McCain suspends campaign??? Is this a prelude to suspending the election?
Submitted by LastAmericanStanding on Wed, 09/24/2008 - 21:02
Someone help me out here.. I read this when I came home today and nearly crapped my pants. Will we have an election with only Obama?? Will they suspend the election since one of the candidates 'dropped out'.
WTF?

What happened with this...?
any further news today?? Just came in from work and heard nothing yet...

No....
but it is a prelude to him getting his a$$ kicked on election day.
He's running to DC to show the world that he really is an idiot; he doesn't just play one on TV.
maybe because he knows
he aint got a snowballs chance
Finally..........The Answer!
We have finally come to where we know the answer to that question that for so many years has troubled us.....
Question: Why did the chicken cross the road?
Answer: Because he was too chicken to speak in the debates so he retreated to the other side of the road!
I think McCain laid a big "Chicken" egg with this one for all to see!
What a leader! WHAT A LEADER !!!

So Bogus
This man should be in front of every camera explaining to America what happened and how he plans to clean house and set this straight once and for all -- oh, wait, for a moment there I had delusions that Ron Paul was the republican nominee.
He's just using an excuse to not look like a fool at the debate.

Stop the NWO....It's just illumi..Naughty !
But he knew it was coming... it's not like they snuck up on him.
Eventually, he would have to debate Obama. To say he's using this to duck looking like a idiot is a bit much.
Not that I don't agree; he's scared shitless to get in front of Obama and discuss superfluous topics..
Considering they haven't talked about anything important to date, why worry about a dog & pony show debate?

Just strategy
Timing is crucial- "whos your running mate John?" "Ill let you know when I know who Im running against." Id like to know who the Obama look alike they had waiting in the wings is had Hillary won- but she didnt- so they picked Palin- they obviously thought Hillary would win- Palin was sooo a plan B. McCain has had such a disasterous week- he totally squandered his fake 14 pt lead in all of the major fake polls and he sure wasnt looking forward to opening the debate series by laying an egg. He has no clue what they will decide this weekend. If he were to humiliate himself with Obama on Friday and further drive his numbers down, only to have YouTube videos posted showing how off -base he was Friday at the debate compared to what is announced for the bailout Monday- it would give Obama some MAJOR momentum going into the 2nd debate. This way he has the luxury of having the first debate fresh on the heels of a fuzzy bailout package he can take partial credit for AND take some of Obama's momentum. I doubt anyone will buy it- and likely we'll just hear him excuse his no-show as "I was on the hill takin' care of business for the American taxpayers yaaarrr". If in fact he decides not to crash the meeting and attend the debate instead- the questions asked at the debate will likely have more to do with the wars- where he's a little more comfy. Theyll say "The plan is being worked on- why speculate- we'll talk more about the economy next time when we have a better grasp of whats going on". He knows hes got debates- they just want to stack the circumstances around him a little more favorably is all- cant blame him- he and Palin have had the worst week ever.

If John McCain suspending his campaign will help the ...
financial crisis, imagine what ENDING his campaign would do.
Publicity stunt or not...
what are the ramifications of this???

Will someone please tell me about this?
Is there a link? What is going on?
McCain hasnt "suspended" his campaign in the classical sense
My understanding is that he is down in the polls as a direct result of his first saying the fundamentals of the economy were strong, then saying it was a crisis, then saying no to a bailout then saying it is absolutely necessary etc etc- inspiring absolutely no confidence in his ability to come off as anything other than inept at a debate. Hes not ready to debate Obama and everyone knows it- so hes conveniently skipping the debate to go stick his face in the meeting (where everyone knows he has absolutely nothing to contribute as he is utterly clueless) but by being there he can 1. skip a debate and avoid humiliation of Biblical proportions, and 2. emerge from the meeting on Monday and take credit for whatever they come up with and hope it gains him some economy creds. He is essentially taking a few days off and will be back to his crappy little campaign. He's asked Obama to join him and Obama said "cant we do two things at once? Ill go if Im needed.". The debate commission said "no- we arent cancelling the debate over this- it goes as planned". Whether he is a no show or not remains to be seen. He cancelled his taping of the Letterman show- (knowing in light of his flip-flops and confusion all week he'd just look stupid) and low & behold he gives a softball interview for Katie Couric- Dave found out he was still in town and was pissed and offered him a ride to the airport. Apparently he didnt need to leave town in such a hurry after all : )

McCain ducks debate
Me thinks that thou hast nailed it Jinc.
MrTom
The last I heard was that the debates commission said "nope"
that the debate schedule was not subject to change. I bet the 3rd party candidates would attend if invited (well- barr may be a no show) but it would be a good debate to have Obama and the 3rd parties- I bet any one of them would LOVE a piece of Obama. BTW i saw my very first McCain bumper sticker today- the driver actually merged at 90 miles an hr on the freeway and then slowed to 35 mph with his head turned looking at the passenger for about 8 miles with the right turn signal on the whole time. I kid you not.

It's just a stunt to gain some free press and make himself LOOK
as if he is "serious" about the economy.
It's all "theatrics" and nothing more.
Yup, he's serious alright. Take a look!

With McCain on the job we can all sleep well tonight!
McCain has a great deal in the field of economics, just ask the Keating 5.
Looks like a publicity stunt to me
After losing the MILF bounce and the credit crisis getting Americans to refocus on real issues, McStain pulls this stunt with W's follow-up act tonight to scare the nation into accepting the bail out package.
What a load of shit.

I'm paraphrasing a comment on You Tube:
"Maybe McCain and Obama will bow out, realizing they are unworthy."
The same thought
passed my mind when I heard it also.
It gave me a knot in my stomach. Dubya calls them to a meeting and then they both agree to suspend the elections...
Suspended Campaign.....
Isn't that what Mitt Romney and Ron Paul did also ... "Suspended" their campaign?
Naw
The debate hosts would'nt give him the questions in advance, or McCain's staff got drunk and lost the notes.

McCain's Campaign Strategy:
The less Americans see of McCain, the better for his campaign. He wants to be the invisible alternative to Obama. McCain is such a horrible speaker that he'll do anything to avoid debating one-on-one with almost anyone, especially a born orator like Obama. He gets confused very easily, and is not very knowledgeable about anything important, other than where his nine homes are -- oops, scratch that. Have you noticed that McCain never speaks on his commercial spots? He would simply embarrass himself.
Have you ever seen what
Have you ever seen what happens when Obama loses his teleprompter? Obama's actually not all that great of an orator, but he does read fairly well.
...
No talk express
After being ignored by McCain, I heard a reporter shout, "Is this the no talk express?" to mock the straight talk express written on the bus.
I know you can't underestimate the american people, but will they really vote for a candidate that so flagrantly ignores the press? Not to mention Sarah Palin's reluctance to answer questions in public.
What a sham.
there are more than two candidates
after 8 years of Bush it might be considered a matter of common decency for the republicans to sit one out...or maybe the chick can stand in for McCain. Maybe he just does not have the stones to be publicly humiliated by having to talk about something he does not understand. Maybe he doesn't wanna actually run for president, maybe he'd just rather hide out until the election and hope that his stupid lying ads can get him in. Maybe he just cant hack it anymore.
But I digress.
There are more than two candidates.
I did think of that while asking my question...
But if the main candidates withdraw, the MSM could successfully ignore the rest.
I'm worried.
