I am still fuming over George Stephanopoulos’s comment at the end of an otherwise excellent interview. “That's not going to happen,” he stated flatly to Ron Paul's assertion that he could win.

Excuse me, but who is it that anointed Mr. Stephanopoulos’s as the arbiter of who can and cannot win the US Presidential election? Don’t forget that “they” said the same thing about his old boss, Bill Clinton back in 1991.

The days of the mainstream media (MSM) dictating to the American people who can and cannot be elected are over. John McCain was once an MSM darling, one of the media’s anointed “Big Three,” but in the final end it didn’t help him one bit. The people are smarter than that.

As I’ve said many times, more important than money, Ron Paul has the genuine support of the people who will ultimately cast the votes. That kind of support cannot be bought, and more importantly, it cannot be sold. Even if Rudy Romneyson go on to spend hundreds of millions of dollars advertising their muddled neo-con messages in the MSM, they're going to find it very difficult to compete with the simple, quiet message of liberty and freedom.

The MSM has got a problem on its hands: Dr. Paul has caught many people’s attention during the televised debates. As people find out about Dr. Paul, they cannot help but like what they hear. They do research on the internet and they learn that this man is the genuine article – perhaps the last American statesman. Their faith in politics is renewed and they become loyal supporters.

The other candidates cannot criticize him, because it only draws more attention to him. Look what happened when the G-man (Giulianni) tried to attack him at the debate. It backfired and worked to Dr. Paul’s advantage.

They cannot ignore him. Look what happened when they tried to exclude him from the Iowa Fair Tax Forum. He had an even bigger rally with even more supporters!

I think something similar is going to happen this time, as the MSM brings out its guns to criticize him. When George Stephanopoulos made that biased, lowball and inexcusable comment at the end of his interview, he didn’t realize that it too would backfire.

That's the way things go in this campaign. It only serves to motivate us more. As I’ve said elsewhere, Ron Paul supporters are the kind of people who, when told they can't do something, only become more determined to see it through!

Which brings me to the point of this little post. I know that some of you out there haven’t yet changed your party affiliation to Republican. You have every intention of doing that so you can vote for Dr. Paul in your state’s primary, but you just haven’t gotten around to it. The reason I know this is because I was one you…until today.

Today, motivated by Steph’s snide comment, I realized I had to take action. I used this great site to drill down to my State election official’s website, and get the information. As it turns out for Massachusetts, I don’t have to be registered as a Republican, I only have to ask for a Republican ballot. You might be that lucky as well, but please take the time now to find out. Registration deadlines are approaching.

It is perfectly fine to get mad. I’m mad as hell. But let’s channel that anger into something positive. Let's get even, by showing that Ron Paul can – and will – win. Time is running – take the time to find out what you need to do to vote in your state’s upcoming primary.

Thank you for your support!

Each State has different election laws

The only Party I ever belonged was the Libertarian Party, which I joined in 1976. I changed to Non Partisian (No Party) in 1992 and have remained NP since. This has not prevented me from voting in the primaries. From the CA Secretary's web page on primary elections:

Primary Elections
Once you arrive at your neighborhood polling place, a pollworker will give you the party ballot for the party you registered with (each is designated by a different color). This ballot must be voted in the booth containing the ballot choices for that party. Each non-partisan voter receives a non-partisan (NP) ballot. If a non-partisan voter chooses to cast votes for a political party that allows “cross over voting,” he or she will vote in the booth for that political party.

Democrat and Republican parties have always allowed NP voters to participate, third parties usually do not. I suggest voters check their own state laws. Ron Paul is THE EXCEPTION in the GOP, and that's enough for him to get my support and vote, but there's not enough like him to make me change from NP to GOP. Frankly, I believe being NP and voting for RP gives the GOP and Washington a very clear message. Enough of this duopoly!

Well said Michael Nystrom

I'm totally behind you on this issue and am trying to start an easy web page of the requirements for each state here: http://www.billstclair.com/RonPaul/voter_registration.shtml

It is very incomplete at the moment but if you look up your state please comment in this thread with the information (requirements detailed on the link above) and site your sources. With a little help we should have a complete listing soon.

Great story about Ron Paul at...........

There's a video along with the story also.

Be sure to vote in the poll next to the article.

Dr. No was winning with about 34% when I voted.

