He has done nothing to harm pong32 or any other party or candidate.
This petition is more damaging and mean spirited than even McCain and Obama.
Michael, you must stop this now. These newbies are trying my patience, and you know that I was one of the first to join Daily Paul, as well as being one of the earliest supporters of Ron Paul.
pong32, or whatever his real name is, has contaminated this forum with knee-jerk vitreol.
From this point on, I consider anyone, who beleagers this ridiculous rant against my candidate, as a cop or mole. There is no whining in politics.
Get your heads out of your asses.

I agree, Ron Paul would

never do this to another candidate. Chuck Baldwin is my candidate. :)

gigione

I really hope...

...that these four will see what's going on here - and what's at stake - and unify behind one banner. They can bring a lot of supporters with them and we can add a whole lot more over the coming months.

Yes - votes will be taken away from McBama as things stand, but unless they're funnelled towards one candidate (my personal vote would be for Chuck Baldwin and the Constitution Party) then we'll still end up with either douchebag number 1 or douchebag number 2 in the Oval office.

Yes - this will all be great for 2012 as we'll be able to make headway towards levelling the playing field in the interim years - but I seriously worry how much country will be left to salvage once the next election rolls around.

=========================
Live Free or Die - Amen to that

you miss the point entirely

It is almost a guarantee that a giant douche or a turd sandwich (South Park reference anyone?) will be the next president. The point that RP was trying to make is that all of the voters out there who are not passionate in their support for McBama should vote for a 3rd party candidate. EVEN IF THIS VOTE IS SPREAD AMONGST ALL THE CANDIDATES AND IT IS DILUTED, the total number of votes going to someone who is not a Republicrat or Demoblican is the only thing that will cause the establishment to wake up to the fact that we have figured out the charade. They will be forced to change the rules of the game for future elections for fear of losing all their power. This election cycle is going to be all about educating the "average clueless voter" as to how this country really works and about sending a message to the scum who run things behind the scene. By forcing the voters out there to recognize that these two parties/candidates are both the same (and hence it doesn't matter which one wins) then they will feel free to vote for a candidate outside the establishment. For the first time ever they will not be wasting their vote. even though a third party candidate (probably) won't win, all the votes for these various candidates will be a very powerful message.

$$$$$$$

This will take money, but I believe this could be done.

Be the Miracle!

BoBarr's Motivation Should Be Questioned

RP's announcement signals that he doesn't EVER believe that the Republican party can be positively changed from the inside. I don't think BoBarr is there with RP on this. BoBarr doesn't really understand what RP is trying to accomplish. This agreement on four principles is very important and signifies a fundamental shift toward unity. If BoBarr doesn't want to be a part of that movement, then it is fair to question his motivations for running for President in the first place.

The closer the Republicans and the Democrats are on policy, the easier it would be to simply form an "opposition" party; if for nothing else, to inject REAL issues into the debate for the Presidency. That is what is going on here. BoBarr either just doesn't get it, or he has furtive intentions.

So this statement was a bit

So this statement was a bit disappointing, and didn't really accomplish much. Will anybody even remember or notice that this event even took place?

The ball is in our court, so what do we do now?

Actually

I thought it was quite powerful. All of the candidates were remarkably well spoken. The entire thing was replayed on C-Span last night, and several of the candidates were interviewed on major networks subsequently. Yesterday and this a.m. we saw a number of MSM articles to boot. It's bringing the bedrock issues a little more to the fore and holding the media's feet to the fire for its various shortcomings. A success, in my view!

someone clarify.... did Bob

someone clarify.... did Bob Barr not agree to this by not attending the press conference? Or is his name just not included because of his dickish actions today.....

because if that's the case, even though he was kind of an ass, that's no reason to exclude him if his beliefs are still the same.

Bob Barr does agree

Bob Barr does agree with the four points, he said so almost dismissively at his press conference. I believe he did not attend Paul's conference because he was pissed that Paul would not endorse him.
I might be a newbie here, but I have been a member of the LP since 1980. I have supported Paul for over 20 years.
Barr made a bad mistake. It's up to him and maybe Paul to rectify it.
If they want to.

ecorob's picture

it doesn't matter which third party candidate you vote for...

just so long as you vote against the duopoly of the dems and gop...so there it is...everybody votes third party and let the chips fall where they may...oruval, i yield the floor to you

Rockin' the FREE world in Tennessee since 1957!
9/11 Truth.

I'm so excited

This is exactly what I was hoping Ron Paul was going to announce.

These four points are the most important issues we must focus on.

We have the Greens, Constitutionists, Ron Paul supporters, and
the Independents together.

I believe Barr is on the wrong side of the Libertarian Party. The
Koch brothers Energy Corp./Cato Institute/Neocon faction.

Michael, was Dennis Kucinich asked to join on these four points?

Thanks Ron Paul and staff for bringing us all together.

THESE POINTS

And the agreement of the THIRD party candidates to them, AS OPPOSED to the TWO party candidates, is what was important about today. The point is that the MAJOR party candidates do NOT agree to these crucial points! And THESE are things that MOST Americans agree on. So the populace is not being given a true choice! Maybe Dr. Paul opened a few eyes today to what our elections SHOULD be about!

Four points made for millions to absorb

I like the shortness very much.
Even people not reading much can absorb it, like these dissatified Millions of people who are part of the 37 Mio. (only 1 Mio less than the people watching Obama's DNC-speech) watching VP-candidate Palin's RNC speech.

all the reasons why I

all the reasons why I support Dr Paul ......plus abolish the IRS

I clicked thru all the news channels & C-SPAN

starting at 7am. I saw NOTHING about this news conference for the 2 hrs that I surfed. All I saw was: Hurricane Ike, the two people rescued at sea, Obama talking about his "Lipstick on a pig" statement (& the full of pig shit ad that McInsane immediately put out about it) & Palin at a rally. There was zip about Ron Paul. When I saw Palin speaking, McInsane was standing slightly behind her, with his wife Cindy behind him. To me, he looked like a pimp with his ho's. All he needed was a diamond in his tooth. He's so proud of Palin; she's bringing the votes/money home to her daddy. I'm thinking Hillary is in her mansion wishing she had only taken up arms against Bill when he two-timed her with a hussy. "Why didn't I just get out there on the White House lawn with a 30.06 & show the world how good I look with a gun in my hand!"
