Please Run For President Ron
I've always supported Ron Paul's decisions. I respect the fact that he has rarely changed his mind on anything (except capital punishment). But, I really hope that he changes his mind on running for President. We are walking towards the edge of a cliff that we will not be able to climb back out of for a while. If Ron Paul ran for President (maybe on the Libertarian ticket) he would have a chance of winning. We NEED him in the oval office. McBama will only make our present economic situation worse. What issue matters most with the voters? The economy. Imagine a debate about the economy, Who would win? Ron Paul. He's already made a name for himself this past primary season. He has enough dedicated supporters to signwave and get the word out. All he's got to do is muster up the courage to potentially lose his roles in Congress. I know that's quite a bit to lose, considering his position in the banking and foreign intelligence committees. However, we NEED him in the oval office. I felt during the primaries like we might be able to make it another 4 years before Americans woke up. I believe the banking crises have stirred enough commotion to waken up the people. He has a legit chance even on a third party ballot.
Pleae Ron, reconsider running for President. We'll forgive you for changing your mind. Please don't be stubborn about this. We need you NOW.

*Vote third party '08*
You don't have to run yourself, you can also support someone similar to Ron Paul, a THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE.
61% of the Voters would vote third party. That is the majority.
61% divided by even 2 is not a majority
and we are clearly split between Barr and Baldwin, while the liberals are split between Nader and Kinney.
WE have to pick one, and split the ticket with the liberals. Any of you willing to do that?
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
No
Sorry, but its like they say - "trying to get libertarians to agree on anything is like trying to herd cats" - Some of us will write in Ron Paul - some will vote Baldwin and Barr, Nader or McKinney...but all will vote according to our own belief system, WE dont have to do anything anyone tells us. Thats what makes us all so wonderful :) If you want communal groupthink, your going to have to look elsewhere.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
Ron Paul Presidency would make things better, just not fixed
Legally Dr. Paul has more power as a congressman than he would have as President. It is not congresses job to fix everything. It is not the Presidents job to fix everything. It is not even Dr. Paul's job to fix everything. That is our job, and while we can count on Dr. Paul's help, consistency and great leadership, we the people have the final responsibility. By Dr. Paul remaining in congress he has set himself in a point to do the job he's best at. If you want someone with Dr. Paul's beliefs in the white house, than prepare to run for office yourself. Its going to take time, and we have a hard road, but WE the People are the only thing that can force the government to follow the law.
Due to ballot access laws
Ron Pauls name cant be substituted - but if any of the 3rd party candidates pulls off a miracle and wins - Ron Paul will be have a prominant position in their cabinet - and I would imagine - act as an advisor on policy issues.
3rd party 08!

You may as well title your post...
Please give up your seat in Congress and become a has been!
Fortunately Ron Paul is too smart to do that he knows he has more influence as a sitting Congressman than as a third party presidential loser. Remember most of America is still caught in the false left/right paradigm.

Congressman, more powerful than a President, sometimes
It's like Charlie Wilson who fought a war in Afghanistan in the 80's. Even the President didn't get the money for this war, but Wilson got it. I know it ś not comparably.:)
True,
if Paul had been able to say get 40% plus in certain primaries and there would have been a divided RNC, there may have been a chance to win, otherwise not.
The people also have to think about the few Ron Paul candidates for congress, are they asking them also to switch to the LP ticket and if so, what chance would they have, and if not, is it not very contradictory that the leader of the movement changes party, while some of the followers like BJ Lawson remains in the GOP? Dr. Paul has thought well over these issues, just like me. He also knows even if he would be elected president, it would take a substantial time to bring about the monetary changes he want to.
People should use these trying times to get more people active with the campaign for liberty.
Technically
I think it is too late for the LP to change their ticket. Also, he has to poll at 15% to even even considered into the debates and the first debate is already next week. Also, in order to win he would need to get at least 33% of the vote and would need 100 m in a very short time, like in a week. Do you think all this is possible? Be realistic. Also, Paul knows well according to the constitution the president is the manager of the military, he is NOT the manager of the economy. If Paul would run and not win, it will be the virtual end of the revolution, as he will be out of office. The best is he stay in politics, and could be elected speaker in 2010, leading a possible GOP takeover of congress, especially if Obama wins this year. (think about Clinton 1992 and GOP revolution in 1994).
Agree logically with your reasoning, (it's undeniable)
but my heart still holds out hope fpr a RP presidency.

Yes,
I share your sympathies deeply. I would say strategically, if McCain would have chose a pro-choice VPO like Lieberman, Giuliani, Ridge, Snow, Collins etc. then the base in the GOP would have been split and our Dr. Paul would have had a possibility to attract say 50% plus of the GOP plus a certain amount of Democrats and Independents, he would have had a fighting chance. The problem is the LP is not known as a pro-life party, although there is a strong pro-life faction all the time. The CP will only be on the ballot in 37 states and the LP in 46/47 states, not even 49. There is also the issue of the sore-loser issue in 4,5 states, which prohibit Dr. Paul from being on the ballot. If he would have been a third party candidate, I bet 1k or more they would have asked him the "spoiler" issue time and again, just as they do with Nader and Barr.
Please do run, Ron Paul
