peace out

I am loathe to respond to

I am loathe to respond to this, but I think it's important to note that most Paul supporters are getting behind the MESSAGE, not the MAN. Paul himself says that this isn't about him, and he's right. The reason we are all so excited about Paul is because he is the first politician is a long, long time who has dared to speak the truth and who has the record to prove his integrity. There have been others who talk the talk, but their record exposes them as frauds. Paul is different, and that is why we are behind him.

Show me another politician who understands the Constitution like Paul does, and has a similar record to back up his words, and I'll get behind that politician. (Note that Obama does NOT qualify. Not at all. Not even close.)

I am not gay and i belong to the male side gender, but i do not think i should dictate how another must live or act if it does not effect me. Give the hate shit a rest, we have bigger fish to fry and those are sub issues. Our freedoms and Constitution are the main issues here, without them we have nothing and without it we can not start to discuss those other issues. We are in a fight for our Country not issues. Do not let this turn into the them and us, dem and republican stuff, because then we will fail. We all here need to see beyond that and become united again for one country. Semper-Fi

ey Folks,
I was forwarded this link from a few supporters because our Straw Poll was mentioned and a few inaccuracies were also mentioned, so I wanted to clear them up.

First, I DO like Avery, Evan and the crew, they're fun, dedicated and work for your candidate day in and day out. I appreciate their constant support of the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC). It certainly makes for an exciting dialogue.

Speaking of, the NYYRC is the oldest, largest and most active YR Club in the country, over 250 dues paying members and that's not easy in the bluest of the blue.

Last night we had close 100 people in attendance, and a little over 60 voted. Many did not want to vote, many did not want to become members to vote, many have not chosen a candidate yet and that's fine too, but only members voted.

Members -- ages 18 - 40 pay $35. Over 40 pay $75 -- Those that joined last night are current thru December 2008 and entitled to much: www.NYYRC.com

Fred Thompson did receive 1 vote.

The NYYRC has a non-endorsement policy, per our bylaws, so we can fairly hold a straw poll, as we did last night. When it comes to votes, there were many in that room, and Avery can stand up for this, that know that the votes were NOT tampered with. Nor were they mis-counted. There was an argument, but it was quickly settled and, happily, all was remedied post-debate.

If anyone has any questions -- feel free to email me, Thanks.

Thank You Lynn

Thank you for coming here and giving a first hand report. As you know with the internet, things can get out of control. I have seen it many times, specially when it comes to Ron Paul. Some people let there passion take over common sense.

I am sure not every RP supporter will keep up there membership, but I bet a few will. And I am sure you know this happens every election where people feel strong about an issue or candidate and when it's all over, they loose interest.

In general, thanks for holding the Straw Poll and allowing Ron Paul to be heard. We need to keep the ''witch with a capital B'' out of office and most of us truly feel Ron Paul is the answer.

Beat Him

Beat Giuliani in his home turf.. sucka!!

Will the MSM report this story?

Ron Paul needs to advertise the hell out of this. In his home state and Ron beats Rudy? Awesome!

HA!

"Will the MSM report this story?"

HA! HAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, what do you think. It is up to us to spread the word. Stop counting on the MSM. Keep the pressure on them, but don't count on them.

Open Phone Day

Tomorrow is open phone day on my local radio talk in show. It comes on right before Rush L. They limit calls on RP Mon - Thurs.

Well, tomorrow they are getting one from me boasting about the 4.2 and the Republican NY straw poll.

Let's get the word out on open phone Friday!

Open Phone Friday

Did you get through? Tell us about it if you did.

Realtor for Ron Paul

yes

We need an official press release from the campaign on this. This is huge.

I think the really interesting thing is...

the Mittster's vote count. Ghouliani is a divisive character in NYC. Some love him but most HATE him. I think we can beat HIM in NY state. Romney has (had) me worried. He's rich, local, and remember, Mormonism was born in upstate NY.

But look at his numbers there. ooooh i hope they reflect reality!!

Rolling Stone has lost touch with its roots

What has become of the formerly rebellious rock-n-roll mag? Have I changed that much? I don't think so.

They featured a really obnoxious article about Rudy in their June 14th issue that basically took Rudy's side in the run-in he had in the first GOP debate with RP. It's by Matt Taibbi.

"The Ron Paul ass-whipping revived Giuliani's standing among conservatives," is what he wrote.

Maybe Rolling Sone has been bought by Murdoch? Or is it that their hardcore Liberalism requires them to diss anything Republican?

Funny how times change: Now the Rolling Stone, which we read religiously when resisting the Vietnam War and rock-and-roll was the music of Revolution, is down on the only candidate who even dares to stand up for the peace and freedom we sought then!

R&R has become just another commercial product, I suppose.

And Liberalism has become the knee-jerk religion for the former Counter-Culture, in too many cases.

Honesty

OK, this has bugged me for a while. We keep pretending that certain polls prove our man is leading when we ignore other polls that show he is not. When a group of us are well organized and convene on a small meeting and we vote and win... it shows that 26 people were well organized and are working hard toward our common goal. It does not indicate that Ron Paul is supported is equal numbers around the state or country. The truth is, we keep meeting people that say. "Who is Ron Paul" and in fair polls we are still low. We are not as low as MSM portrays us and we certainly are not as high as "our" polls say.

I think Dr. Paul would want us to be honest in our campaigning ... even if it feels better to momentarily pretend that we are better off than we are.

I don't want to be a bummer.... I just want us to be realistic. What do ya'll think?

Only members of the NYYRC

Only members of the NYYRC were allowed to vote in this straw poll. Ron Paul supporters were welcome to attend, but if they were not members of the club, there were not able to vote.

