Trying to bring some sense to the Barr no-show....
Submitted by JBPT on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 14:30
Barr took some bad advice. Plain and simple.
Seeing everyone write him off over this is senseless. It's one bad move made with good intentions. Certainly Dr. Paul has made mistakes along the way and no one reacted in this manner.
Sorry, I don't buy he's a neo-con shill who is really trying to get McCain elected. That holds no water.
If that's the case why is he the nominee? He PULLS votes FROM McCain. If he really wanted McCain in office he would have never put himself in the running. He's the strongest LP candidate in a long time both in terms of experience and name-recognition.

It's Paul's staff that is the problem.
They didn't tell his staff the full story of what the press conference was about. He didn't know he was being set up to share a stage with socialists. He doesn't want to take part in watering down the message like this. If Dr. Paul's staff was up front about everything he wouldn't have to agreed to come in the first place. He had every right to back up when they found out what he was being draw in to. I support the decision not to attend.

Watering down the message?
That's some new spin we haven't heard. LOL
Really???
Because I knew what it was going to be about before it occurred without any insider information (The Houston Chronicle had an article the day before it occurred). If Bob Barr didn't, he's an idiot, and that's a good enough reason to dump him.
This was a Bob Barr drama queen moment, and it cost him votes (mine, for one, but I suspect lots of others as well).
You are a fool
The press conference, as said, was about fairness in the debates and fighting the two party duopoly.
Barr didnt attend because he is NOT a Libertarian and does NOT want to challenge the stranglehold the two party system has.
Not true.
He's expressed several times in the media that he wants to break up the two party monopoly. He just doens't agree with Dr. Paul's strategy here. What's wrong with disagreeing with Dr. Paul over strategy? The people offended that Barr disagrees with the strategy are way too sensitive and cult-like.
Barr just proved that he can think for himself, and that's what upsets you.

You don't
enter a den of Lions without being one yourself.
Barr took some bad advice and tried to sell it as leadership?
Irony much?
Also, hes a strong candidate in name recognition, NOT in principle.
Hes only running as a Libertarian to salvage a failing political career, not because he believes in the principles libertarians do.
You're making a very
You're making a very rational argument with people that do not want to look at this rationally. Barr's move was stupid, but it was no worse then the many of the ones done by Paul. On this site, the masses make excuses for Paul, oh it was the campaign staff and on and on, but when its Barr , its that he's an evil neo-con. Their minds are made up and there is no way to debate someone with a closed mind.
For me, my mind was made up over this yesterday. I canceled all my Paul things as the people in this movement are too much like what I've seen in the CP. too many John Birch's, UFO tin foil hat wearing 9-11 theorists, and others what the mainstream will call kooks. Hey I'm a kook too in my own way, but as a former sales professional(in my former life before buying a restaurant) so I know when to talk about certain things. I don't go into a meeting telling fart jokes, but when I'm at home I'll joke about whatever I want.
You guys think its cool to be seen as kooky, you wear it as a badge of honor. I've seen the same within the LP at time (although far less often) when someone would pick apart the minor details of what someone said... "Mr Chairman, he did not say he would repeal the 16th amendment before going to lunch!" and other equally insane things you hear from some wacko purists.
Barr left the Republicans, he goes on TV saying that the place for liberty is not with McCain and the Rs, and yet some people just think that proves he's even a more creative mole! Its fucking insane - yes, that is insane to think that way. I'd call it stupid but even stupid people can figure out that you don't promote something by bashing it. It that were the case, this site must be filled with Barr supporters! Yeah... all secretly bashing him until just the right time, all in an effort to outsmart the one of two true Baldwin supporters on here. I now get it.
Frankly, I'm bored with it. I've been killing time on this site over the past few days, but its old already. All I can say now is, go ahead and bash me, try to figure out my secret agenda or whatever the fuck you want to do that floats your boat. As for me, I'll proudly cast my vote for Barr. I might even sue to get my 3k back from the Paul campaign as I think it was fraud that was used to give 25k of that money to Republicans. And I'm unsubscribed to all things Paul. I still have a autographed sign that I just don't want, but his fraud pissed me off too much to keep it.
So goodbye to this site too, have fun with bibleboy and watch out as I really do think the aliens are spying on you.
Ha!
What? Ron Paul voting for the Patriot Act? Some how that does not compute. In the end it all comes down to that vote. And well it should. If any bashing is being done, it is the bashing of that vote. I think more members of Congress will think twice now before voting our rights away. Could happen. If that were to be true, at least we can thank Barr for that.
Richiep, Don't go away mad. Stick around. Not all of us wear tin foil...... I don't look good in hats. ;-)
You are so wrong
When the truth is kooky, I will speak it all the time. When the make truth politically incorrect, I will be politically incorrect.
Barr is ex-cia, pro-drug war, pro patriot act filth.
He will not recieve the votes of the revolution.
For Barr, it's all about
For Barr, it's all about BARR. It's not about the message. I can't support some ego maniac with a neo-con vp.
I agree about the VP, but he
I agree about the VP, but he didn't have a say in that.
Its not one mistake..its a long list...
He's a lawyer...
He worked for the CIA
He was aggressive in promoting the War on Drugs
He voted for the Patriot Act
Etc, etc,..etc...
I was not a fan of Barr... but I didn't say anything bad about him... his penchant to make the wrong decision at a critical point should immediately rule him out as the Chief Executive... and to say he got bad advice is even worse... if he doesn't know what to do and he needs advice on this... Nope... not good... He has hit the self-destruct button and there's no turning back...
The standard was set and only three candidates made the cut... Bob Barr was my second choice... now he's at least fourth right next to Obama and McCain... a victim of his own doing.
He has no pity from me.

