He Says It's "Protection" Money
If Congress says no who's knee caps get busted?
I smell a rat.

I had the day off from work today so I
had CSPAN3 on while I was painting. Anyway, there was some awesome debate going on about the bailout. After a couple of hours of listening to it, I actually felt sorry for Paulson. He talked until his voice was hoarse. He was being bombarded (rightfully so) right and left by various Congressmen. I was pretty impressed at how those who spoke (most of them anyway) were presenting some pretty pointed and relevent questions. It was truely painful to listen to. A Congressman from Ohio said that he had lots of phone calls and emails from his constituents and that none of them were positive about the bailout. He kept asking Paulson how Main Street was going to benefit.
The deal that has been presented is honestly a very bad deal for the American taxpayers. They are not even sure if it will work. There is a possibility that it will not be enough and then all that money will be wasted. Heck, they don't even know how they are going to regulate it. Paulson kept telling them that it will only work if other banks, besides the ones who need to be bailed out, will participate. My friends, if this is the best they can do then we are in deep doo-doo.
~Your perception becomes your reality~
It is too obvious, why some still think this is a good plan
Paulson was at Goldman Sachs only 2 years ago. He is one of the leaders of this mess and profitted greatly. Now we are to believe he knows how to fix it. My God how ignorant people are (at least not us Daily Paulers). This too easy. A blind man can see this one. It is using lies, coercian, and fear to get Congress to cough up $700B (or more) for his chums on Wall Street. The fear job alone screams fraud.
We must demand everyday in our calls and emails to Congress to IMPEACH PAULSON. He is the enemy within.

Hank and the bailout
What I want are shares of stock in the Federal Reserve Bank for every American citizen as a condition of this bailout. According to the Federal Reserve, shares can be issued or sold to the public or the government if the Fed chooses to do so. It will cost them nothing. I want to attend the FOMC meetings, shareholder meetings and get my 6% dividend year in and year out. I want to vote for the board of directors. I want a shareholder resolution to liquidate the corporation and distribute the proceeds to the shareholders. How about a little deal, Hank?
That sounds like Kucinich's plan...
and a great one to me! Is Dodd for this plan? What is Dodd for?
tree hugger
Paulson was a leader of "The Nature Conservancy" and he's an avid tree hugger and bird watcher.
It makes me wonder about a possible relationship between this financial crisis/power grab and the goals of a NWO that wants to enforce population control as a pre-requisite to the health of the planet.
You know...all that Alex Jones, Georgia Guidestones type thing.
Didn't Dodd receive the most in contributions from Fannie and
Freddie? And wasn't he one of the engineers of the deregulation of the industry? I wonder why he's flip-flopping and not supporting those who paid him off? Trying to save his own skin?

Paulson is..
one of the architects of this mess while he was with Goldman Sachs. Him working for the government made his 500M take on Goldman Sachs virtually tax-free. First, he wants to bail himself and his cohorts out, put the blame on the average Joe by means of tax dollars, then gets more power and no freagin' accountability. Wow, life is f----ng good for this guy!

Maybe they are both doing what they think is...
best for the people? They will come to an agreement and things will get better for the rich and worse for the poor. They are not conspirators. There are no conspirators.
Just saying what they think we want to hear:
Some of them are up for re-election and are worried if they don't appear to be doing the right thing, they may lose out. As far as I'm concerned, all but a couple should be tried and convicted and then jailed for their crimes.
There, I feel better now.

Doesn't the senate have a Sergeant-at-arms?
Isn't there someone at these hearings who can take this perp into custody?

I was glad to see Chris Dodd
get in Paulson's face. Paulson thought he was going to get away with mugging the unsuspecting taxpayer in a dark alley. Paulson looked a bit shocked in that clip, like he was expecting the politicians to look away and keep walking while he robbed us.
i don't get this. these are
i don't get this. these are private businesses. what reason should we be doing this for? why should CEOs be paid anything? they ran their companies into the ground. they should be fired immediately on the spot.

Supposedly by taking this bad debt off their books, credit will
begin flowing again and people will be able to get loans to buy cars, houses, businesses, and the economy will not collapse. I'm not convinced it will work, and I'm not convinced that the economy would collapse if they didn't do it.

The media has me convinced...
that if the government does not do this bailout, we are in deep doo-doo, i.e. Great Depression II, WWIII.
Nice to see a congresscritter other than Ron Paul
Nice to see a congresscritter other than Ron Paul showing some spine (or at least some spin) resisting an attack on the constitution.

He must be getting drunk right now. cause he had a BAD day in DC.
Of course he'd want
Of course he'd want oversight. He can commit fraud with the government's blessing that way.

I don't understand what you are saying.
Can you explain it please?
The banks and the Fed have been using each other to
commit fraud and gain more power. The banks want more "regulation" because they will just use the government to their advantage. The watchdog becomes the lapdog.

Gold and the US Dollar Summed Up
Author: Jim Sinclair
Dear CIGAs,
To sum up gold and the US dollar.:
The dollar has a solid roof above it that now cannot be penetrated.
Gold has a solid floor underneath it that now cannot be penetrated.
Today's Gold and Dollar market carefully followed the general directive that no market action should ever embarrass the Chairman of the Federal Reserve or the Secretary of the Treasury when either (and certainly when both!) are speaking on national TV.
End of story.
The following is a nice review of the means being used to kill the US dollar:
The $1.8 trillion of foreign exchange reserves held by China are still largely denominated in greenbacks and there must be some horror in Beijing at the plans put forward by the Fed. Alex Patelis, an economist at Merrill Lynch, has put together a handy list of what the US is planning to spend:
Treasury buying mortgage-related assets: $700bn
Potential supplementary stimulus package favoured by Democrats: $100bn
Insuring money market funds: $50bn
Treasury fortifying the Fed's balance sheet: $100bn
Expansion of temporary swap lines with central banks: $180bn
Loan to AIG: $85bn
Fed purchase of agency discount notes & ABCP: amount not specified
Fed loans through the Primary Dealer Credit Facility: $20bn through Sep 17
Fed's discount window: $33bn balance
Treasury purchase of GSE MBS this month: $10bn
Potential cost of Fannie/Freddie bailout: $200-$300bn
With a neat symmetry, the $1.5 trillion-or-so total is what some people believe the Iraq war will end up costing.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
pretty accurate
it's a power grab. that is why they are pushing for it to be passed so quickly, so that the people cannot organize fast enough.
