Debates and Debate access is what Ron Paul has commanded us to do.

Dear Daily Paulers,

If Ron Paul endorses 4 candidates and stresses the importance of getting them into debates, what can we do?

No brainer, we must exert all of our efforts into getting these 4 individuals into the debates with the Dems and the Repubs.

How do we do that?

Are there any debates scheduled?

Will these 4 candidates have their own debate and invite McCain and Obama?

This to me should be our goal, debates and debate access,
it is what Ron Paul has asked, it is what will get the 30 or 40 million people who actually vote, the awakening that has been long overdue.

This is a talented bunch. How could we make it happen?

Thanks.

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

I'm in. Tell me where to start.

McBama will never debate any third party candidates...

the election is so close, their owners would never risk them being confronted on real issues. Sad to say, the best we can hope for is a well publicized debate(s) with all the 3rd party candidates.

Make them look bad

great idea, make them look bad.I'm in for $100

commanded is kinda strong

kind of has that militaristic aroma to it....

maybe suggested - encouraged - challenged us

however, point well taken - lets get third party candidates in debates....

and have their own debates as well -

But - they should be included with McBama in all debates -

anything up with www.rockthedebates.com
Jesse Ventura mentioned them at the Rally -

maybe C SPAN would agree to televise it.

We're up against the same machine...

..that effectively stifled and stunted the RP candidacy.

RP was a charismatic, joyful man to listen too. Not polished or poised. Not full of himself. Full to the the gills with sound economic information. As patriotic as the day is long.

And we couldn't even get him in the debates.

Now let's turn the the isle of misfit toys we have to choose from.

Barr?? After yesterday, campaign over. 'Nuff said.
Baldwin? Not even a blip on the radar.
Nader? Champion of the consumer, I agree. The rest of his politics run a little to the left so he's a hard sell.
I know nothing of the green party candidate... can't even bring her name to mind.

From this list we're supposed to choose the next president?

I had so hoped that it wouldn't come to this. I so hoped that RP would have used all his momentum and done a third party run himself. However, it is not to be.

I truly fear the next four years. As I've said in other posts, I don't know if this country has four years left in the condition we are in.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

He was only in a few debates...

and that's how this all started.

That said, I agree with you. I don't know that Barr, Baldwin, McKinney, or Nader have what it takes to inspire people to vote for a third-party candidate.

We need to figure out a comprehensive plan of attack to break up the duopoly that involves:
1.) Getting into debates
2.) Getting on ballots
3.) Getting fair media coverage

Duh? "commanded us"

What rock have you been living under? Ron paul does not "command us" to do anything! You could have phrased that better.

Folk Theory

Has a good debate idea on the Nader/Paul/CNN blog (thread?). Donate $1,000,000 to the Vets if Mc & Ob show up to a third party debate. I added that we could do a money bomb to help out. Maybe make it $200,000 per candidate who shows. What do you all think?

I'd donate to this idea

Is it already started or do we need to get it started?

Maybe we can tell the MSM that we'll donate $1M to a vet org if they let the 3rd party candidates in with equal time and same questions. The pressure could work both ways.

We just need to find a group that already has a very strong lobbying effort. They'll get their people on the ground working on our side for $2M. Who knows...they might put a good word in to some of their members as well.

I've e-mailed C4L

and mentioned it to Michael Nystrom. Maybe someone from either site will run with this....

ya know, money talks,

Bulls__t walks.

Might work.

"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.

Positively the best post of the day

This is what DP is all about.

What Can of Debate Are you going to get in?

when you split the pro-liberty movement up into 4 pieces and ignore the one person, bob barr who could have possible reached the threshold of 15% to get in the debates...assine stupidity at it's worst!

Ron Paul'08

It is not splitting the movement,

It is MAGNIFYING the movement. If you got 6 candidates and 4 out of the 6 say "restore the Constitution" or "bring the troops home", then you have a majority that will be plainly evident to the American people who want the same things.

"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.

Well...

If Barr is such a great candidate...then a debate should only foster that..and push him further by getting him more support....

So what is the downside of having him appear in a debate? Will he be in any televised debates along side of McCain or Obama????

I think not, so here's his chance to shine...and get the troops behind him right? And then if he does break the 15% he very well might get to stand along side of McBama. But for right now...he's not there...

So why don't you support him by working hard to get him his chance to win everyone here over?

You're goal is our goal...if you really want to win votes for your guy.

Email Bomb????

Lets think about who is Ron Paul friendly.... (MSM shill or not)

Tucker Carlson
Glen Beck

Steven Colbert
John Stewart
Leno
The Situation Room
that Jack guy...I can't remember his name at the moment....

Maybe we need to start hitting them DAILY even HOURLY saying we want them to stage a debate.
I'm thinking that between us, with all our different time zones, we could lock up Email on all major MSM with an hourly push.

They'd be forced to either acknowledge us, change their Email addys, or pay someone to delete our daily comments. (they couldn't delete everyone because they wouldn't know who was "us" and who were just plain folks)
If we sell it to them as a ratings booster...one of them is bound to pick up on it.

Great comment!

This is exactly what we should be doing, it is all we have left to do.
Every day, every hour, until they relent.

"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.

and before you say it...

I know this is petty in a way...and that you might not think it's "worthy" of us now....but...

This IS what we are known for..like it or not...AND...it's not like we're doing so much that we can't fire off atleast one Email every day.

This is where we started and got our "recognition" ... it's only suiting that this is the forum we work best in.

reedr3v's picture

It would be more effective if we could get supporters

of Nader, McKinney, Baldwin, Barr to also send a lot of email. Or we could send it as VotePac supporters. Then it wouldn't be just the Paul crowd that some just ignore as email pests.

Never let it be said,

That the pursuit of liberty is petty.

Thank you.

"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.

The best bet is focusing on just one candidate.

If our resources are spread out between promoting all four candidates, it's even less likely than any one of them will get in the debates.

And we're not going to gain much at all with them debating each other. We need to get someone representing the views of limited government on the nationally-televised stage debating McBama. The only way to accomplish that I can see in this presidential election cycle, is to campaign for Barr to get him polling at least 15%.

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

you miss the point...

It's not about getting someone to win.
WE KNOW THE FIX IS IN....
What the point is....is to wake everyone else up to the corrupt exclusion of viable candidates that may appeal to the average American better than who they are aware of now.

Of course...if you're not here to "get" the point...then I guess that explains it.

Exactly!

The more people that publicly say the same thing, the more more the sheeple will be unafraid to agree.

"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.

Good luck with that, troll

Maybe your neocon shrimp will pull a whole 0.15% of the vote now, after his shameful performance yesterday. Maybe.

I am not so sure about that RonBarr.

If we have a national debate, and 4 out of the 6 candidates, say "restore the Constitution", then we win as a group, because 2 out of the six will say that the lipstick on the pig is the wrong shade.

"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.

Think about what it means to be a 3rd party candidate.

By default it means you're not a mainstream candidate. So what does that mean? It means the debate is not going to be televised to the mainstream. The mainstream is not interested, therefore whoever wants to televise it won't get commerical sponsors because low ratings will be predicted. It may get on C-Span or something like that, where the politically literate already are aware of these people, so it won't accomplish that much.
