Chuck Baldwin states I WILL appoint Ron Paul secretary of the treasury LIVE ON AIR!

This is from an interview with Chuck Baldwin where he states he will appoint Ron Paul Secretary of the treasury.

How huge would this be? Imagine the value of our money if Ron Paul was appointed in this position!

What do you think would happen to the Federal reserve and the IRS?

This is big everyone.

Uhh... Sounds like pandering to me

Been sometime since I've posted, but I've been keeping a close eye on this place.

I have to agree with Minarchist below, and especially regarding this post:

Baldwin or any other third party will not be winning this election, but voting third party to show dissatisfaction is imperative. Therefore, this statement is empty. It is nothing more than the type of political pandering we supposedly abhor. It is on the same level as Barr asking Paul to be VP.

Has RP accepted this offer? Has he made any inclination that he would accept? Would he give up his house seat to do so?

Come on guys we are supposed to be above this type of stuff. And honestly, all of the giddy commenters below sound similar to the new found Palin fans who take talking points at face value without evaluating the substance.

My two cents.

Not 'pandering' he's very serious.

You can ask him yourself, just friend him on Digg.
He's digging articles and leaving very informative comments and taking shouts...Great opportunity! http://digg.com/users/ChuckBaldwin

Secretary of Treasury would be good.

Last time I read from Title 26, it calls out the Secretary of the Treasury as the one with authority to enforce Internal Revenue Laws. There's no doubt in my mind that Ron Paul would properly enforce them.

Stupid and meaningless

What a blowhard. Baldwin knows (or should know) he won't even get 1/2 of 1% of the vote in the states where is on the ballot! Who he says he would appoint when he becomes president (and pigs start flying) is meaningless, and he's a blowhard for even saying it.

Don't fall for this pathetic pandering.

I'm gonna work for him in

I'm gonna work for him in AR, so...maybe it will get up to 1%? Everyone here wanted Huck or Hillary..they are ripe for a takeover to third party. Please do not denigrate my efforts before i make them. Besides, if we can get 50% of America to vote 3rd party, there is a darned good chance one of them could get a large percentage of electoral votes. Furthermore, I would bet right now, that if they DID, and McBama split the other 50%, and someone WON, any one of them would offer RP a cabinet position.

Sorry to say it, but

Sorry to say it, but politicians are still politicians no matter how high and holy one wishes them to be. They gain power by adapting to the shifting winds of public opinion.

The Barr campaign is over.

The Barr campaign is over. Mnay state chairman and other LP members are calling for him to step down and even David Nolan Co-founder of the LP stated yesterday DO NOT SEND THE BARR CAMPAIGN MONEY. The Barr campaign is officialy over.

My vote is going to Chuck Baldwin

What a ridiculous comment.

What a ridiculous comment. Turn the argument around with any other candidate and you'd say the opposite.

That makes no sense.

My argument is that Baldwin's announcement that he will appoint Dr. Paul to head the treasury should he win amounts to nothing more than blatant stupid meaningless pathetic pandering. Heck, that's not even an argument. It's essentially true by definition, based solely on the axiomatic premise that there is no way Baldwin will win.

Anyway, how do you turn this argument around? What does that even mean?

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

But if....

But if Barr was to say this you'd be screaming it from the mountain tops.

ummm...but he didn't....and you are a truly negative person. I have to wonder why. I understand that you support Barr and that's cool....but why can't you respect the fact that others support Baldwin...or Nader...or McKinney even????

The message of Liberty brings us together....unless of course you really aren't here for Liberty.

No, I wouldn't

You must have me confused with someone else.

When Barr does something stupid, I point out that he's an idiot, as I did over his stupid decision to not attend Ron Paul's press conference on Wednesday.

And if he said he would appoint RP secretary of treasury, I would say that's stupid and meaningless pandering too. Because it is, no matter which minor party candidate does it.

And I respect everyone's right to support whoever they want, I just would urge everyone to not fall for stupid blatant pathetic pandering. I also think it's important on this forum to explain why, those of us who support the message of liberty, should vote for the LP nominee, no matter how big of a jerk he is (and we've got a doozie this year). But that's in another thread...

