An Idea for the Future
I've been thinking quite a bit lately about the press conference held by Ron Paul and Co the other day, and how we as the grassroots can proceed from that. Over the past year we've done some pretty awesome things as likeminded individuals. We managed to set a one day record for campaign contributions, we raised enough money to float a blimp up and down the east coast, we propelled a man with great ideas from relative obscurity right on to the national stage. All of this because, as a whole, we desire change. We're tired of the status quo and we don't want to take the same old BS anymore. Last week when Ron Paul stood up on stage and introduced Chuck Baldwin, Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney he was telling America that we really don't have to stand for this. I know I'm being long-winded so let me cut to the chase. I think that with our grassroots ability to organize and raise money we should move toward the future with the idea of introducing America to the major third parties (Libertarians, Constitution, Green). We could do this through a variety of media, such as television, newspapers, radio, etc. Such ads could also be targeted to areas where the ideas of a particular third party would be most likely to take hold. For example, the ideas of the Green party would suit large parts of California, while the Libertarian platform would be a better fit for Texas. Including the major third parties opens up the door for a better funded campaign and a better chance at reaching the ultimate goal of breaking through the two party system. This is just a rough idea of what I think can be done. What do you think?
