CNN/Money asked what readers had to say about the bailout, and what they heard, loud and clear was: 'No way!'

Congressman Hulshof was very adament against this bailout. He voted against it both times and I heard him personally speaking against the bill on two ocassions. So Kenny should have your vote because his democrat opponent for Missouri Governor is one of the most corrupt politicians if not the most corrupt in Missouri. Jax Nixon, Hulshof's opponent, has violated the public trust by making a practice of tanking lawsuits against the state for political gain. As Attorney General he had a responsibility to defend the state in court or recuse himself so that the state could be defended by an outside attorney without conflicts of interest. Instead he intentially caused the cases to fail in some cases actually arguing against the State's position in court. This is akin to you being charged with a terrible crime that you did not commit and having your attorney argue in court that you had motive, opportunity and probably actually did it. Nixon should be in jail!
By the way! I'm Mad as Hell and I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore!
We need to get to the debates a day early.
Put up signs saying, if you vote for the bailout, we will vote you out of office!!!
if the bailout passes, we wont pay taxes !

We need to protest the debates, is there noone willing to stand up at the debates and tell them we don't want them to steal our country with a bailout!!!?
We need to shut down the debates so, peacefully of course, so that both sides know that we don't want this bailout. Friday is the day they plan to vote on this bailout, then they will go to recess and not have to deal with it until after the election. What is the rush? Why the scare tackticks? SOmething doesn't smell right.

Frankly, the American people
Frankly, the American people have just about had it with Washington, the Fed and sweetheart deals with mega-crook institutions.
I predict we'll have rioting in the streets across the country very soon.

Can we the taxpayers
put a lean on all real and any other property owed by the US government if this bailout passes?

Boru, I like to use
the analogy of baseball cards. Everyone knows that a rare baseball card carries some sort of value. But what happens if they start printing off more? The one you have in your hand is worth all the less. When governments have the ability to print money at their will, they cause inflation. What they are doing now will further compound the problem and the ripple effect will be more expensive everything. Watch...
I made my calls
I made my calls to my congressmen and senators. I say MY congressmen because I called my own and others in my state, including Congresman Hulshof who is running for governor in Missouri.
When I asked if Congresman Hulshof was in favor of the bailout, the staffer stated that the bailout is going to pass no matter what, its only a matter of how much oversight there will be. He stated there is support from both sides of the aisle for it.
I asked again if Hulshoff supported ANY kind of bailout and was told that it will depend on the final bill language.
I made it clear, as I did to the others I called, that I will watch the vote and will vote for the opponent of anyone who votes for any bailout of any kind, regardless of party.
I guess I am now a one issue voter. Any vote for bailout is a vote to be thrown out of office.
I had one of the offices babble about prohibiting golden parachutes. I said it doesn't matter if they try to prevent golden parachutes or not, a few million to some executive is a drop in the bucket compared to 1 trillion. No bailout, period.

The american taxpayer will bail out foreign companies!!!
I heard on the BBC world news podcast this morning that the new agency that is being created (the bill going to congress) includes the fact that they will be buying the bad debt from FOREIGN based companies and banks. So once again the us taxpayer will pick up the tab for the world... not just our bad choices but the whole worlds!!!!
It is bad enough that the Gov was going to bail out US fat cats but now all Fat cats get fed by the FED!
Someone please spell how this is so bad for me
The US gov has been giving welfare to industries for decades now...what's the big deal.
Talk to me like I'm a six-year-old cuz I no longer fear what I don't understand...and I don't understand this whole thing.
And try to tell me how it will impact me...personally.

the deal is
That it is the amount and scope of everything all together. Where is all this money comming from? The money that the gov makes in taxex each year doesnt even cover basic goverment services . They get the money by selling bonds either to other countries (china) so that money needs to be paid back WITH INTEREST and ON DEMAND thats has ramification now and for generations to come if we last OR the bonds are bought by the Federal reserve which CREATES money out of thin air to do it and Dilutes the money supply making EVERYBODYS Dollar worth less and eroding the faith in the dollar which is the onlything that gives it value since 1971.
So inflation...not to mention that the government got bigger
and more anti-Constitutional.
Anything else?
Cuz, I'm still not scared...not mad.
I've learned that there are some serious chicken hawks on these boards. For some reason, Ron Paul does draw lots of people who discuss things they are quite ignorant about.
The big concern is not
The big concern is not inflation, but hyper-inflation. This has happened in many countries. One recent occurence was in Venesula. Their currency collapsed and after a while many people were starving to death, dying from dehydration and killing each other for money, water and food. If the value of our dollar collapses, prices will sky-rocket and many people will have to choose between a place to live and food to eat. Many people will loose their job and regular citizens will become criminals just to survive.
Most people in the US don't have any concept of this, but we are on the way there and this bailout will get us there faster(adding an extra trillion dollars into the system could send it over the edge).
3:20PM, EST...it looks like
3:20PM, EST...it looks like there is an agreement between the Bushites and Congress for the $700 Billion "firewall" plan.....CAN YOU SAY HYPERINFLATION!!!!!

bailout is either appropriate or doesn't go far enough. 46% believe that the bill constitutes an overreaction.

I bet if you polled 91,000 Americans...
... the majority of them wouldn't know that THEY are responsible for a share of the national debt. The common idiot on the street probably doesn't have a clue that this is just tacking another $2300 onto the debt in their name. They don't understand that this is tanamount to the President pulling their credit card out of their pocket, taking a $2300 cash advance, then handing the money to a wealthy banker.
The American people need to wake the hell up. We're in some serious trouble.
No Court Appeal, Unlimited power to bail out foreign companies!!
Does anybody else find it interesting that THESE aren't the main subjects in this discussion. Sure, using taxpayer dollars to fund this package is reprehensible, but the REAL issue is the UNLIMITED power it gives the Treasury Secretary. And if I could bet, I'd bet that this is one of the highest priorities for which this mess has come about (ie been planned). This is the financial 9/11, folks. This is the terrorist act before the elections that everyone has been talking about. Sure, it may not be the only one, but it would take a lot to trump this. This is the selling out of our country. This one has been in the works for a long time. The sad part is that I think it's already too late. I will forever love our USA "the way it was", but it will be a memory that my grandkids won't have.
