TEA PARTY 07 SLOGAN RESULTS!!!
Submitted by djskiefer on Wed, 11/07/2007 - 19:46Wow, what an unbelievable influx of amazing ideas for the Tea Party 07 slogan!
It got me thinking, it really would be a shame to see so many go to waste...
But it is obvious what has been implied all along by your responses:
A GENERAL (peaceful) AMERICAN REVOLUTION THEME!
I realize it would be very nice to have one all-encompassing slogan, especially for the media, but imagine for a moment the following senario:
Some apathetic guy is walking around the city and someone hands him a flyer:
"Party like its 1773! Donate to Ron Paul on Dec. 16th!"
Later, he's driving home and he sees a sign:
"No taxation with Ron Paul Representation! Donate..."
Later, he's surfing on the net and he sees
"The Fedcoats are coming! Support Ron Paul (Revere) on Dec 16th"
Wow! Imagine the impact this would have! In addition, the media would have a multitude of eye-catching titles to headline their stories when Ron Paul brings in 10 million on December 15th/16th.
Some of the top polled and suggested slogans are:
"No taxation for global occupation!"
"No taxation without representation!"
"Party like its 1773!"
"Tea Party for Freedom!
"No taxation with Ron Paul Representation!"
"Join the NEW BOSTON TEA PARTY--with Sons of Liberty 2007"
"The Fedcoats are coming! Support Ron Paul (Revere)"
"Ron Paul-- The REAL Patriot Act"
"The Sums of Liberty--Brewing rEVOLution"
"LiberTEA is Brewing!"
"For Liberty!"
"Got Freedom?"
I know many people are going to say that we need one central, cohesive slogan, but the truth of the matter is that none alone will truely capture the essence and magnificance of that remarkable day. But together, they will define our movement perfectly. Many of us love Ron Paul for different reasons; it won't be hard to pick a slogan we can all identify with. Please, give this some serious thought.
Who wants to help make a website, specifically for printable flyers, posters, etc. for this day? It could eventually be linked to the main website(teaparty07)! Plastering, say, a campus, could be done in sets of all these American Revolution slogans!

Surely the best slogan???
RON PAUL = NO TAX, MORE SEX!!!

Join the Sums for Liberty!
This call to action plays on the themes of the original American Patriots who organized as Sons and Daughters of Liberty to protest unjust taxes and laws.
"Join the Sums" emphasizes the Money and Meetup membership aspect of our peaceful revolt against Tyranny.
The Corrupt Fear Us.
The Honest Support Us.
The Courageous Join Us.
President Ron Paul 2012.
I lke it!
I've been saying this since it was introduced by Paul.Bearer.of.Injustice a few days ago. He said Sums of Liberty. I like Join The Sums for Liberty! There was also The sums of liberty are bewing a rEVOLution. Perhaps we could combine the two....Join the sums for liberty...a rEVOlution is brewing. What do you think? As agreed on a different thread, I don't believe that there has to be one...but I really like this one! Great stuff!

"We knew Ron Paul had a lot of supporters, but we had no idea that ALL of them would vote" - last known words from the MSM
Slogan
This is an eye wittness account from one George Hewes. many of them crying out(patriots), "Let every man do his duty, and be true to his country"; and there was a general huzza for Griffin's wharf (what they called Boston Harbor then)
So how about this: "Let every man do his duty, and be true to his Country" Huzza.

Slogan - "Say No to Taxes"
I think this slogan will be apt for the Boston Tea Party Money Bomb. It will get pro and anti war people to rally behind because given a choice nobody wants to pay taxes.
Today it is the tax that supports the current foreign policy, runaway spending, and debasement of the currency.

Watch out for LiberTEA

Be careful going with "LiberTEA." The MSM already loves the chance to call Dr. Paul the Libertarian candidate.

MEDIA
WHEN THE MEDIA SPEAKS IT SAYS RON PAUL IS
GETTING ATTENTION FROM SOME BECAUSE OF HIS ANTIWAR
VIEWS, THATS PARTIALLY TRUE,
BUT THEY CONVENIENTLY LEAVE OUT THE FACT THAT
RON PAUL WANTS THE GOVT. TO STOP SPYING ON AMERICAN
CITIZENS.
YOU SEE THE MEDIA KNOWS THAT WE ARE FRUSTRATED
BY THE PATRIOT ACT, OUR LOSS OF HABAUS CORPUS, ETC ETC
SO LETS NOT FORGET TO MENTION BY WORD OF MOUTH AND
OUR VIDEOS AND SONGS AND COMMENTS THAT RON PAUL
SIMPLY WANTS TO PUT BIG BROTHER TO SLEEP, WE SIMPLY
WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE BY OUR GOVT
WE DONT WANT OUR GOVT. TO SPY ON US

Keep it Simple (Stupid)
No, you guys aren't stupid. But I couldn't resist.
One central slogan/tagline could help, but some of these are so convoluted and long. They try to cram in Boston Tea Party references and too much other information.
A few simple, more pithy suggestions from someone who wasn't aware of the slogan contest:
1. Got freedom? (obviously the stylization/font would be similar to "Got milk?)
2. It's freedom (or liberty, or the Constitution), stupid!
3. For liberty! (the 2 second online video clip of Paul saying that before ringing could even accompany the slogan on the main page)
And if you ABSOLUTELY must have a Boston Tea Party reference in there...
4. Got Liber-TEA?
Do you absolutely need a slogan? No. Would it help the branding and media focus? OH YEAH.
Each of these has some pithy qualities and angles that can be played up without being too "revolutionary" (the Guy Fawkes/"V" tie-in wasn't bad at all, but it was a little..."risque" and unfriendly pundits were sure to mention the violence/terrorism connotations). They all play on the themes of liberty, freedom, and respect for law with a dash of humor (save for #3, which has other benefits by coming off more serious) and they avoid seeming corny by being long, complicated, and contrived.
I mean, stuff like "The Fedcoats are coming, support Ron Paul (Revere)!" isn't completely unfunny, but MAN is it corny. And it mixes up Paul Revere with the Tea Party and...sheesh.
Keep it simple, folks. A simple branding with a nice news angle is all you need. You don't need to win Joke of the Year, find an awkward way to mention monetary policy, or cram in everything Ron Paul stands for.
Civil Liber-Tea Party?
It seems crystal clear to me that Ron's going to win on two issues: the Iraq war, and on civil liberties.
As much as I'd love to count on sound money, a smaller government, secure borders, etc---he's only got 4 years.
I think if we get our troops back home, and restore our rights, that will be a MASSIVE accomplishment. (Habeus Corpus, Stopping Torture, Repealing sneak and peek, NSA Wiretapping, REAL ID, repealing abduction and extraordinary rendition, etc).
A civil-liber-Tea party has several plays on words that work well conceptually. I particularly like how adding "civil" adds a very welcoming and charming tone to an otherwise purely rebellious act--without neutering the fun bits at all.
10 million if by people
that is my suggestion for the slogan
( a mild variation of "two if by sea" )