Here's the results page:

Couldn't agree with you more

I was riding high on the Sunday morning interview until George made that bold, blunt, negative statement. Even Paul seemed to get a little deflated by George's insistence (GS would even bet all the money he had on that!).

I can see the tough part is starting. It's one thing to have naysayers when you don't have the money or turnout of supporters to prove your popularity. But when the MSM continues to take this stance in the face of reality, it is disheartening.

For once, can't the good guy win? (and I already changed party affiliation to Republican a couple of months ago).

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you..."

But now they are defending him against other MSM talking heads.

We need to write joe@msnbc.com just as many letters of praise as we would write to the hopeless AP about their erroneous articles for which there is no followup.

This interview was nothing but the best. There was no contempt, only enthusiasm, the same enthusiasm that has been shown by all of you in your support for Ron. Only this time millions of people could be influenced by it.

I have asked that people upload videos such as the Iowa one to FOX news at uReport. http://www.foxnews.com/studiob/ureport/index.html

Also, if GS knows something about who can and cannot win in that the elections are predetermined then this means the fix is in, and this should be a huge scandal.

GS is a member of the CFR and they are the real rulers of the world, not our congress and not our people. But, we can change that.

Remember, at this point in the election it's about name recognition. 90% of all people who hear Ron's message love Ron, so it's up to us to get that message out there!

Writes Justin Ptak: "At this point in the cycle, national polls are entirely a reflection of name identification, not voters' views of the candidates.

"In early 1975, Carter was polling at 1% (he went on to win the Presidency).

"In early 1987, Dukakis was polling at 1% (he went on to win the Democratic nomination).

"In early 1991, Clinton was at 2% (he went on to win the Presidency).

"In the spring of 1999, John McCain was polling at 3% (he went on to win the NH primary).

"In early 2003, Joe Lieberman was leading the field for the Democratic presidential nomination (he failed to win any primary)."

Tucker Carlson

I'm as displeased with Stephie's smug remarks as the next guy. We the People will show him how wrong he is. I will enjoy watching as his Neocon fantasies crumble away under the benevolent leadership of Dr. Know.

I saw this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqk0r3CVEq8&NR=1

by chance just now and I'm wondering: is Tucker Carlson of a libertarian mindset? He talked in a serious way about the Democratic candidates being Neocons (which most of the heads-in-the-sand mainstream considers on the level of a nut-job conspiracy theory) and stuff like that and he didn't treat Dr. Know with any disrespect whatsoever. Or is he just a fair interviewer?

Oh, and I have not yet registered as a Republican, but I will soon. I don't have to because Missouri is an open primary state, but I want to be called by pollsters and other things to do with the campaign. Thanks for the reminder, Micheal. :)

Tucker Carlson is a self-proclaimed

Libertarian. I heard him state that on more than one occasion on his old late-night show.

Nuts

George Stephanopoulos may think the way he does as is his right, however, we Paul supporters need to show him what we think. So, I'm asking for someone to find the mailing address to his show so that I and others can mail a bag of peanuts with a Ron Paul flyer to him so that I can show him what I really think of his suggestive comments.

Thats my idea. Real simple and could be affective if we all do it.

Speaking of praying...

Listen to this song by our friend the stranger:

http://www.dailypaul.com/...

He's a poet. This is the last verse:

Parchment empowered, the many make one
Echoes a Latin refrain.
Pray for the last American Statesman
And all on board this Hell-bound Train...

Also, regarding the need to register as a Republican, this is a most useful site. You can find the requirements for your state at a glance:

http://www.thegreenpapers...

Thank you all for the support and the encouragement. We can win!

Michael

Learn about your state's primaries

Learn what needs to be done in your state. In Ohio, it is an open primary as well and you do not need to be registered to vote as a Republican (in fact, by law you can not be). You just need to be registered to vote. I find this extremely useful when talking to someone that likes what Ron says but then replies "well, I'm not registered as a Republican" and I can say "you don't have to be!".

Different states have different requirements for primaries, so learn what yours is and act on it. Remember that the current fight isn't to make Ron Paul the President. It's to get him on the ballot in the first place. I'm sure there are tons of people like me that have never seen a reason to vote in the primaries and ignore them. Let's make sure people realize this is an important vote this upcoming year.

Joe said even more than

"Joe said something to the effect that he really liked and admired Ron."

