POLL: What's your take on religion and politics?
Submitted by FireTeamforFreedom on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 03:39
Another hot topic and I'm sure we'd all like to know where the majority of people stand on this issue.
Religion is being used more and more as a hot button issue in politics and with Ron Paul's endorsement of Chuck Baldwin, the freedom movement is buzzing about the religion issue.
How do you feel about religion and politics? I have three polls that might shed some light on the subject... there near the middle of the page
............
We won't quit and we're not giving up on anyone that supports freedom and the Constitution!

Religion belongs
in a building with a steeple, politics belong in the other building for the people.
M.J. "Red" Beckman, author of "Walls In Our Minds" ...
and longtime patriot since the early '60's says this in his book:
"Preachers and politicians have much in common. Both have become professions where success is measured by how many followers they have. Politicians and many preachers are confidence men who play games with people's minds. In recent years many large religious operations have been exposed as scams, generating millions of dollars for con artist-preachers. Much of the blame for this can be directly linked to the contracts between the IRS and religious organizations. People try to buy a ticket to heaven and deduct the price of the ticket from their tax."
"The 501 (c) (3) contract is a direct violation of the separation of Church and State concept, visualized by Thomas Jefferson and other founders of this nation. Politician-judges in our court system tampered with the intent of a letter written by Thomas Jefferson while he was president. The phrase, 'separation of Church and State' came from a letter President Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptists. It was a personal letter rather than a presidential or executive order. The Courts have used the phrase as a basis for numerous decisions. The Court would have you believe that Thomas Jefferson intended for the churches to be politically neutral. Thomas Jefferson used the word 'separation' because he wanted the church to be a separate power as a check against the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of government."
"Most American churches have 501 (c) (3) contracts with the IRS and Corporate Charters." which ..."creates government churches, not separate powers. A corporation is a creature created by government and its rights are not secured by the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. A corporate church has the privileges granted by politician created law ..." "and they violate Thomas Jefferson's separation of Church and State concept."
"They tell us a free press was to be a watchdog guarding our liberty and freedom. The first amendment to the Constitution for the United States of America secures the right to a free press and freedom of religion. A church with no 501 (c) (3) IRS contract and no corporate charter can also be a watchdog guarding our liberty and freedom. This is what Thomas Jefferson intended when he called for separation of Church and State."
"The church must be a separate power acting as a check against the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of government. The church will not be a check, as a separate power, until it teaches the people to judge the laws created by politicians." "Our churches will continue to be government churches until they rid themselves of corporate charter and IRS 501 (c) (3) contracts ..." Then, "the church can again be a check to bring back our lawful government."
"...the debts, deficits and decline of our nation is related to the theological error preached from our church pulpits. Holy scripture does not indicate anything that might exempt governments from the laws of our God creator. When government violates the laws of honesty, integrity, responsibility, common sense, etc., someone needs to speak out. The minister in the church should be the most vigilant and sensitive individual in any community. The lies of politicians must be exposed by the bright light of truth coming from our pulpits" - M.J. "Red" Beckman.
I think he's got a great point there!
Kings were given devine right by God.
That is who protected them and gave them the right to tell everyone else what to do!
But some religions did not believe the Pope could decide who would be King!
The American revolution was the first to throw away divine right and hand it to the people. You had a right to believe in what you wanted, but not a right to dictate to all your belief.
Clearly the population was of may beliefs but they still needed the law to protect them from the other people.

Ron Paul is my President.
They should both be avoided
They should both be avoided at all costs.

"Politically, if religious
"Politically, if religious faith dominates, freedom will not be permitted. If the basic political goal is the secular one of defending individual rights, then each person has sovereignty over his life and is left free by the state to think for himself and to pursue his own values. But if the basic goal is to implement the will of some unfathomable deity, then the citizen cannot be allowed to exercise his own judgment and to challenge divine authority."

Truth is treason in an empire of lies.
If we follow the CONSTITUTION
If we follow the Constitution it doesn't matter WHO runs for office because their POWERS are LIMITED and it is the STATES and LOCALITIES that decide issues. If a truly Constitutional candidate became president, he could believe that the moon is made of green cheeze and it wouldn't make a dimes worth of difference because that would have nothing to do with his Constitutionally valid responsibilities. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE AIMING AT. Getting back to the point where the President's PERSONAL feelings don't make any difference, because his powers are LIMITED by the Constitution.

"Not armies, not nations, have advanced the race; but here and there, in the course of ages, an individual has stood up and cast his shadow over the world."