The reasons you list are not
The reasons you list are not reasons to consider someone a phony.
People have a change of heart, they see the error of their ways. The no-show suddenly doesn't make him a Bushie. It would take more than that to convince me.
Again, his running draws votes FROM McCain, not TO McCain.
Sorry,
He's a flatliner.
You're just wasting electricity by continuing to apply the paddles.
I know, acceptance is a difficult thing, but it's best to move forward.
This will help you make sense of it all

Sorry AoC, I need more than
Sorry AoC, I need more than that as proof Barr is a NWO candidate. It's completely opinion with no substance. No one has ever outed Barr as being a Bilderberger, CFR member, TLC member, etc. And if he was THIS is THE SITE that would be brought up.
I think his actions speak pretty clearly
as to whose side he is on. So far we do know he's ex-CIA (as if there really is such a thing) and apparently is a Khazar in disguise. Besides that, not enough digging into his background has happened yet to find out which other secret societies he's a member of. But the CIA alone should be a red flag.

Truth is treason in an empire of lies.
I want to see a public display of reconciliation ...
That includes a Statement from Barr himself affirming his agreement of the principles laid out by Ron Paul and a public hand shake by the two of them.
Simple and easy.
That is it.
If I get that, I will commit to voting for Bob Barr.
AHOR!!

I'd like to see something
I'd like to see something along these lines as well. Some token of humility of some type. I think the people would then forget about it. Most anyway. Hey, people make mistakes, we all do. If his supporters pack it in because of one decision the NWO wins again.
agree
I would hate to see conservatives voting for McCain.
anyways as far as my choice I made up my mind yesterday
Vote Nader 08

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
good for you!!! : )
You are the first person that is voting for a different candidate than i am that ive seen yet (im voting for baldwin) who I dont feel like is making an udeducated decision- nader just works better for you : ) i can live with THAT : )- see you at the polls!
Live Free or Diebold
I hope Baldwin gets a lot of votes
I just think that campaigning for Nader can be more effective in providing a base for Ventura run in 2012
democrats are pissed off with FISA and other Obama flipflops
so they have Nader
Cindy Sheehan came in support for him as did Jesse Ventura himself
here my thread about it~ http://www.dailypaul.com/node/61744
I think Nader can get above 10%
he raised a lot of money in those 2 days after that historic press conference....and Bob Barr no-show eliminates him in my eyes.

:( Voting for Nader is not
:( Voting for Nader is not voting for liberty...
See my post about Nader and you might see it differently

RP2012!
While that comment has
While that comment has merits, Nader is still better than McBama.
Not much better in my
Not much better in my opinion...McBama isn't proposing Canadian-style national health care, Mcbama doesn't want to exclude the use nuclear power, Mcbama dosen't want a Wall Street securities speculation tax, and they don't want a carbon pollution tax, and I don't agree with him in regards to his pro-union stances...but he does have a few positions I do like...
In my opinion, if you truly are a supporter of liberty and RP's ideals then the only real choices are either Baldwin or Barr.
I agree on the last
I agree on the last statement, one trump card, at least for me, is the fact Nader is not bought and paid for by the NWO. McBama is.
yes!~
therefore we have a chance to expose democrats to this truth
and convert them to Liberty.
I already saw posts from Nader supporters and others thanking Ron
and in my youtube accounts same thing...very uplifting.
