The New York Times reports:
...top Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill said on Sunday that they would act swiftly on the administration’s request, but not without setting their own conditions.
"Congress will respond to the financial markets crisis by taking action this week in a bipartisan manner that will protect the taxpayers’ interests,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. She added that the administration’s proposal did “not include the necessary safeguards. Democrats believe a responsible solution should include independent oversight, protections for homeowners and constraints on excessive executive compensation."
"We will not simply hand over a $700 billion blank check to Wall Street and hope for a better outcome,” she said....

Is there anybody listening or watching what is actually going on? If the dollar collapse due to all the corrupt decisions made in congress of self interest and absolute stupidity, bailouts are very small potatoes. I'm tired of hearing that congress does not know whats going on. That is an out right lie from hell. Any individual in congress that says they didnt know about anything in a package that they didnt vote for or didnt have the time to read needs to be thrown out of office on to the street with nothing but reality.
We the people expect those in congress to know what is going on or to have someone on their staff who can let them know whats going on. These games have got to stop. If the dollar collapse we will have a whole new can of worms to deal with besides the current administration who will tuck, run and hide along with mccain, obama, and all the others who are wolves in sheep clothing.
Lets do more then just type or write. Get off your duffs and breath some air in the world outside your house and office.

Gods Plan ?
I appreciate your thought, however, Gods Plan according to scripture is to see man saved and saints edified. Gods plan for today does not involve piddling around with mans selfish actions. If the collapse of the dollar or the bail out happens it is do to mans choices not gods snap of a finger. My God is not a" lets make a deal God". He has already shown his cards and what the plan is, in scripture. Man can not and will not alter God's plans. He has given us the ability by his grace and only his grace by the Cross and the shed blood of Christ to choose to do his will or not. God also explains in great detail through scripture what will happen to those who do not choose to do his will.
The corruption today is a result of mans choice to live corrupt and sinful lives, not because it is "Gods Plan".

i am merely saying that maybe, because of this plan that won't work, people will be destitute and looking for the truth- finally. in doing that, the perpetrators will then be rounded up and the people will again rejoice. so, in this respect isay to you- maybe this is gods plan. It's all just posing. The $700b -is- taxpayer money. None of these stipulations will protect taxpayers from this.
I dont know if Id agree with all the conditions they want
but I will note that it took a Democrat to say boo to the Gang of Five. Where is the republican party, bastions of small government and "values" when even a shred of integrity could make you look like a hero.