Joe said even more than that. :D He said, "We've got the next president of the United States on the phone."

The interview is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_y79uDkcPI&feature=PlayList&...

Thanks for the prodding. I'll do that.

Some bloggers have mentioned their confidence that Ron Paul's campaign will be fiscally responsible, etc. That's good, but I hope his campaign is not shy about spending money for TV commercials in key areas. I think there is a sizeable block of people who still only get the TV. I think he needs to win in some of the early primaries to gain name recognition with the TV watchers in the remaining states.

A new Ron Paul supporter is worth much more than a new supporter for the other side, so maybe Ron Paul's strategy should be a little different. Since his supporters start up on their own, like an engine once it's running, it may be beneficial for his campaign to get quick exposure among TV watchers so that they, in turn, have time to go out and work for the cause.

Just a thought.

"That's not gonna happen..." - Stephanopolous

.
Mr. Nystrom is correct; registering as a Republican is essential. Without our votes, Dr. Paul hasn't a prayer.

Re: George Stephanopolous, as I posted earlier:

There was an eerie sense of smugness when George Stephanopolous uttered, "That's not gonna happen," in response to Dr. Paul's saying his goal was "to win."

George Stephanopolous may have some nasty inside information that he's not willing to share with us civilians, but I have no doubt he's well-connected to the power elite, and he knows things we do not know

To the Washington establishment, the global elite, the Bilderburg Group (George Stephanopolous is a member), the CFR, and those packing financial heat, Ron Paul is a threat. He is a threat because, if elected, the globalists' plans for a one world government, a North American Union, everyone being "chipped", etc., would fizzle like an old sparkler. The globalists will simply not allow it, and will result to any means to achieve their goals. They have the money, power and the guns. Worse, they have the power and ability to falsify election returns.

But they do not have the people; and that is one asset that Ron Paul has, and which is growing significantly. I think we will witness, in the coming months, Dr. Paul's numbers increasing as ordinary citizens wake up to his message of freedom. This will present an even greater problem for the NWO/CFR gang, and there is likely to be some kind of showdown.

That is why it is so important to pray for Dr. Paul's safety, and to get more people on board to support his campaign. The state of our Republic is more precarious than ever, and it was George Stephanopolous's glib, matter-of-fact statement, "That's not gonna happen," that gave me chills. Friends, we must not let that stand.

Something that Ron said in a recent interview or speech

He said something to the effect that he didn't know if there was anybody else that cared about the freedom message, after the old timers who remembered what it was like, were gone. Which is part of the reason he is running. He further said that to his surprise people were interested in the message of freedom indeed young people and a great many are interested and that was a great thing and he didn't need to worry ( i paraphrase )

so we need to always keep that in mind and never let those traitorous organizations pervert our government. We love America , we love liberty and we love the constitution that secures that for us. we must always be willing to confront those who would try to destroy that. I know i will.

inspiring

as always a very uplifting article manystrom.
also, does anyone have a transcript or video of ron on morning joe? i don't usually watch that since there's so much fluff, but i'm really glad that scarborough came to ron's defense.

Even in open primary states....

Registering as a Republican is more valuable than just the ability to vote in the primary. Only registered Republicans have any chance of being polled during the primary season. Nobody seems to want to know what independents think.
Also, if we can point to growing numbers of registered Republicans, we will be better equipped to argue that Ron Paul is good for the party in the general election.

One more step: Find your local Republican party group and fill it with Paul supporters. It's harder to dismiss a candidate with supporters right there in the room everywhere the GOP meets. If we become part of their organization, we go from outsiders to internal reformers. We can expect some hostility, but, I'll bet, not from everyone. If we keep our cool and pitch in on efforts to register voters, etc., we can win many of the current rank and file over.

If we want to beat the neocons, joining the GOP is our best option at this time.

Ron Paul by telephone on "morning joe" today - msnbc

great show and Joe Scarborough really gave Ron a bump and got on george snufflufugus for his comment. Joe said something to the effect that he really liked and admired Ron.

Pray and DONATE. Pray

Pray and DONATE. Pray because you remember what happened to JFK. DONATE because we have to pay the MSM for TV time.

Yesterday ABC today MSNBC, we're starting to see a few chunks fall out of the wall the MSM has built between Dr. Paul and the People. Keep spreading the message folks we're gaining some MOMENTUM!
