Congratulations to the RNC...Submitted by hawkiye on Wed, 09/10/2008 - 11:07
Congratulations to the RNC on their victory. They have effectively divided and conquered the Ron Paul supporters and made it look easy. It took twenty years for this movement to educate enough people to see it culminate into the movement we see today but it is still not enough. At its current rate it will be another ten or twenty years before it grows and permeates enough minds to really have a chance to effect change. However we may not have that kind of time to wait. Our only hope is the coming storms might wake up enough people for us to effect real change but we might not like the change that brings.
First let me say to all the brave patriots who have worked their tails off, became PCP’s delegates, and ran for office etc. etc., who did all they could thank you and God bless you for all you have done and will do for freedom! Your hard work and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed!
Now let’s get down to the bottom line. It’s not all the RNC’s fault we got our asses handed to us, it’s mostly our fault. We had about 1.2 million people vote for Ron Paul in the primaries, however if I remember correctly we had about 18000 precinct leaders. That’s less then 2 percent of supporters who were willing to do more then vote, wave a sign and donate a few dollars. And people wonder why we got our asses handed to us.
It’s simple math we simply do not have enough people willing to do the hard work it takes to really effect change. Anyone who was involved in a meetup group who worked their tails off knows that only a few did the heavy lifting while the rest were mostly just along for the ride. You know who you are.
Now many of these same people are the ones bailing out and claiming we should go to a 3rd party or start a new party. I would have no problem doing something like that if I thought people would focus and unite and do the work it takes. However why in the world should we have any confidence in that working when the vast majority of Ron Paul supporters failed to step up in our hour of need?
That’s right it’s our fault and specifically the fault of those who did not step up when they knew they should. They left it to others and many are now giving a myriad of excuses and blaming it all on the RNC corruption etc when the majority of the blame lies with their failure to do what they knew they should have done. Sadly some who did the hard work are buying into this also.
Also to those who are leaving the Republican Party on principle; I guess you feel Ron Paul has compromised his principles? Since he of course knows we do not have the numbers needed to effect change outside the party he saw our only chance with the few activist who did step up was to work inside the party taking over key positions locally and then eventually on a national level.
Yet I hear a symphony of voices claiming they know a better way. Well you have no credibility because you could not be counted on when the going got tough. If you have a better way why are you not setting the example and doing something about it instead of just talking about it on the internet?
We also have those waiting around for a hot or physical revolution. Believe me I understand that sentiment however you are completely naive and clueless to have any desire for that. As the old saying goes be careful what you wish for you just might get it.
It might come down to that some day however it should be an absolute last resort. It will not be the romantic ideal many have of fighting for freedom. It will be the worst nightmare this country has ever seen and will make us more vulnerable then ever to outside attack or even an internal dictatorship. There is no guarantee we would win.
Just ask any combat vet who has seen a war torn country if he thinks a civil war is a good idea? I also have my doubts that enough people will step up if it ever comes to that. I know there are some who will but again I have my doubts as to whether it will be enough. People can talk of taking up arms but that can’t get their asses to a central committee meeting because it is to unpleasant for them….Sigh give me a break!
I am now wondering why I should waste my time anymore when not enough people will step up and do the hard work it will take. I will continue to try and educate but I will probably spend more time preparing for the inevitable. I hope I am wrong but until I see some real unity and willingness to step up by more people I have to put my time were it is most effective.
I am sure I’ll get flamed for this post however I bet it will be mostly those who are stung by it because it hit home and they know it. Flame away but please don’t “tell” me how we can do it. “Show” me you have credibility with your track record and your current action… Oh and show me how we overcome our lack of numbers willing to do the hard work?
