Anybody ready to talk mortgage and loan payment boycott yet?

We were enslaved with debt, it is our chains that can empower us. Work it out how you can finance it and how you can sleep with your decisions, but the ONLY threat we can make that will get attention is to STOP paying our bills. I believe we should demand election reform BY OCTOBER or we pay no bills in November. They can steal the election again, but we will NOT pretend we did not notice.
I heard SO many people offer to put SO much on the line, yet a few late fees and a hit to the FICO is now too much to sacrifice for liberty? The beast is on the ropes NOW, who know what we will be up against at the next election? I say strike now, or pack for FEMA camp. I believe that is our real choice.

You always have to worry about theft

What's the difference between a thief stealing your money or a banker stealing your money? Leaving it in a bank and the risk is still there. At least this way you have some control over it.

You could always go to bankrate.com and find the safest bank to transfer it to which will most likely be a smaller bank that didn't get too involved in the sub-prime crap. The rich are already moving their wealth out to foreign banks.

bad idea

Sorry but lots of bad ideas and irresponsible behavior in this thread with little to gain.

Taking your money out of banks is fine, but then you have to worry about theft. Still not sure why you would want to usher in a bank run and the chaos afterwords though.

Boy... this could really stir the hornets nest!

Even better withdraw your money from the banks for 20 days

If enough people did this, banks would have severe liquidity problems and would most likely go under. That's the problem financials have now, the rich are pulling their money. The little guy is always last to react and usually loses the highest percentage of their wealth.

Stick with gold and silver. I know the metals have been taken a beating lately but the naked shorts can't do it forever and they are being helped by the Fed leasing them gold. Once they break and THEY WILL, the metals will go through the roof.

Don't you find it odd that the local coin dealers don't have much to sell and some dealers are paying more than spot price to buy it back? Gold and silver have been used as currency for more than 5000 years and there is a reason for that. There is a limited supply of it unlike fiat currency that can be printed at the whims of the banks.

YES!!! YES!!!

Now we are talking! It is time to stick it to the man and default on your obligations. We need to get Dr Steve Parent in here. This is his specialty...what you need to do is max out all your credit cards and then take out a huge loan....then find a really fat, disgusting canadian broad...convince her she looks awesome...marry her....and then hide out in the Great White North. Super!!!!

make one payment late (or early) just not in November

everyone wants to make it like I am asking them to behave immorally. What are you really afraid of, losing a few FICO points?

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Agreed

I am willing to consider letting my college loans which I've been repaying go ignored, also my remaining credit card debt. FUCK, much of the money I've spent in my young life was on the shit falsely promoted as worthwhile when it was just deceptive hype. Do these people deserve their fucking money back? Even my Biology degree, so close to completion, I left for a current long leave of absence because of my perception that the "realities" of human nature and the universe are not the nonsense they promote, research and create through the power of their own low minded beliefs. Study quantum physics and get in touch with the power of thought.

But if I do this, I'll have to learn Spanish because I am sure I will be fleeing to Central America.

www.fdrs.org would be a good

www.fdrs.org would be a good place to start your research into debt relief. their resource tab is 2nd to none on banking info and why the whole system is corrupt. They do not handle student loans how ever www.debtfree.com does.

Help! I'm debating on letting my home foreclose ...

I'm a person that usually upholds his contracts and does the right thing even when everyone else is doing the wrong thing; yet, I'm ready to just send my house keys back to the bank and move. Chase Bank owns it by the way via an FHA loan. YUCK, what was I thinking? I was pretty naive back then.

This is the first home I have purchased for my family and I completed the transaction several months back. It is a modest home and sufficient for my needs. I didn't purchase it out of speculation or with an idea to get rich some how. I was just ready to settle down and the American thing to do at the time was buy a home. I've since then awakened to the reality of our situation thanks to RP and as you know the housing market crashed.
I live in a highly populated city and I anticipate things getting bad enough that it will be hell to try and survive. I want out. I want to pack my bags and leave, but I will not be able to sell my home until the market bounces back (if that ever happens) and I will not be able to keep up on payments because I will be leaving my cozy job behind as well.

Any insight and different perspective would be appreciated.
Thanks DP

Are you able to

rent it out?

Its always better to try and sell it yourself ....

When it goes into forclosure the bank will come after you for the difference owed in what you borrowed and what they sell it for - so you will be stuck with a loan that still needs to be paid off, and no home to show for it. You may not sell it what you bought it for, but you will sell it for more than what the bank gives you for it.

If your lender lied and broke the contract why should you pay them?

Because I send it with infomation that I do hope to make money off of. And I try to localize my mailings to those who are already feeling the financial pinch. I help them get out of debt, remove 100% of all negs. on their credit reports and learn to live debt free, while feeding my family and paying our bills. Free Yourself!