I think this is a very good result for that reason.

Take a look at this post if you didn't see it before for an explanation about why Dr. Paul is not stronger in the major polls:

5%

Yes, I have read and agree with these arguments, but I doubt the correction will make more than a 5% difference. I think that in the average place, the average next 100 people to walk by.... we might get 2% to 15% .... What this means is that we all have to continue our excellent work!

Unfortunately, it is very possible that there are only 100,000 Ron Paul supporters out there. I think more like a 500,000. I think our passion makes us look bigger and that is a good thing.... I just hope that we can convince a few million more!

Matthew

I think that your hypotheses on numbers are way too low. I'd be willing to say that there are millions of RP supporters. We won EVERY straw poll in NH, and many straw polls elsewhere. The "official" poll numbers are further off than you think. Just consider for a moment that 1000 people showed up at UM to rally, that is at one university. From what I've heard from relatives in NH there are RP banners everywhere. This NYC straw poll was from established card-carrying repubs, this is HUGE because if he is winning among this crowd, once we add in the moderates, new voters, dem converts, independents, constitutionalists, and Hillary haters, we may win some states by large margins. I am thinking that NH will be a landslide for Paul, and many other states will be surprisingly supportive of Paul. This is especially true when you realize that if Giuliani gets 15%, Thompson 10%, Romney 10%, Huckabee 9% or so, Paul needs very little of the total vote to win that state - 15% or more. The Republican party has no sense of itself any more, and Paul is reorganizing them.

I recently read about a

I recently read about a study- 72% of republicans hadn't heard enough about Ron Paul to have formed an opinion yet.

In the area where I live, it's probably higher.

I'm guessing this study only included republicans who voted in the last presidential primary.

Once RP wins New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada; and gets second in Iowa and Michigan, PEOPLE WILL NOTICE.

However, the media will still say:

"No Republican Candidate is breaking away as a front-runner"
Rudy won IA, Fred won Michigan, Mccain took second place in NH, Huckabee took second in SC, Romney placed second in Nevada.

Long-shot candidate Ron Paul has done well in all five states, which are believed to be his strongholds.

Rudy placed in the top 4 in all states, so if we have to select a front-runner we'd choose him.

good news and bad news

well, since movements tend to grow exponentially, if it's that small now, what happens when each of us convinces just one other person. They convince two, four, etc,. It's gonna get bigger fast. We just gotta keep workin.

Yep, onward!

I hope I am under-estimating our position at this point! I would love it! I just think it is important to aim high while also being realistic.

Go RP08!!!

why he did not win

Ghoulie didn't win because people in NY know he was and still is, a lawyer. Who the hell wants a lawyer for president. Or even a Freddie pretending to be one. ;)

Maybe It Was a Klingon Cloaking Device ...

but I'd sure like to know how all those spammers wormed their way into the Metropolitan Republican Club. :-)

hahahah

i had to shower after leaving that place.

kidding.

Avery is actually on good terms with all republicans in NYC (ron paul supporter or otherwise). He's very sharp... no need to make enemies of these people. We'll still let them in our group once they come around.

so the story goes

I am not surprised as I have come to believe that polls are tools for mass deception. In an honest world the polls would state the facts.
Ron Paul is awesome. A great American. No wonder he is under constant attack.
The media is trying to tie Ron Paul to terrorism.

Rolling Stone magazine went one better, explicitly linking the Congressman's cash infusion with terror and anarchy:

"I don’t know what’s more amazing — the sum total. Or the fact that this Republican fund-raising surge this is all somehow in honor of terrorist, er, anarchist, er, V-For-Vendetta antihero Guy Fawkes."

We should be doing a lot of letter writing here pretty soon.
I am going to create an e mail account just for letter writing.

Go Ron Paul!

none are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

Membership needed

You have to be a member of the club to attend and to vote in the poll. I think it sends a strong message that Ron Paul won the 1st poll in NYC. Its funny how Ron Paul's stock goes up along with Gold.

You know

That's a good question, why are there so few participants in this straw poll.
Usually Ron Paul wins by a landslide.
Anyone that voted have a first hand experience of the amount of people that voted?

First Hand Experience

I'm not sure why the NYC Young Republicans have so few members (other than its the NYC Young Republicans, ALMOST a paradox in itself) but I do know that in order to vote you had to be a dues-paid member. They did allow people to join that day, and the entry fee was $35 for youth and $75 for everyone else. So we didn't "spam" the club's straw poll. Only dues paying members voted. I hear there were 'improprieties' in the vote counting, but ah well, we beat The Ghoul on his home turf, w00t

Ron Paul won and a few

Ron Paul won and a few people are complaining the vote was rigged!

I personally saw no evidence of improprieties and that the NYYRC has been extremely fair, in fact helpful, to our efforts here in NYC to spread the traditional Republican message of Ron Paul.

I doubt it...

...the lady who counted them and announced them is pretty fair and honest. She actually likes having avery and I around at events... I think it's a function of how much of a minority any type of republicans are in NYC...

Ask around... about half of us who were there didn't wanna pay the $35 to vote.

I don't doubt they like you guys.

I mean, other than being Anti-War, Ron Paul Republicans are the definition of conservative.

So Few Participants!

I am surprized that only 60 people in New York were involved enough to cast a vote in the straw poll. Here in Springfield, Missouri, a place with a much smaller population, we had 110 voters. BTW, Ron Paul cleaned up in Springfield, Missouri: Ron Paul received 85 votes and Rudy got boos when his name was mentioned and only 1 vote! The HEARTLAND has brains.
