Ron Paul Nation to Bob Barr : "You Just Don't Get It" and "A Lesson in Blowback".

Sorry Bob....
The Ron Paul Nation was willing to look past your terrible Neocon voting record. We were willing (alot of us) to vote for you because your rhetoric was backing up Ron Paul. But alas you can preach about Liberty all you want, cause you still don't get it. The point of the news conference was to point out to the American people that the election system was horribly flawed and that the two party system was essentially one. Ron Paul was trying to bring the 3rd party candidates to stand united about these things even though they have many idealogical differences. Here was a press conference that would help shed light on this dark situation...you even had an opportunity to speak to a wider audience....and you bailed because you didn't want to dilute your candidacy? Ron Paul was not endorsing socialists, theocrats, or liberitarianism; as usual he was endorsing freedom and not tyranny. You missed the whole point and came off as a backstabber and someone who is not dependable. Your excuse and actions are lame at best and what was the benefit/cost ratio?

- most likely it cost the Liberatarian party at least a million votes.
- most likley puts your party back in a negative light among the powerful RP Nation funding resource.
- you lost credibility and reliability among millions of conservatives
- and what effect do you think it will have on Ron Paul's opinion of you?
- Think your name will come up more in his interviews and speeches...I doubt it.

We call it blowback and it shows that hasty decisions are usually bad decisions.

You made a bad political move...blowback is a bitch...trust us..

Federalist Party

It's been on the shelf for a couple of centuries. Time to dust off a classic?

In the meantime:

If you live in Oklahoma, you have no choice. Write-in Ron Paul.

If you live in Montana or Louisiana, rejoice! You get to vote for Ron Paul!

If you live in New Hampshire, please vote for George Phillies (the other Libertarian).

If you live in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, The Dakotas, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or Wyoming vote for Chuck Baldwin.

If you live in Arizona, California, The District of Columbia, Kansas, or Maine, you have my condolences. You may as well vote for Cynthia McKinney or Bob Barr.

If you live in Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Texas, you have my deepest condolences. You’re stuck with Ralph Nader or Bob Barr. Sorry.

If you can’t abide my recommendations, then, your State permitting, you could write in Ron Paul, your mom, your dog, or even Bob Barr.

But never Never NEVER vote for McBama!

This decision is rather painful for me, as it will be the first Presidential election for me (since 1976) in which I will not be voting for the Libertarian. It looks as though the Barr Campaign has burned that bridge, and it likely won’t be rebuilt until at least 2010.

For all our talk of supporting Dr Paul and being strict Constitutionalists, why don’t we read the Constitution and realize that Dr Paul can be elected President without appearing on a single State ballot?

Forum Post# 60678

Your analysis/strategy was brilliant, I'd like to share it ~ where did it go? Thank you.

RE: Federalist Fusion Alliance; Article 2, Section 1 ~" Ron Paul can be elected President of the united States without appearing on a single State ballot. The People of the united States do not elect their President, Electors do."

Think 2010 is soon enough to have the bridge built?

Since we all have heard the analogy, how hard will it be to round up cats while Barr throws grenades at them.

Liberterians Unite!

I have to say, great post. From the beginning, I had my suspicions about the CIA asset, drug warrior, Patriot Actor known as Barr and his hostile takeover of the LP. Even before now, his campaign has been bad. His sudden 180-degree capitulation to Al Gore and the climate change cult was to me as bizarre as it was awful. I have become increasingly suspicious that the takeover of the LP by Barr and the neocon WARoot is a deliberate act by the controlling elites to skew whatever influence the r3VOLution may have had on the election, and also to hurt the LP and the freedom movement in general. I am convinced that if the LP could have nominated a decent individual who is a real, credible libertarian (Mary Ruwart, Michael Badnarik, etc.), they would automatically have gotten more way more votes than in any past election. The reason for this is the massive, unprecedented effect the Ron Paul campaign has had in spreading awareness of libertarian philosophy and rallying people around the cause of freedom. Again, I think it is no accident that the LP was targeted, as this is the party that most closely reflects the ideas that the RP campaign was centered around.

To further illustrate my point about the r3VOLution bringing unprecedented togetherness, consider that libertarians (LP people especially) are a group that is known for internal disagreements. Early in the campaign, I took part in a survey of about 1200 self-identified liberterians. One of the most interesting results was that 70% of people who identified themselves as members of the LP said that they would be voting for Ron Paul, no matter what.

The current situation with Barr reminds me ALOT of some of Rockwell's recent remarks about Bill Buckley and the Goldwater campaign. You may want to take a few minutes to listen:

Also, here is a link for a petition to deBarr the LP (LOL)

By the way, regardless of whatever effect it has, I thought that RP's press conference was one of the most profound and courageous things I have seen him do. Can you imagine ANY elected Republican or Democrat member of congress saying those things in public, let alone convening a press conference expressly for that purpose?

Um, who are you to speak for any of us?

I'll start off by saying I'm very disappointed in Bob Barr. I hadn't decided who I'm voting for, but Barr was being considered. I'm less likely to vote for Barr after his ego-trip yesterday.

But you have no business acting as a spokesman for the "Ron Paul Nation." You are you. Speak for yourself. Don't speak for others, particularly by making blanket statements about a diverse group.