Quit borrowing and pay off your loans like your life depends on it! - I did and you wouldnt believe the peace of mind that comes with it - The borrower truly is slave to the lender - heres where I found a plan to free myself -

http://www.daveramsey.com/

But as far as advocating not paying on debt you do owe - no way - think about it - thats theft no matter how you look at it. Your not just stealing from "big evil corporations" when you do that - but everyone who holds stock in them too. remember, retirement plans have stock in them - you just might be stealing from yourself, and your friends and family.

Absolutely, Yes

You are making payments for loans that you took upon yourself. You must fulfill your obligations.

If you are going to boycott anything like this, taxes would be a better candidate as the Income Tax is unconstitutional. Not that I am recommending such a boycott, but it would be a more proper target.

Zak, I'm NOT advocating

Zak,
I'm NOT advocating anyone to not pay what they owe to anyone for anything...that would be stealing. How ever I DO adovcate NOT paying what you DON'T owe. When lenders lie about or change a contract after the fact, you should not and can not be held accountable for it. When there has been a breech of contract, the contract is void and NEEDS to be written. Dave Ramsey is a great read if you are not self-employed (regular steady income) or already up to your eyeballs in muck. For those that are then they need to know that there are better solutions than "credit counciling" which will ruin your credit or bankruptcy.

I am self employed

It just takes a little more self discipline. I do agree with you that if a lender lies, they should be penalized. I dont practise shady business, and i wont do business with anyone who does. Now why arent you putting that info up for free on the web? :)

I just cancelled my school loans the other day.

I am going to have to fund my college education with a pay as you go approach. I decided it would be unethical for me to take federal back loans and almost all the private loans are locked up and rejecting a huge number of students.

"Debating Neo-Conservatives is like talking to a butt that keeps farting at you."

DO NOT TAKE FEDERAL LOANS FOR COLLEGE

You are stuck with them forever. I was an older student, parents did not help out so I took out mega loans for an expensive school. My salary is not increasing the way I expected it to and now I am now a slave to the bankers probably for the rest of my life. You cannot even declare bankruptcy...very very difficult to re-finance.. RP was smart by not letting his kids take federal loans.

Out of my own pocket, too...

That's what I'm doing, too. I'm in my second semester of taking classes part time, and it's been out of my own pocket. Although I could likely get some financial aid, I'm not going to, since that money would be stolen money. I don't want anything to do with borrowing money for the classes.

What's I don't like, however, is that I'm going to a community college means the college itself receives funds from the government. I didn't realize this until recently, when I thought to look up 'community college' due to the word "community". So now I'm not sure what to do when this semester is over. I'm in my mid-20's, married, and have a child, so I can't exactly run off to some private college someplace (which probably receives government money [our stolen money] anyways), nor could I afford more than one or possibly two classes at a time (darn socialized education [financial aid] inflated the prices!).

I'm unsure of the ethics of continuing taking classes at a community college, though it seems that it's very existence depends on stolen money, making it wrong.

There has to be a better way

I think soon we will have to learn our trades through internships, trademenships and other first hand ways of learning our skills. Besides, American colleges are not what they should be, we have stupid federal guidelines that force the schools to make students take worthless classes in order to be accredited.

"Debating Neo-Conservatives is like talking to a butt that keeps farting at you."

It is ridiculous.

I'm taking classes to get a associates in computer programming, but the classes are a joke. I'm self-taught (books, internet) when it comes to programming, and I already know nearly everything they're teaching in these classes. And there are the classes that I've put off so far (just taking relevant classes at this point) which are completely useless. I figure I should at least start with the relevant classes, since their the most valuable of the classes I would have to take if I were to get a job for programming.

Hopefully I can get a startup going, though, and avoid a "job" and college degree. I've recently started working on a piece of software that I think would be in demand if it was available.

Tech jobs in my area generally require 4-year degrees, and there's plenty of qualified people around, making it harder for me, with no degree to get anything like that.

In a sea of wrongs, of theives, of liars, and of scum...

I will do the right thing.

When the whole world seems to prefer the wrong thing, I will be right.

When the whole world votes for the lesser of two evils, I will be right.

When the whole world won't pay their debts, I will be right.

I will pay it, because I promised to.

I owe them, therefore I will pay them

Doing anything else makes you as unethical as the very banks you demonize.

We're in this mess because millions of people borrowed money they had no intention of paying back. It's truly a lost world when not paying your debts can be seen as a virtue.

Being LATE on a payment does not make me "one of them"

I have also suggested paying it EARLY if you can afford to. I have not ONCE recommended NOT paying what you owe. I DO think they are criminals, and if their crimes are exposed and I benefit financially, I will be OK with that, too.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
