Ironically, by transferring the risk of a widespread mortgage default, the government increases the likelihood of a painful crash in the housing market. This is because the special privileges of Fannie, Freddie, and HLBB have distorted the housing market by allowing them to attract capital they could not attract under pure market conditions. As a result, capital is diverted from its most productive use into housing. This reduces the efficacy of the entire market and thus reduces the standard of living of all Americans.

Mr. Speaker, it is time for Congress to act to remove taxpayer support from the housing GSEs before the bubble bursts and taxpayers are once again forced to bail out investors misled by foolish government interference in the market. I therefore hope my colleagues will stand up for American taxpayers and investors by cosponsoring the Free Housing Market Enhancement Act.

I watching and waiting for Ron, but GB is such a tool.

He says that Obama really was talking about Palin with the "lipstick on a pig" remark.

What a load of crap.

There's plenty of real reasons to oppose Obama without falling for the McCain talking points.

I was skeptical about Beck

I was skeptical about Beck and there is definitely a sensationalistic edge about him, but I like him well enough now. I think in the past few interviews with RP he has deferred to RPs wisdom on the economy and is now treating him like an economic seer. I liked all the questions he asked in this interview -they were relevant and interesting.

I have noticed this quite often and have not figured it out.

It is definitely not a time zone issue from what I have gathered.

I think it comes down to this:

I think the OP is coded differently than the replies.

If I were to guess, the replies pull the time and date off a central server, and the OP pulls its date from a separate location.