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

Because ....well...because I want to damn it!

That's the kind of stuff I want to hear.

I'm sure Baldwin

would be proud to appoint Paul anywhere he wanted to be :)

why not give him the State Dept also?

His foreign policy is spot-on.

is there a way to get DIGG

is there a way to get DIGG on this?

If this doesn't align 3rd Party voters, I don't know what will.

Now all I have to do is quickly move out of California, and establish residence in a state where I can vote for Chuck Baldwin...

Any chance still of Baldwin getting on the CA ballot?

I checked into this yesterday

and according to Baldwin's website he has CA listed as "write-in". I recently moved from VA to CA so besides the primary (where I PROUDLY cast my vote for RP!) This will be my first time voting in CA so I don't know how the write-in thing works here.

One encouraging thing though... in the states where he missed the deadline or did not receive enough signatures, or PA where it is in court, Chuck's site clearly states that. All of the rest of the states where he is not offically on the ballot are listed as write-in. California is among those. Maybe there is still a chance to get him on the ballot here?

Dr. Ron Paul is my HERO!

I'm ashamed to say I was

I'm ashamed to say I was unaware of this. What is the story with Baldwin and the CA ballot?

wouldnt he have more voice as a congressman?

position-wise thats a promotion- maybe he'll even get his signature on any new currency (he should anyway lol) but wouldnt having him as sec of treasury corner him into one localised dept? like having a 5 star chef come to work for you at KFC? Im not completely sure of what the sec of treasury DOES- but it wouldnt give him anykind of oversight to the fed reserve would it? If im wrong then Ron Paul will accept- if he accepts then Baldwin can count on a WHOLE lot of Paul supporters voting for him.

This would be great.

Motivating people to get behind baldwin is tough for four reasons:
1) Anti gambling
2) Anti gay
3) Too religious
4) No official track record

Can you supply me some arguments so I can get people on board? It'll be easier if we can form a concensus of his quotes to stop the people scared he's too socially conservative without a track record.

Just like Palin

I couldn't resist. Way to easy of a target.

SGP hit it below.

I would add that when people have problems with the CP platform wording, it is almost always the rhetoric used in the platform, and not the platform positions themselves.
That's what you have to clarify.
Regardless of the CP's rhetoric or reasoning behind it, the actual platform positions are founded in Constitutional framework. So the rhetoric isn't really any issue, except as something that some anti-religious people want to freak out about.

#1 and #2 are states rights, no federal place in those, according to the 10th Amendment. Simple.

With #3, it's mostly the anti-religious people who freak out over this, and it's hard to overcome. The best explanation is that CB is Constitutionally protected by the same 1st Amendment of freedom of expression and religion, that they want to be protected by.
The CP platform makes it clear that the Constitution is the guide, and that it will be protected and defended for all people.
The Constitution states there will be no religious test to hold public office, and the very first page of the CP platform displays this.
Would the detractors deny CB his right of freedoms? Would they intend to put in place a "religious test to hold public office" in order to deny CB the right to be President? If so, they are hypocritical bigots with a special interest agenda, and are not going to come into this movement.

To me, #4, "no official track record" is a massive plus, because he hasn't become mummified in institutional corruption for 25 years like nearly everybody else in Wash DC.

And lastly, you are going to meet some people who want to brand the CP as "wanting a theocracy".
These critics are not rational. They are zealots.
Probably the best course of action is to move on to somebody else who is not so thoroughly immersed in some special interest that they would outright lie in order to denigrate the party or Chuck.
Any reading of the platform would clearly show that it is Constitutionally based, and has zero planks that even resemble changing away from being Constitutionally based.
So, claims about "theocracy" are from people who are special-interest Anti-Christian types(of various types) which generally have a specific hate for Christians and you can forget about getting them involved.

SGP hit it... and you all still listen to this felon

Steve Parent belongs in a mental ward...

As for the CP... Baldwin has made statements that it should be a requirement to be a christian in order to hold public office in America. I'm not a christian so I'm excluded from participation? I served this country in war... if he thinks he's going to take my right to participate then he is welcome to come to my door and tell me that in person... in fact I challenge him to come to my door and tell me that.

Great Response

Thanks BigT
