HELENA – Republican Ron Paul does not want to be on the Montana ballot as the Constitution Party presidential candidate, but state election officials said Thursday it may be too late to remove his name.

Paul, in a letter to the secretary of state, said his name was nominated by the Constitution Party of Montana without his permission.

The secretary of state's office said there does not appear to be a provision to remove Paul's name at this point. At least some counties have started printing ballots, officials said.

Plan B

Ron Paul is going to become the speaker of the house and third in line for president, congress is the one that controls the spending and makes the laws, if he controls what is sent to the president he controls the presidency. That is the job of congress.

I wouldn't be surprised ...

if the letter was from a mole on Paul's staff. If Dr. Paul denies it, he loses his four-party coalition. The purpose of the letter would be to discourage either disgruntled LP or CP state parties from placing Dr. Paul on the ballot.

Only speculation but ...

I think it is a fig leaf to Barr...

The only 3rd party candidate that has the ability to get any votes at all in Montana.

WAHOR!!

I have intended, all along,

I have intended, all along, to vote for Ron Paul no matter what. It is however, disheartening to see this and I am truly puzzled by it.

But....

WHY??? The article doesn't give an explanation.

Obama = O.ne B.ig A.ss M.istake A.merica

i can only surmise that he dosnt want to pull votes

from the other 3rd parties. If these reports im hearing are true, and baldwin offers to appoint RP to sec of treasury, and RP accepts- then a vote for baldwin is a vote for RP (RP in a baldwin administration would be as influencial as Cheney was in the Bush cabinet- i think RP would be close at hand for his advice on issues unrelated to the treasury as well). Ron is good to his word- and he honestly wants us to vote the 3rd party of our choice-and since he's not in the running as POTUS the only thing to be gained at this point in getting votes is to flatter his ego. I think he wants his name off all ballots so the other 3rd parties ROAR with votes.

Live Free or Diebold

Oh

I called the campaign office & they said that it was true and that it was because he is not an official member of the Constitution Party. He is a registered Republican so technically can't be on the Constitution ballot and he'd like the person who is a registered Constitution party candidate to have the votes.

Good analysis

I think you're on to something, Jinc.

RP2012!

This definitely causes a

This definitely causes a little dilemma here in MT...

Having a chance to vote with RP on the ballot here is great but it also takes away from the ability for Chuck Baldwin to become known or do any good and meaningful campaigning here.

Now it would be great if RP actually would win here. That might need a little bit of a greater miracle though.

Vote RP against his will or write in Chuck over Ron Paul's name... Hmmm.

Good thing either of them is a pretty good choice!
