Baldwin's relationship to Falwell?

0 votes

I've been thinking, if I HAVE to vote for someone aside from Dr. Paul, I MIGHT vote Baldwin but today he mentioned Falwell whos fundamentalism left a very bad taste in my mouth. Anyone care to address this or point me in the direction of some good information?

Baldwin is no Paul...

...his followers seem to have a lot of libertarian-minded (small l) folks swayed who are desperate for a new candidate.

My advice, read the CP's platform for as long as you can without laughing:

http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php#Preamble

I get about 2 paragraphs in before I realize that "Constitution Party" is to constitution in about the same way "Libertarian Party" is to "libertarianism".

Do you mind being specific?

Which subjects or specific sentences in the CP platform do you find amusing?

hey Disa

you ask in one of your comments what religious language is in the CP platform...you can read it for yourself on their website, but it starts with a prologue which acknowledges God and, i believe, our Lord Jesus Christ. There is no question that it is a party founded by Christians-but Chuck Baldwin's respect for the Establishment Clause is profound. There is a youtube where he addresses concerns over his religious beliefs and how he would govern...well worth the five minuutes it takes to watch!!

Thanks, I will pull up the CP platform and take a look at it. I'm toying with the idea of joining the CP myself, so I've been meaning to and I just haven't had a moment to yet.

Here's a link

to a fairly recent Chuck Baldwin article, in which he speaks about the "evangelical vote and leaders", and clearly states his opposition to Jerry Falwell' positions on various subjects, including the subject of Ron Paul.
While CB did have association with Jerry Falwell's groups as a young man, he clearly has different opinions now, although he holds no animosity toward Falwell.
It's an interesting article, which shows Chuck's ability to differ in opinion, yet not let it beget hate in his life.

ooOo...

Thanks for the linkage!

Chuck does understand that in office you do not

trample on the rights of how others believe. He does understand the seperation of church and state. I've heard him address it. The CP has religious language in their platform which in America is smart most people in this nation are religous. He understand the same liberties that protect a non believer protect the believer.

TY

true_believer, 10 points for another great answer!

He also understands that

He also understands that while he might be against something (or think it is wrong), that in most issues the federal government does not have the authority to address it.

Wonderful clip!

I'll browse CBs channel more when I get some down time. : )

Ya

here we go again Majoring on the Minors....

how about a one who speaks up against the NWO
the UN
the NAU
The Only one who is strict on border security and all dealings related.

The Only guy (or gal) running - that supported Ron Paul on the
Campaign Trail ....

There are far bigger fish to fry in 2008
than running a platform on soleing family issues and things related
(they deffinately have their place of importance)
BUT not as great as the Soverignty of our Nation and NON - Intervention
Foreign Policy and Sound Money .... The Major Issues!

I am glad Baldwin is a Christian - but if he stood up for what he is
standing up for and spoke with conviction like he has
and he was some other faith background
I would still vote for him and support him - (since Ron Paul is no longer
running)

I mean no

disrespect or division. I was only asking a question. IMHO there is a big difference between fundamentalism and religion. Please don't forget I DID vote and was a delegate to my CD for our good Doctor. : )

That's Cool

I am sorry if you misunderstood the tone of my typing... (ha)
a small problem with email - I didn't mean to come off brash -
thank you for all you've done!

Restore the Constitution!

lol!

No worries, and thank you! : )

A vote to restore the republic and oust NWO/CFR traitors

As a socially tolerant Constitutionalist, I have absolutely no problem in supporting Chuck Baldwin. I am not evangelical, or even share his particular Christian beliefs. The mere fact that this man is passionately supporting the Declaration of Independence, our Constitution and Bill of Rights, limits him philosophically from any concern of theocratic biases if he were to become president. He can be Christian all he wants and that does not bother me. Like Ron Paul, Chuck believes each State must decide controversial and educational laws not the Federal government.

I see a vote for Chuck Baldwin is a vote to restore our republic and democratic process and clean out our body politic of these NWO/CFR traitorous vermin that control both major parties.

Thank you,

Anisha, for your perfectly logical and rational response... that was exactly what I was looking for.

Remember....

Church Views and State Views.....

two different things.....You know Baldwin is a minister, however, he is a true patriot and was 100% behind Dr. Paul. I think he is the only choice now that Ron Paul is no longer running.

Tolerance is the virtue of the man who no longer has anything to believe in....

I believe...

I believe that most of the reasons that people won't vote for Baldwin could be overcome if they realize that there is a BIG difference in what he thinks is wrong (homosexual marriage as an example) and what he knows* he can constitutionally do about it (nothing - it's a state issue).

I posted a topic about that today...

But I was censored and the topic was deleted.

I AGREE

Hmm...

I hope this one isn't deleted too...

I feel the exact same. I am

I feel the exact same. I am no Christian, but I trust Baldwin to do the best for the country. It is too bad I can not join the CP because of their religious leanings, but I can vote for Chuck.

in the end Crickett that is

in the end Crickett that is all that matters... as a Christian I would vote for an atheist if he was going to follow the constitution to the letter.. good observation...... DO WHATS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY! in the end that is all that matters... not what God you worship or don't!

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

God is for church houses

laws are for goverment
freedom is for people

Please elaborate...

I'm still new to all this so pardon my ignorance, what religious leanings does the CP adhere to? I'm not Christian either but I'm open and respectful to other beliefs and I expect the same.

The good thing about Baldwin...

no matter what his personal beliefs are, he will follow the constitution.

VOTE CHUCK BALDWIN

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

Fair point...

His talking points on the constitution are what got me in the first place. Thank you for responding. : )