You mean I wasn't elected to speak for all of us....duh. It's a title to a post to a comment. If I offended you because you thought I was acting as a spokesman for this movement then....well...sorry you took it that way. It was more of a feeling I have gotten from reading post after post about this situation. Guess you didn't get it. Thanks for correcting me...cause I think it must have been confusing to everyone in the Nation......or not.

"ORLY" ?

Gee, really?

Rhetorical device or not, it's inappropriate. It's not just your title. Multiple times in the post you refer to the movement collectively and tacitly represent your views as the vox populi of the movement.

Your "I apologize for you interpreting it in that way" deflection is bogus, too. It's not an "interpretation." It's a plain reading of your post. Remove all the collective references (or replace them with "I think the Ron Paul Nation feels..." , etc.

wanna vote on if it is inappropriate?

lighten up...

Attention Ron Paul Nation! I do not speak for any of you! I realize in any opinion I should have in the future that I do not speak for the Vox Populi of the movement. Because it is so disrespectful to all of you....i apologize!

Forgive me of my inappropriateness and sarcasm.

That is fine that you think it is inappropriate, but I ask you the same question you asked him. Who made you the final arbiter of what is or is not appropriate?

Was Leaning Baldwin's Way

I was leaning toward Baldwin anyway because of Barr's statements about the war in Iraq and the war on terror. Now, I think I may actually throw some money Baldwin's way on the 20th.

I think Barr is trying to "mainstream" himself, but instead continues to alienate what would otherwise be his most energized supporters.

Yeah- I was going to vote for Bob Barr this election-

I have to say- I've been willing (and planning) to vote for Bob Barr for a while now, but 'this' doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

This is about saving our Republic NOT about one person's 'ego'. I'm not sure WHY people believed that 'this' was as though it was about Ron Paul. Ron Paul was simply doing what he promised to do, which was advance Liberty, and by TRYING to get people to recognize the strangle hold the two party system has...

IF Bob Barr had shown up I would have still voted for him, and helped promote him- BUT this type of 'pettiness' is EXACTLY what we don't need.

And the Truth Shall Set you Free...

I feel ya!!!

Bob Barf

Was just another case of a wolf hiding in sheep's clothing. We should be glad that he has been exposed lest someone should have actually voted for him.

RP supporters were his only chance and he blew it, there are probably few who even know who Bob Barr is except third party stalwarts and ron paul supporters

Yes, I agree

Sunset Barr

I couldn't have been happier yesterday when NeoBarr made his self indulgent mistakes, but then it only got better when I began to read all the forums and it seemed unanimous, the neocon Bob Bar could no longer be supported by liberty loving Americans. Then this hit the fan:

Wow, I couldn't believe it, I hope this just added the final nails to his pro-Bush/war political coffin, I can't believe how many misquotes and misrepresentations of Ron Paul there are in this, and how tightly they filtered the comments. To call liberty loving supporters cultists, who believe in a man with 30+ years of serving his country, who has stood up to Washington on the side of the people and our Constitution, who have, with Paul, advanced the cause of Liberty further than the now-pro-war Libertarian party ever did, is telling.

I'm so proud of Ron Paul's fervent rejection of the demands by the McCain camp after reading of the enormous pressure put on our Delegates at the RNC. I imagine there was a good deal of strong words and pressure from Bob Barr for Ron Paul to give him sole support.

To liberty I cheer, to Barr I say good bye.

REP Freedom Force

I think your right...

It now seems likely that Barr just wanted Ron Paul's supporters. I think the pressure you mention didn't work and he tried to make Dr. Paul pay for it. Anyone who says that skipping the press conference then asking Ron Paul to be his VP, was not a slap in the face is ignorant; coupled with the fact that Ron had already been asked to be the Lib. Pres. candidate for this year, confirms Barrs arrogance and politician pride.

This is simply an

This is simply an outstanding post. Rather than start yet another party, though, I would prefer they just ALL drop the labels, agree on the important stuff, tolerate each other's views on the rest and just be the THE REST OF US, the Republican party, and the Democrat party.

Vote third Party. Any one will do! Make a HUGE statement and unite us yet further.

Well said, Bravo Storm!

Now let's put this Barr bull to bed and get back to the more important work at hand.

Barr's revenge

I've had to start wondering if Barr's running as a Libertarian and making a mess of it is nothing but an attempt for revenge against the LP for costing him his seat in the House. (And what's that phrase, "Once CIA, always CIA"?)

Before yesterday I had the attitude of giving him the benefit of the doubt, that he was truly and thankfully a convert, but now...

"Bush showed incredible leadership on 9/11"

Barr’s campaign manager Russ Verney said this in today’s Barr Campaign Update:

“In times of crisis, strength in leadership requires boldness of character, clear direction and firm resolve. As we witnessed after the attacks of September 11th, President George W. Bush showed incredible leadership as he stood atop a fire truck amidst the rubble of the twin towers to rally America.”

This must be a joke.

This must be a joke.

This is ridiculous! It's

This is ridiculous! It's obvious that Barr is a GOP mole they put into leadership to prevent anyone effective from taking control of the LP presidential ticket.

He's not campaigning to you.

He's campaigning to Republicans to try to get them to go Libertarian. You've got to put some bait on the line to reel them in.
