Idea to battle the two-party system
Mary and John are unhappy with Washington. Mary plans to vote Obama, as she hates McCain. John is going to vote McCain, as he hates Obama. They agree that both candidates are bad but hey... third parties have no chance so why "waste" your vote on them.
However, their votes are going to cancel each other out, right?
Considering that, they can make a deal with each other to both vote third party. Any third party. It doesn't matter which. With that little agreement between the two of them, they are suddenly free to choose a candidate they really like, and at the same time both Mary and John can feel happy casting two votes against the two party system.
There must be a lot of husband & wife, brother & sister, grandpa & grandson, you name it couples out there. People who know they don't agree fully on politics, but are not happy with Washington in general. Why not have them come together in some kind of "vote marriage for a better Washington"?
Or give it another name. Just my idea, maybe it isn't a new one.

Good idea - Check out http://www.votepact.org. One of the questioners from votepact.org mentioned it during Ron Paul's Sep. 10 announcement.
More importantly, is http://instantrunoff.com. This lets the votes rank the candidates instead of just choosing one. Then they just start eliminating the candidate with the least votes and use the next highest ranking candidate on each person's ballot until one candidate gets a majority. That way you could vote for Baldwin then McCain for example and not have to feel compelled to vote for just McCain as the lesser of two evils.
Another important site is http://opendebates.org.
that's a good idea
It might really catch on if we can spread it effectively. Maybe check the voter rolls for mixed marriages and do some targeted canvassing?

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.
